When we raced with GT1s here I found that I was much faster with a low wing setup, almost LeMans style with shorter gears.

So far my practise with the GT500s has been low wing (2-2) but, the car feels very wobbly under braking. I have not done higher wing runs yet but, I suspect having just a little higher than 2-2 will be better.  I cant remember my time off hand, sorry.

This is what it says in the rules..
Automatic gears will not normally be permitted, but may be exceptionally allowed at the series director's discretion.

So get onto the series director..H@l

Nearly scrapped into the 2:04's....but had to settle for a 2:05 in the end

This track is good fun in these cars, cant wait 8). Low 2.05's for me with a high DF setup, just couldnt get on with a low wing setup. Felt a high wing on the front helped with the high speed corners/straights then the back became too unstable. Tried a two lap, no fuel run and did a low 2.03

I'm going to give these another try. Won't have much time for pracci, so can anyone recommend a car and some setup advice please.

I would say there is very little between any of them though i have found the nissans a little easier. start with default, change brakes and steering for personal preference, gearing is too long by default, try dropping each gear by 3 clicks as a start. I raise front pressures by 5 clicks or so as they are always low compared to the rears, raise the rear arb and drop the front arb by one. That is approx what i do as a start off the top of my head, might not be exact but is about right.

These are really like LMPs in all but name i feel, so being smooth, not sliding or getting sideways is key.

I think they all suffer from understeer Tudor so increase the front splitter, soften the front etc. The non-Jap motors (Lambo, Mclaren and 550 especially) are off the pace but they are more fun. They also look/sound better  :)

Really good track/car combo.

Hope your mate can make it Apex. As auto gears are no advantage I see no reason why it shouldn't be allowed?

The server had been running the non UKGTR version, sorry, sorted now. The only difference is the race time, no grip changes or anything like that.

i have a friend that would like to join us.

Did you get my Personal Message Apex? The server is currently set to allow auto gears.

My times using low wing (2 - 2) were in the 2.08's, after trying high wing (4 - 12) I was in the 2.05's, so higher wing is definitely the way to go.

Had a quick blast this afternoon and I struggle with feel in all of these cars. I'm at 2:07 in the Aston with low wing, so I'm going to try it with higher wing settings tomorrow as it felt the most responsive.

Haven't even considered strategy yet and won't get much chance to test, so what are the options then? Will meds get me to the pitstop?

No idea how the 'normal' cars are like on the tyres, I guess its the x2 wear as you do see reasonable wear towards the end of a stint.

Cant quite equalise front and rear wear in the nsx which is going to make it fun around the middle of the stint.

hello,

i think i drive this race, long time ago last race i did with this cars, but much fun cars this are.
i did already drive this track with this cars in NAGP and i think i will come with my yellow nissan z 2007, which is not so good in corner fast then honda and need little more fuel, but is fast in straights :).

other thing.....last year we did a 80min. here in ukgtr with GT cars and race end after 22laps !!!!!! much to early...
is this now fixed for the race or will race end to much early again? i can not test online because server is set to only 3min. race and offline it can be different sometimes, so please can someone watch if this is now correct.
offline it says to me....333laps for 1hour race which looks like fixed it is, but not sure if i have 100% same version.

if there is nothing changed in nissan since version 2.5, i think 2.04.xxx is ok racelaps with full fuel and med med tyres, 2nd stint perhaps faster, do not know fuel for 2nd stint with 2xfuel.

If all races were as intense as that, I'd be a very happy camper. 8)

Never more than 100 yards away (either side) from NSFast from the grid to the flag :o. Absolutely class driving, congrats mate. You seemed to be able to maintain your pace for a little longer in each stint & that was probably the difference. :)

More please 8)

OK Apex.

Nice race all. :)

I was having a good close fight with spanner on the first lap then I span after catching the inside curb on the up hill right near the end of the lap. It was safest to wait for all the cars to pass so I was last. I had a good fight with TT and a few others as I regained a few places during the race.

It was a shame that I span as I could have had some good fights I think. The fight with TT was very good though if a bit shorter than usual and when he came out of the pits just in front of me, I used my warmer rubber to good affect immediately. ;D

See you all next time. :)

:cursing:  :D

You were faster anyways, I was losing 0,2 sec per lap and gave up after 20 min. ::)

Sorry again to Goldtop - he went wide and I dived in. A bit of an optimistic move as I turned him a second later. :-[ Waited, but the race was gone ... for him. I just lost places I would lose anyways. Most people were faster than me, must have made some seriously crappy setup. :P

P.S.
To do: spread my crappy setups with others to slow them down...  :D

I rather like this series, I am still slowere than even more people than TT, but I can usually
have someone to play with. Seemed to get caught by GT quite a bit, who then fell back for
one reason or another. Chased and hounded APEX for the first few laps. took fuel and tyres
in stops and managed to keep infront of GT, though it sounds like he had some contact.

Only did about 40 laps practice in total (DIY and rapidly approaching wedding getting in the way of my simracing at the moment!  :(  ). made a good start and made up a few places in the opening laps, then made a newbie error (looked in the mirror too long trying to see where H@L was close behind me and missed my braking point). then a slow ride back to the pits for repairs, and a race on my own apart from being lapped by the leaders, but really enjoyed this track

Quite enjoyed that last night. Was going to take the more familiar feeling Aston or fezza, but the funny little NSX felt pretty quick so I opted for that.

