My personal stats show a best of 1:44.675, but that was a long time ago and hopefully I'll be a tad quicker now.

I don't think I'll have an internet connection at this point as we're moving house during this week :(

Practice server will be up around 6:30pm chaps - think I'm going to need all four hours knowing how quickly some of you pedalled these things around in the main series!

Sorry James, won't be able to make it now. I've got my rig in pieces while I'm fabricating new monitor mounts to facilitate a new wheel.

Regards
Gary

Noooo, this was your round mate! Still, if your rig's in bits that does limit your options somewhat!

Judging by last night's practice this is going to be tough but also rewarding when you get it right, particularly the Oak Tree corners - still feels a bit do or die but hopefully I can rein it in bit for the race.

Could be my imagination but the Radical does feel a little different after the update - not sure if it's just because I haven't driven it for a while but I'm sure it's harder to hold slides. Should be a bit of fun anyway, provided we can compete with the temptations of week 13!

Hope to see some of you there..

A tiny mistake on the opening lap took me out of Dave's draft, which meant I had to push harder than I wanted to earlier on.  A few laps later I missed a gear @ T1 which sent me into a half spin across the grass; I rejoined 7 seconds down. :(  I managed to fight my way back to 6 seconds, but in the end too many small mistakes meant I couldn't get any closer.

Great pace guys.  It was a shame I couldn't stay with your guys for longer.  Would have been a great 3 way battle.  Anyway, given how difficult it is to pass at VIR I doubt I would have improved on 3rd....

Congrats to Paul for the win and to Dave on a great drive.

Thanks guys, hope to see you at the next one....

Now thats why I love simracing  ;D

Decided to race late as wife decided to stay with my mother in law as she was home alone. So thought as long as I get on for 7 after getting the boy to bed I would give it a go. All went to plan apart from after loading my VIR set I was over 2 seconds off the pace. Lucky thanks to teamie Darren one was winged my way and with a small tweak I managed to get on the pace of Dave and Darren.

On the first qual lap I managed to beat my practice time with a 43.7 although there was still a bit in it. Relaxed a bit and the second lap was better and got pole with a 43.5.

Race start went ok Dave got a better one but only slightly and I was able to hold into T1. Decided to ease into it and realised that wasnt possible with Dave and Darrens pace! With the tow I had to really push to eek out a gap. Darren had a moment and lost a bit of time but I couldn't shake Dave. I would put in a quick lap and get half a sec only to do and ok one next and he would be right there again. Super consistant and fast too so the pressure was on. Fortunately I was fast in the section leading to Oak Tree so Dave wasnt close enough down the back straight to make a move although he closed right up. Same again in the final section was able to pull just enough gap to fend off challanges into T1 apart from on lap 22 with an error giving Dave a chance. I had to go Defensive into T1 and luckily got the braking point right and just held him off. Dave had a slight error in the last two laps and I was able to bring it home with the biggest lead I had all race (and still less than 2 seconds!)

Great race Dave and well done to Dyno as well shame the half spin early otherwise it would have been 3 way battle. Need a beer now after all that. Thanks so much for hosting I try to make as many races as possible but not able to due to work and family at the moment. See you all soon  :)

Wow - what a race!

I've always struggled with specific corners at VIR so I tried a number of tweaks to the setup (which I'll upload to the Team Shark site tomorrow) and finally settled on a softer, lower front end and more rear wing than I was expecting to run after yesterday's practice. Binned the car at the start of my second qualifying lap ending any shot at pole, but happily my first lap was good enough for a front row start.

Got a great jump off the line but not quite enough to challenge Paul round the outside of T1 and slotted into second; was expecting him to pull away once his tyres warmed up, but with such a big draft up the back straight, and with me finally sorting out a half decent line through Oak Tree Corner, I was able to stay with him for lap after lap, losing a little at the top of the Esses but feeling that I had a slightly better car almost everywhere else.

Darren was similarly able to stay with me until that mistake; I guessed it was probably at T1, but I was concentrating on Paul so hared that I didn't notice he wasn't there any more for a few seconds.

As usual with the Radical, the tyres just go on and on and the car gets faster and faster as the fuel load burns off, so with the pressure from behind removed, I went into full attack mode, hoping to scare Paul into an uncharacteristic error. Almost got it with a few to go, and tried to fight my way into the lead round the outside of T1 - a move I've made with both successful and disastrous results in the past  - but couldn't make it stick, and with 2 or 3 to go I caught one of the curbs in the early wiggles and lost a second gathering it back up; with no draft I couldn't catch back up to Paul and had to settle for 2nd in the end.

That's enough to maintain a healthy lead in the championship; with the Late Model up next and the MX-5 scheduled for the final round that's two races where I should do well, but of course there's the F1 race in between and I'll likely be nowhere in that (having already missed a round I've not got a dropped score to fall back on), so it's still all to play for...

Well done to Paul for keeping his cool under such pressure. It's a pity we're not getting bigger grids, but if it's the right few drivers that's all you need for an awesome race. 8)
