WOW!!!! This is one technical circuit :sweatdrop: One lapse of concentration and your off into a wall.

I've managed a 1:27 in the Minardi so far with race fuel.

Got to go now so I'm signing off the practice server.

GT has written twice that he's not quite got to grips with LM2 yet, I have the ability/experience to help out with setting this stuff up & I had a rare 10 mins free tonight, I was trying to help out with an event that's in just 3 days time.  ???

Not quite got to grips lol....scared to touch it in case I break it would be more accurate. Thanks for posting this Legzy, I'm sure H@L had it in hand but is maybe busy with other things atm. Details look good, except that I was going to have a race start time of 9pm but it doesn't make that much difference.

This is a nice flowing track once you get to know it and should make a good season opener. I think I'll stick a pass left sign on the back of the Benetton for that long straight though ::)

A night race? I'll gaffa tape some headlights to my front wing then

I meant an actual race start time of 21:00 instead of 20:50 so that those of us with family duties have a bit more slack. Race time should be 2pm. Updated  ;)

Here's some highlights of the real event.....

Got a PB 1:26.2 with race fuel and hard tyres tonight in the Minardi, will hope for solid 27's in the race. Should be a fun.

Been having a go in the Williams... 1:25.5 so far in race trim, but could probably tidy that up a bit.

Having seen all the other times posted (or on server) so far, think I'll take a look at the Benetton tomorrow night which should add at least 1 sec per lap :-\.

p.s. the turn at the end of the long straight is flat out in 6th!  :sweatdrop:

First go at this track. In the Lotus ran a 1:26.5 with race fuel and hard tires. Tricky turn in points. Had to run more downforce than last race.. May even have to run more front wing than rear for this race.. Lots of constant radius corners and that last corner is tough being so off camber.. Seems to have more understeer than most tracks. Cheers :)

I believe Legzy is currently having a look at the 2nd Benetton. In fairness, he's moved down pacewise from the March and was trying the Williams last night but was still a tad too quick.

There should be a few of us on the server this evening....why not pop along and see where you are in the Patrese Williams? By the look of your times atm I reckon it will drop you right in the middle of the action.

Spin when lifting all the time in March, so I will drive Ferri, or if I need demoting put me in a WIlliams please

Interesting stuff tonight. I was into the 24s hotlapping but can't get near that in traffic even when I get a tow on the long straight. Will be difficult to find clean overtaking opportunities in race, but I'll be hoping to pick up any scraps that come my way.

Gotta say too, this track is a work of art  8) It's only when you take a slow drive around you appreciate how nicely done it is.

So very true.. It's a great flowing track when at 8-9/10th's of speed.  Track would be a ton of fun in a RSR 911 ;D.

Indeed, I think racing on this track would be much better with GT classes, the track is too narrow and twisty for this cars. :-\

I expect to last 3 laps. ::)

Martin is going a second faster than me in the Ferri yet we are much the same in the Billiams
Guess I must have an inappropriate setup. Also I was getting the ferri front right dark orange
after a few laps, (with hard tyres) so something is odd.

Hi guys,

Long time no see. I'd like to join once again, but with this f1 mod I'm having some trouble.
It runs fine but for some reason there are no wheels on the cars. My stupidity or is it something I missed.
Please help.

Hi Evert and welcome.

You'll need to go to your plr file and make sure this line reads as follows:

Wheels Visible In Cockpit="1"

You are welcome to join us for this series, but please take some time to read through this thread and choose one of the remaining cars....

I have updated the link for the championship standings page in the first post.

looking forward to this race. I have so far been fastest with wing 50 - 50. I may be able to get a better lap time with it a bit lower but definitely not lower than 40 - 40.

1.27 ish I think it was.

I managed a 25 with 50-50 wing then tried 45-45 wing and got a 24 (TT mode), so I could go a bit faster by reducing it more I think but, that will do for now.

I also had major stuttering on this track and sorted it by turning the shadows and shadow quality down to medium. I have had this on the Nogaro track as well in the past. ::)

Hope you all had a good race. :thumbup1:

Mine ended early again . I don't think I will bother with this any more, I'm just too slow & get in other peoples way. I caught poor Lazlow out by how early I was braking for corners, sorry Lazlow.