Was caught a bit napping at the start as I forgot where the s/f line was and had to fumble around to get off my limiter  ::) I managed to keep H@L in sight for a few laps but was a bit slow at the top of the hill (after the silly bit) and got spun by TT as he tried to take advantage. No problem btw TT, there was an opportunity to pass and you were right to have a go.

I then found myself behind Matt and we had a great few laps together. I was a little quicker, but I couldn't get myself into a position to attempt a safe pass. Matt was also looking for an opportunity to pass APEX so he must have been very busy  8) The fun ended when I had my first of 3 spins going through the silly bit although I did manage to come out of the pits right behind Matt again and we had another good fight.

I hit the wall hard with about 15 minutes to go and the car became very understeery losing me about 5 to 7 seconds a lap and I lost a lot of places towards the end.

I still think these cars are a bit Gran Turismo, but they are fun to drive and they do seem to produce close and exciting racing, which is what it's all about.

Congrats to Berger for the win, Ian in the seriously outclassed McLaren and Lazlow for the podies.

Tough break lazlow. I thought you were gonna bag a win over Berger, no mean feat. Next time?

Thoroughly enjoyed that. Think I had a race long fight to stay in front of Nsfast and Legzy which I just managed to do. Still struggled with tyre wear which just seemed to drop completely after a certain point, at least it didn't catch me out this time. Great driving by all around me :)

Encouraging turnout I thought, just two or three more would make it just about perfect. Fun anyways.

was great to drive this cars again, i had much fun to push this cars around this track.

1st stint i did drive fast but little conservative (as often) and i had a ok gap to lazlow, think 16/17sec. (not 100% sure), then i did pitstop in lap 15, but i did miss my pitboxplace and the crew did not start to make fuel doing, then i did start engine again and did drive another lap, then next lap i did my 2nd try to make pitstop, this time everything ok, but i did come out of track 14sec. behind lazlow now and only 1 sec. in front of ginsters, which was important to stay in front of him if i will try to catch lazlow.
now comes best part of race.
next 6/7 or 8 laps i did push this car totaly on limit with 2.02.xxx laptimes in a row (only 1x2.03 where i had to lapping 2 cars), think this was limit what is possible to drive in this cars for me, totaly on limit i was, but this was great fun and the gap get closer and closer, but then perhaps 4 or 5 laps before end of race, i was 2 or 3 sec. behind lazlow he did spin and hit the wall (if i saw this correct) in the dangerous hard corner, where 2nd sector time is, and i did overtake and he had bad damage and he did slow laptimes, which did make the fun a suddently end, it had can be close i think, i am sure i would come direct behind him in around 2 laps later, but i am not sure if i did overtake??? never we know this now :'(.

then the last lap i did slower drive and drive race home.

congrats to podium

Not sure what happend overall last night, was really enjoying it on friday night, easily in the 05's but straight away last night the car felt horrible with less grip and ended up a bit slower. Seemed to quallify in the right place though as in the race it became quite lonely with Legzy and nsfast disappearing in front and H@L falling off on the first lap.

Spent most of the first part worrying about my fuel needed for the stop as i'd didnt seem to add up in my head with it not going down quick enough and thinking why i was having to put so much in. So decided to delay the stop and 'do an MJ' and stop once the tank was empty as i still wasnt sure about the fuel. Catching up to GT and Matt and i decided to dive in earlier and came out in the same place as i started such was the gaps around.

Then i seem to get caught out at the place i knew was going to be my undoing, braking around the corner into the chicane while then going down then uphill which seemed to fire me head on into the barrier on the inside. This only took out the front splitter but made the car quite dodgy so the next lap or so i lose it and loose the front body! luckily this was near the pits so dived in and waited for a while for a new car. Came out with GT in close company and Tibs nearby and GT seemed to be struggling with his front missing and managed to just drive right by,  but then Tibs decides to use me as brake! so ended up with the same damage all over again :(

With the night starting off on the wrong foot anyway i was happier to jump out then try and finish with just a few laps left.

Oooh Laguna next! thats going to be a laugh :scared:

Another great race again in these cars.  ;D ;D

As usual I started a little conservatively, giving SBG an early opportunity to go past, shortly followed by a minor mistake letting Legzy through. What followed was as intense a battle as I can remember with Legzy for the rest of the race.  :) Whilst in the early part of the first stint Legzy pulled away slightly (and spanner was not far behind  :)), I noticed towards the end of the stint I was able to close up and was able to pass before the stop. We exchanged positions again during the stops with Legzy coming out 4s in front. Lap after lap in the second half was a battle to trim the odd 0.2s off Legzy's lead, anticipating the fall off in performance towards the end. With clock ticking down I finally started to close up and got an opportunity with a couple of laps left when Legzy unfortunately had a spin.  :( Great racing.  ;D

Congrats to the podium and all finishers. Good to see you racing here again Berger...and scoring some good points for the team.

See you at Laguna.
