Ah nightmare Ian - unfortunately I'm away for the weekend too, really annoying to miss this one being that it's one of my favourite combos but decided to do the BTCC @ Brands this weekend so not all bad!

Anyway hope you guys enjoy this one - PRACTICE SERVER NOW UP!

Not enough practice and an extra long band practice session unfortunately prevented me from running this one, hope I can make it for the next :(

Reign Man was pretty much untouchable tonight - well done!

I couldn't quite find the form I had yesterday and after various folks were talking in practice about needing a tyre stop I decided to concentrate on tuning the setup to be kinder to the front right, and then be very careful with it in the race. Qualifying went pretty well, with me getting three fast laps in, for 3rd on the grid.

Got a good start (despite forgetting to practice it!) and jumped Gazza for second but he was soon back past, as was Darren, which left me defending 4th from Bernie. He must've seen I was weak into Honda hairpin and sent one up the inside from a fair way back; I fought back through Siberia and turn 7 but had to yield into 8 and tuck in behind. I figured he would come back to me as the tyres wore anyway so I wasn't worried.

Sure enough, after a few laps of pulling away he slid wide out of Lukey Heights; he recovered just before I could sneak past but the writing was on the wall and it wasn't long before he went off again (in Siberia, IIRC) and I was through into 4th.

It looked like 4th I would stay... until with, what, three to go Darren suddenly and unexpectedly pitted. With only a splash of fuel he was out again 2 seconds behind - I wondered if he'd taken on tyres after a puncture and started mentally preparing to mount a 'robust' defence :fencing: but he slid off after a few corners handing me 3rd on a freshly polished silver platter.

Very glad to get the victory,  :jumpjoy:

Race was pretty straightforward for me, I was able to eek out a gap from Darren, until he did a disappearing act, which gave Gazza second place.  I too was debating whether to make a pit stop or not and still hadn't decided when the race started.

I had planned to take it easy; In testing yesterday I was able to keep tyre ware to 1% per lap on my FR running mid to high 44's.   But I thought sod it, I was curious as to how much ware I could get and how I was able to handle the car with low grip.

I think I did well overall but I did have a moment 3 laps from the end when braking into the first hairpin.  Something happend to the front right, It locked up and I was never going to make the corner.  The car felt strange for the final 3 laps and had to tiptoe around.  No idea what happend as after the race I still had 35% tread left.  Does Iracing model flat spots???

anyway, grats to all that finished.  Real shame that the turnout wasn't higher.

I might be the only one, but I think this car is great!    More V8 races please!!!

Ignore this man!  He is clearly insane.  ;)

While the V8 can be fun in small doses (drifting), I have always struggled to find any enjoyment while racing this brute.  This race was sadly no different. :(

After qualifying 4th on the grid, I managed a good start; pipping Gary into T1 on the inside.  This soon become 2nd when I sailed up the inside of Dave when heading into T4.

For 12 laps I managed to keep the gap between Adam and myself to under 4 seconds.  I kept seeing puffs of smoke coming from Adam's front right tyre, which gave me encouragement.  However, on lap 13 my grip levels fell off dramatically, which meant low 1:34 laps soon became 1:36s.  :o  With Gary only 8 seconds down the road my attention quickly turned from trying to win the race, to trying to hold on to 2nd.  Thankfully Gary appeared to be struggling as much as me and the 8 second gap remained constant, lap after lap.

With fresh rubber a lapped Simon was soon on my tail.  I had no choice but to let him by.  Sorry if I held you up... I tried to let you go by on each of the 2 previous laps, but every time you seemed to drop back in all the wrong places.  :-\

With 7 laps to go I heard the dreaded "you have 5 laps of fuel left".  This came as a big shock to me.  I had done several runs in practise and I was positive I had plenty of fuel on-board.  WRONG!!!!!  :-[  This meant with 3 to go I had to perform a splash 'n' dash.  I left the pits in 4th; 2 seconds behind Dave.  I pushed to try to close the gap, but a few corners later my front right tyre exploded, sending me straight on at T6 into the wall...   ::)

Congrats Adam on the win.  You were in a class of your own tonight.  Well done to Gary and Dave for your podium places....

It was also good to see Bernie and Don back on the track after a long absence...