Hope you have fun the rest of the season, I'm going to stick to something a bit more sedate.

Well that was a shock to the system  :o. I have absolutely no idea how you guys managed to be so quick in these brutes, so major respect for that! As for me, sadly my geriatric computer seems to be showing age. Despite setting most graphical options on low, I was still having massive FPS drops through the bends on occasion which wasn't exactly helpful when going through the corners at terrific speed!

About 10 minutes into the qualifying, I was getting happier with my setup, although the Lotus still had far too much understeer at low speed, but the soft ARBs helped. I had numerous crashes throughout my run, partly due to me overdriving but I can attribute some of them to my ruddy PC.

As for the race, 3 laps in and enjoying the show up front, another attack of low FPS happened through the middle of the 2nd corner. With that, my car clipped the kerb, spun out, hit the armco ripping a wheel off, race over.

Still, this race was short but sweet. I think I'll be needing a bit more practice in these machine to be truly happy with the setup. I'll make sure to set everything to minimum next time out! See you all at the next one.

That was interesting. was wayy behind martin's pace in qual (I was still running race setup) but was only a tenth off
in race pace. Lowered the car some and suddenly i had more grip without less top end, so that was usefull
Having no idea where the pit entrance was, nevermind what the road in was like, I overcooked it into the fence and
took off the front wing, saw Laz apparently stuck at the pit entrance with a front wheel and wing missing
so as I was already in for a longggg stop, had a go at trying to push him round and to his pit box, but as i was
turning him to face the right direction he left  ??? perhaps my ministrations were not required, and actually
he was just wating for me to get to my box, ahh well best intentions and all that. Unlapped myself from Martin
than caught Jann, and unlapped myself the saem, he seemd to have trouble off line and then quit.

During the race tonight the game returned to desktop no less than 4 times.
It's hard racing on a black screen. Anyone had the same problem or is aware of a solution?
Hope I wasn't in anyone's way tonight.

Surprised to come away with a win tonight as I was well and truly outgunned in quali. Race went as I thought it would, losing places on the straights but able to close back up through the corners but with little opportunity to pass.

A few laps in and in 3rd place, desperate to get on the power I did a 360 pulling onto the straight but fortunately kept it going only losing 3 or 4 places. From then on I made no mistakes and quickly gained back those places as others went off. Had to get a bit defensive with Legzy at the end of the straight at one point, I think you were still far enough behind so I hope that was ok  :-\ Had a very nice battle with spanner which lasted a few laps, very enjoyable. Another chase with Matt which ended when he spun in the same place I had. Made my way up to Navin, who seemed to be struggling for grip as I closed in. I decided to wait to see if he would pit and then cover it but when I caught him I was able to pass easily for 2nd when he went a little wide, or maybe he let me through  :-\

My tyres were holding up better than I'd anticipated so I decided to go for a no stop. With a few laps to go I had Legzy about 4 secs or so behind and gradually closing the gap, while I was closing down Blunder a little quicker. On about lap 26 I saw Legzy run out at T1 which eased the pressure and I was able to concentrate on catching Blunder, who then had a bit of an off and I was through to the lead. A couple of nervous laps on very spent tyres and I was home  :)

Well done to Legzy and Navin and the other finishers and thanks for all who turned out for this  8)

Race had a lot of action the first few laps. I got a good start and through some argy bargy not of my own I was able to sneak through for 2nd. Couldn't stay with Blunder but was able to get a 6 second gap from 3rd. But then a problem arose as the tires wore I realized I missed the setup on this one big time.. I didn't do any long run testing and missed the downforce level for this one. I was way too light at 30F,28R. Once the tires started to go I was a lame duck. Goldtop was the first to run me down and at first I tried to fight but realized all I was doing was slowing GT down in the slow corners and then pulling away on the back straight easily enough that he had no chance of passing even in the draft. So I did pull offline a bit to let you through GT and not slow us both down anymore ;). Plus being so much slower in the corners I was worried about getting hit from behind. Better to fight another day and get some points. More or less the same when Legzy caught me next. They both left me in the dust after that. Just tried to be smooth with everything to get to the end. The last few laps were really slow at like 4-5 seconds off the pace. Kind of like the current F-1 ;D.
Congrats to Goldtop for a well earned comeback win. Grats to Legzy for 3rd place as well.

