Sorry for the late notice guys. I have been busy with work and the house. The good news is I'm better prepared for the remainder of the season.
It's a simple track that most should be familiar with. It will be action packed with the 911.

I love the National layout....no long boring straights to fall asleep on   This should be a very nice challenge in the RSR with plenty of overtaking opportunities, though sadly I think my practice time will be fairly limited too.

I can't believe we have one race a fortnight & we're wasting it on IROC's at Silverstone National ??? >:(

Rubbish track missing out the best bits, that I was lucky enough to never experience till about 3 months back & this'll unbelievably be the 3rd race there since in SROUK ::)
As for single spec racing... in a Porka...

I think for the 2nd time in about two years, I'm going to sit out a UKPnG race by choice. The last one being the Mini's race just a month ago. Why pick these extreme cars for single spec races! A handful of people will be over the moon, the rest...

While we're on a roll, lets look in detail at the track... A decent right hander, onto a straight, into an almost hairpin, onto a straight, into a hairpin, in to a hairpin, onto the home straight. I struggle to imagine a duller track.

Right, I'm off to take my medicine, get off my soap box & calm down.

eh calm down calm down  ;D

its not the IROC you mentalist its the glorious RSR widebodies  8)

as for the track, well i prefer the GT circuit or the old 70's layout but can slum it on the national  :)

Also realised i am out early evening thursday as well so not sure if i will be back in time to take part..and with zero praccy  :'(

With what I "think" is the intended version and layout.
i.e Not the 70s one, the one that is "Northampton National"
Legz, it's "on a roll"
Well you know how much I lovehate Pigs. So it's hardly my favourite car and the track is "ok" worked well for
GTs caterhams. I did a few laps and it's boring for hot lapping, but may be a fun race, as these odd combos
often turn out to be.

1:03.0 so far BTW

Just spent an hour driving this car for the first time, brilliant fun. It's how I imagined a Porka would be, not like that horrible IROC. Needed quite a bit of setup adjustment to be able to get the power down without it going sideways, but gradual tweeks have made it much better, just need to tweek the brake bias a bit more to stop it locking the fronts & poughing straight on.

I must be one of the few who enjoys the short Silverstone track, should make a good race. :)

Just ahead of Matt at present, 1.02.8.

Nice combo :thumbup1: Hope to make this one. Cap7 and I were racing these at the NG race at Reims last week and it was an absolute blast, drafting aplenty and swapping places every lap. Watched the Carrera Cup here as part of the BTCC package last year and it was action packed.
I intended to have a quick 20 min practice (which actually turned into an hour before I noticed!) and came up with a 1:01.7.

The cars OK but that track is so short and torturous. But as GT says it should create crashes overtaking opportunities.

Haven't decided yet if I'll bother which is a shame  :-[

Don't see anything wrong with the track.  It's nice and flat for a start!  ;D

I hadn't tried the RSR before, or the track for that matter, but I have watched enough TC action on the telly to know where it was going.

I found the car to be the most responsive to setup changes of all the PnG cars.  That's not to say that I've made any great use of them but changing the diff certainly had an effect.

I shall start the ball rolling for human times with a 1:03.375 and at 1.6sec behind John that's probably as far as I shall get!  I have done a 3.1 in TT mode but that lets you start with all the tyres at full temperature.  (It's in your inbox Bill)

Qually is going to be a struggle as tyres take about three to four laps to reach working temperature for me.

let some air out of them, they warm up when they slide about more  ;) plus more camber to get some heat into the inside edges. If fronts are too cold, try adjusting your brake bias forwards so that when you hit the anchors, again more heat into them  :)

I had an hour or so last night and got down to consistent mid 1:02s. Quicker in race trim than on a one lap quali setup though.

You might want to try out the different tyre options, oh yes there are 3 or 4 different makes on offer depending on your car choice and each feels different and has their own characteristics. Those meticulous attention to detail GTL Workshop types again  :notworthy:

P.S. Might find it tricky to be there for the qualifying process, so I'll start at the back if need be.

I seem to have reached an understanding with the IROC's recently - wonder if that will transfer over to the RSR's  ;D

Will have to try and do some practice tonight I guess, as 1 lap qualifying puts payed to me normal 'arrive and drive' mentality  ;)

On warm tyres I managed a 1.02.300 lap as my best, but with just one outlap I am appr. 1 sec slower.

BTW: in most european contries, this type of qualification is called 'Superpole', do you use the same expression in UK and the US ?

Stig / Hotkeys

Doesn't that imply that only, say, the top ten get to take part in the superpole?

Which is another thought.........  We could all use practice to try to make the top ten/six/five/whatever and then the select group could do the one lap thing.  Then the admin bod could thread the rest of us in in the correct order.  Or would that actually be necessary?  Would those who di not qualify be entered in practice order?

Race lasted about as long as I expected - a tight track and a car I can't drive.  :helpsmilie: :surrender:  "Smileys" just about sums it up.