Forgot to mention the funniest moment of the race - Pete had taken a reset and came out next to me, allowing me through, but on fresh rubber he was noticable quicker and since he had a shot at catching Raimo who was just ahead I let him by... only for Raimo to fall off three corners later and render it a moot point.

Absolutely no practice again. Spent all weekend doing gardening, was knackered, achey with scratches all over me from bushes/trees etc. Hands were cramped and aching like hell from painting the fence by hand after the power sprayer (used once!) decided to not bother doing what it said on the tin! Anyway, enough of that...

This is one wierd as hell car, power slides, back end out under braking, oversteer, understeer and steering is just plain bizarre. There seems to be no way to steer smoothly, it's like using a joy pad having to turn the wheel in steps as you go around the corner and then back again, it's so fished up.

Qualified 5th of the qualifiers, which was odd considering I was the second slowest guy on the grid, but there you go. The first half of the race, as usual, was my practice and I think I managed to tame the beast fairly soon, but still couldn't go faster than 1:35.0 in the race. I stayed with Dave and Bernie for a bit, but it didn't last as I made mistakes whilst learning the car properly. I eventually made a big enough mistake that saw me slide off before that corkscrew corner and hitting the barrier side on really hard. The car was pointing left a lot after that and I soldiered on for another 2 laps before the additional heavy left pull got me at the last corner and threw me around.

Took my reset at that point which gave me another tank full, but new rubber (not that i was actually burning them that hard). I came out just behind Adam and in front of Darren. Thinking Darren would be a lot quicker I quickly let him by in a poorly signalled gap leaving manoever. Only thing was after my tyres warmed up I started closing him down and I soon found myself stuck behind him. Not wanting to force anything (being a lap down) I just waited and eventually he decided to let me by (thanks). I then set about Adam to get my lap back and with a couple to go I was right with him. Unfortunately he didn't want to give me my lap back :P and I had to settle for being a lap down (not that it would have changed my finishing position).

Despite thinking that the car is as wierd as a deranged puffer fish I wouldn't mind another go in it just to confirm that it really is fish poo cause there was something about it that was attractive (maybe the ability to powerslide, although that was tempered by my inability to powerslide, or maybe just it's beastly looks).

I really wasn't sure if i was going to do this race after not getting to grips with the car on Saturday practice, but i stuck with it and did a few more hours on sunday and finally started to get competitive times (1.33's)

Still was very scared to do the race but thought sod it lets have a go  :P

Put in a cracking lap in the practice so was feeling good but the short Qually session caught me out and i only got 1 flying lap in. It wasn't a bad lap and put me 2nd  :o

Hadn't done any starts in the car so i was a little slow off the line and Darren and Dave got past me. Tried to settle down and i started catching Dave and i was a bit quicker on the last corner and got alongside and made a good overtake into turn 1 (first proper overtake in Ir for along time and in the most tricky car, go figure) Gradually started to pull away and built up a nice 14 sec gap. I knew i couldn't catch Adam and Darren so tried to be so smooth and look after the tyres but after about 14 laps my times were quite a bit down.

Made no mistakes and would of been happy with 3rd but suddenly Darren pitted and gifted me 2nd  :)

Think i was very lucky to finnish as my left front was down to 7% at the end :o no idea why it was so low as i never locked up under braking.

Well Done Adam great pace and Dave for 3rd.

Theres something about this car that makes you want to like it but its sooo difficult to be quick and can be very frustrating but overall i did enjoy it.

oi oi oi,
far to little practise for this one.

And with 2 straight Prem GrandAm's as warm up(now I know how you felt last round Dave :'( had a safe 2nd@1h15m)
this race was all about not falling off the track and to manage to cross the finish line.
After a very dangerous start and first few corners, things settled down and I was safe and alone.
This went well all the way to lap 20 when racing-brain shutdown to sleepmode and I can't even remember the last laps.

Sorry Dave didn't even know I was racing for position :sleep1:  If I had, I would have gone straight at turn 1 never to be seen again  :D

I got mine out the way at 8am - second lowest rated driver in a small field of aliens, just Andy Gooderson to keep me company at the back. And even then there were two DPs being very aggressive (well, one being stupidly agressive and one loose cannon!). Such was the strength of field I ended up with a modest iR increase despite finishing 4th of 6,