Would be great to see you Purdie. Would be a good idea to do some runs in the some of the cars at either Brno, Suzuka, Jerez or Jacarepagua to see where you might best fit in. When you've decided, please make your choice here....

Was driving slowly and learning the track a bit more, daring more and more and it was ok ... until H@l spun around the corner. Saw him trying to get out of the way but unfortunately in our eagerness we both went for the same spot. :D Front damage, had to pit and stayed there for two minutes. Changed tyres and had to drive for 45 min with that set then. Well, I must say they fared better than I thought, had to lift off the full speed left hander only towards the end. Back to H@l - things like that happen and we can only be glad the damage is virtual or we would both be very dead. :-\

Must confirm what I said about things going too quick in these cars - my attempt to let by two cars lapping me failed miserably, I went off track and we all lost time. :( Hope things get better when we get to be more confident in these cars.

Ade, did you crash or were you just lazy? ;)

Nice to have some more drivers on the grid, hope you guys can stay with us. Grats pody. :)

I was surprised to see that also, especially as for most of the race I was concentrating on looking after my tyres.

I was also hoping to do the race on one set of tyres, but as I got near the half way point (having to drive at 110% just to stay near the pace) I was starting to loose grip and there was only going to be one outcome. Albeit it was my own fault I had to drive balls out because I followed Ade off the track in one of the corners :-[
I do find it a bit disheartening that you were able to race at 95% of the cars ability though, when I'm having to thrash my car round the track to just to be competitive ??? Maybe the next race will be different.

Post by: goldtop on May 18, 2011, 07:00:48 PM +0100
Ta for putting up that data Lazlow.

I wouldn't say I was driving at 95%, I was on it all race just that I was concentrating on not sliding it around too much. I only eased back on the last lap or 2 when the race was won and I was getting tyre warnings every couple of corners. My fastest lap was on lap 4 when I was desperately trying to keep Legzy behind me and also had some tow from Spanner down the straight. I spun out on the following lap because I was overdriving, but didn't put a foot wrong after that.

I think Jaca particularly suited the Benetton but I don't think it will have the grunt to be competetive on all these tracks. Imola will be very tough for it, so I've already started practising  :)

Great pace in the Minardi Lazlow 8) It's clearly the slowest car on the grid by some way . I wouldn't be disheartened as this is exactly the kind of challenge I had in mind for these races.

Very nicely done track 8) Crying out for a GTC76 race imo. I think they used it over at no grip last season, but can't remember if it was the 88 version.

Yeh it was the 88 version. We raced it with Gp5 BMW CSLs, brilliant track for them!

Can I get some feedback on the circuit please?

I'm considering it for inclusion next season in GTL.

I liked the track Tony. Usually I don't like tracks as flat as this one but this track is an exception. Great flowing corners. Would be great in a 935!!

Guys I need help.
During the race tonight the game returned to desktop no less than 4 times.
It's hard racing on a black screen. Anyone had the same problem or is aware of a solution?
Hope I wasn't in anyone's way tonight.
See you all sppn.

Gr. Evert

Just noticed this. Sounds like a GPU issue. ATI card? I had this happen a few weeks ago when I had a 5770. I eventually changed to a 5850 but it might be a drivers issue.

Is any software doing it? I have had that issue with auto warning message before from anti virus, other security software, low battery warning on a wireless mouse and an auto pop up message from my audio driver when ever I unplugged or plugged in audio devices such as headphones (so if it was not plugged in properly I got repeated messages). Not all of the warnings were on the screen for long enough to see it before the PC went back to the desktop.

Ade had a link to some software that you could set to turn off all the background stuff whilst you raced. After the race you click a button and everything gets turned on again.
It's dead easy to use but I cannot remember what's it's called.