Now I can look forward to next Thursay's GTL race on a nicer track and a choice of cars.  :jumpjoy: :thumbup1:

I really should not be let loose in these nasty little things, I shunted Bill at the start, then fell off and took ages to get
the thing off the grass, spun again and sat still waiting for Stig to go round, but he was on full chat and I'm right
in his path... lonely dozen laps, then caught Phil and Ade battling away, Had John lapping me and thought maybe Miguel
was also close, lost concentration and promptly rammed my team mate.... arggggggg
Sincere apologies to anyone I made contact with.

p.s
I went to start the race and it started itself  :o so then I go to do the results and woooahhh "Nurse the screens! it's
happened again!!!"   The mouse is moving around the screen all by itself
Never seen TightVNC allow two concurrent conections like that before. Chortle, scared me arf to deff it did missis

Results and replay posted

Tough outing for me tonight. I took it too easy in quali and let FMG pip me onto the front row. It was a lot of pressure. I was .001 back at the end of the 1st sector and then lost some more in sector 2. John had us both covered all night. His car was working well and he was solid behind the wheel. He went a bit wide into turn 2 on lap 1, but that was the only mistake I saw all evening. That's why he won. Congrats on a fine race John. Hopefully I can give you a challenge next round.

I made a lot of contact tonght. It felt like I was watching a round of the BTCC. It looked like other may have struggled a bit as well. Apologies to those I collected on lap 2 or 3 with my car coming across track just before the last turn. I know I collected Ade as he joined the quest with me sans the front wing/bumper assembly.

Soggy Bottom Racers have a nice lead in the championship hunt. We Kerb Crawlers are going to have to rally together to stay on top.

I seem to have upped my game in P&G land recently as that's another podium!  :o

First up massive appologies to Mike who I clipped with my huge bum while diving up the inside on about lap 4, porsche and pendulum begin with the same letter for a reason obviously!
My only consolation appears to be that (On my replay at least) your subsequent spin wasn't actually as a direct result of the contact, of course my own replay may not show everything....

After I helped Mike off I had a lonely drag trying to hold Miguel off, he eventually caught me and we had a great dice for several laps before I finally helped him through with a couple too many mistakes on my part  :-[

From there it was just a case of clinging on till the line - hopefully we're back in the Yank tanks next time as I seemed to be slightly faster than Miguel last time out in them  ;)

Made an almighty backside of it on lap 2 when I spun coming out of Becketts. I then spun it a few times, hit the armco and stalled it before I eventually rejoined the track about half a lap down

Had a good run back though with some cracking duels especially with Geoffers as we swapped places several times before I was able to pull a gap towards the end.

Didn't realise this was a champ race or I'd have been a bit more cautious  ::)

Incidently, there are 3 different tyre makes for the RSR but the results only show Dunflops.

Had a good battle for a few laps there Goldie, your car (& others I was close too during the race) was a lot faster than mine on the straights.

Don't know if it is the way I set the cars up or if I have some controller setup issues, but it is something I have had several times recently in P&G with different cars. Anyone any idea what in the setup can affect acceleration (aside from gearing of course). As an example, a couple of weeks back we had an NG race at Reims, three of us were in the Total ATCC Mustang, only one gearing option for that track, highest, yet my car wouldn't accelerate as fast as the other two. If I was in front the others just drafted past on the straights, if I was behind they went away from me! Very frustrating.

Sounds like you're not getting full throttle - I'd start by checking the throttle cable's not snagging on anything, then check the plugs, dizzy, and timing  ;D

That or just go into the controls part of the menu and see if the bar completly fills when you stand on the loud pedal  :ninja:

Could be the plugs, haven't changed them for ages!  :D

I have checked the controls settings & everything seems to work as it should. Maybe I should give the pedals a clean just to make sure.

I was wondering what difference things like diff & toe-in settings make to acceleration & straight line speed.

Diff shouldn't effect speed at all, toe settings will however - if you run high + or - toe you'll loose top end  :)

Good race last night. Early pressure meant FMG nearly got a run on me when I went wide a couple of times but after that he was busy with Mike, so I was able to sneak away again and build up enough of a lead to be able to settle down and put in some good laps. Bit of a lonely race to the flag from then on but this track is short and challenging enough to keep it interesting.

I liked the quali format, not sure if it's better to go first or last though. In this case the pressure was off once I saw I was up at the first split, and knew I just needed to keep it nice and tidy for the rest of the lap. I expect things would have been a lot different if I wasn't last up.

Grats to Miguel and FMG.

Incidently, there are 3 different tyre makes for the RSR but the results only show Dunflops.

I wonder how different they actually are? Mine had Dunlops on but I had a go in one with Goodyears before quali and got identical speeds.

Surprisingly enjoyeable race that, mainly as the car didnt feel as bad as i thought it was going to be.  I'd tried a goodyear shod car the day before for only a few laps and struggled but as GT reminded me about the differing tyres i picked a dunlop tyred one and using exactly the same setup felt alot nicer. Though i realised i needed to reduce the rear arb and increase the front dampers a notch.

Benefit from those in front mainly in the race then had a quiet one with the gaps just getting bigger each way. Like the qually, i was getting very nervous leading up to it, having not done it before.
