Somebody make it difficult for Dave please!

Shark's bound to destroy me; I'll be coming out of an ORO race 90 minutes before with no practice, and I'm rubbish in the F1 car at the best of times.

Has ORO moved to Sunday?

Only this week, to avoid a clash with the Indy 500.

I've raced all the cars I own so far, and for this race I will bring out my Williams with tires that have done 2 test laps at Silverstone  :D
Maybe I will have to try it out in practise on Saturday first to see if I'm even remotely safe in it  ;D

Good man Raimo! Need some Prodigy representation going on!

I shouldn't worry, it'll be just like the Stang.....four wheels and all that ;)

all things being good I'm planning on doing this one BUT please bear with me cos I've never raced this thing only done a few practice sessions at a few tracks and to say I was slow is a total under statement but hopefully I won't get in anybody way for a few laps until ya all come round to lap me  :o ;D

Well by the sounds of it everyone is rubbish at this car so we should be quite even. :)

Yes if you finish you might win this one. It is a hell of a lot of fun around here though I have to say, I loved the Indycar here too and the F1's even better (leave it Simon ;)).

I'll schedule the race in advance - will you want a practice session on the Sat? It is Champions League final and Indy 500 day so I wonder if it's worth bothering?

Not for me thanks Oily (practice session). I have the off-line button should I want to bother practicing (which I wont).

so what sorta time are folks doing IF anybody been brave enough to do any yet  ;D ;D just done a few .when I finally did a whole lap {the 25th I think it was} ::) it was a 1:09.xxx

shit this thing don't give ya much time to think and my hands are rather slow at the gear changes {I blame that on the age} ::)

From my race there in November 2010 (so I can't say what the new build might have done to times)...
Q-1:04.093
R-1:05.034

From recollection, the F1 is all about going around corners way faster than you think you can (if you're not scared you're not going fast enough) and braking way later than you think you can (if you think you can make the corner then you're not braking late enough), i.e. the car is all about driving it way past what you think a car could physically acheive.

The F1 is completely barking and if it doesn't feel like you could fall off at any moment then you're nowhere near your/the limit.

thanks Simon for letting me know I really am slow  ::) ;D ;D least with a bit of luck I can only get better ..................hopefully

thanks for the set-ups over at shark racing Simon at least with that I can get round the track more than once per run {slower} but at least it's a start  ;D ;)

Oh the other thing to remember about the F1 is that it's way slower with a lot of fuel on board, much more so than any other car in iRacing.

Will be watching Chapions League final. My reasoning is that even 4 hours practise will not make me much faster with same safety, so I be way off pace either way  ;D

Server up - sorry it's a bit late, literally just got through the door.

Have good one chaps, gutted not to be joining you for this!  :'(

UNLIMITED RESETS tonight as I figure you might need them  ;D.

If you are having a shocker and are using your resets please just be aware of anyone lapping you, closing speeds can be a little bit mental in this thing!

I'll check back into the server near Q session start time. Did a few laps practice which was enough for me.

well that was crap went off clipped the back end of the car on the barrier yet the steering wheel was 90 degrees out never touched the front with anything :-\ :-\ would have been 4 or 5 laps down by end of tow pointless stopping there  :-\

Yep - I made it further in than I expected but eventually the inevitable happened and I lost the car over the bumps on the exit of Westfield - stoved the front right in but car was still just about drivable, but with a meatball I had to pit and the crew wouldn't let me out again to see if I could struggle round fast enough to get third.

I want to know where my one reset was. I should've been instantly repaired on entry to the pits as I hadn't stopped before that. >:(

Post by: GizMoTo on May 29, 2011, 08:48:04 PM +0100
well I took a tow and it was holding me in the pits and the count down when I took note was 5:35 and I had already been lapped at least 1 time by then

sad part was I was actually enjoying driving the car but I got a better start than I thought I would get and wasn't sure exactly where simon was and I was concentrating so hard not  turning in on him I ended up drifting out to wide and off the track  :-\

knew I should have done what my instinct told me and started from the pits  ::) ::)

Well that was the easiest win of my life, but not really a proper race with so few people. Sorry to Pete for lapping him, but with everyone but you and Raimo gone, my only target left was to lap everyone. :D
