Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function. You may go as fast as you like in the pits, but please exercise caution. Penalties will be handed out for causing contact in the pit lane. Use your best judgement when making your pitstop during the race.

I ran a race here in this car earlier in the year with R2P. I'll post my setup to get you guys started.
3:01.7 was my quickest quali lap and 3:03.2 was my quickest race lap.

Hmmm...........

Don't think that we are on the same track.

I followed the link and downloaded what was there and I'm lapping at 1:46.xxx.   :whistling:

Does your track take in Sao Paolo city centre?

You are right Clive. The link was incorrect. The link pointed to the modern Interlagos circuit, not the historic 1979 circuit. I have corrected the link.

Many apologies to any who have practiced on the wrong track.
The server is running the correct version. Please try to connect and test.

That's a looooong track to learn  ::). and Yakk  :-[  not my kind off track either. But then again, I guess the chances of being lapped is smaller on such a long track  ;D

just ran my first laps here (did 10) and 3:06 so far.

If (like me) your trying to learn this track for the first time 'and' get to grips with the RSR, i would recommend taking a slower/stable 'trainer' car to get intimate with the tracks config and lines before then venturing out in the RSR, just to eliminate some of the frustration that can creep in when trying to master both!  :P  Its something i always forget to do and yet it makes perfect sense!

The AI RSR's were doing 2:56's  :o and Mikes done 3:01 so plenty of time to find yet with more familiarity.

Turns 1&2 and then particularly 3&4 are an absolute joy to drive when you get them right  8)

The AI typically goes quicker than humans in the 911's for some reason. I enjoy racing against them trying to keep up.

yeah a lot can be learned by watching them onboard, though they are much quicker in these cars due to the feathering throttle adjustments they make mid corner, losing less time than our on/off human inputs.
Nice track this, amazing how much bigger and longer it was compared to the modern incarnation. Bet there are a few cars that would race well here...vettes, 906's and GT40's spring to mind.

Do I remember correctly that you need both GTR2 and GTL to install PnG2? How does GTL go with Win7?

You don't need to have GTL installed afaik. You just need to insert a GTL cd into your pc during installation of PnG.

When PnG V3 comes out you won't even need to do that.

A challenging combination and there are eleventy million varieties!

Can't see it going down too well with the pipe, slippers and Horlicks brigade.   :whistling:

After driving the Matra-Simca MS650 for 22laps around this circuit, the Porsche seems positively pedestrian.

I'm thinking more in terms of bringing her a small gift. She finds the concept of fully grown men spending their time doing PC games hard to understand as it is. If I tell her about Soggy Buttom Racers Club, she'll probably have me declared insane or incapacitated ;)

Done both patches (FFB and Terrain). Even went on the server and rebooted the sim but no joy.

I'll reboot my PC now and see if that fixes it.

Really annoying as Mike's setup was a dream - think I'll take it for a spin on the Nordschlief to cheer myself up  :-\

Hmm, i never got to grips with this car/track combo really. Normally it would fall into place after x-amount of laps but i was still re-discovering the nuances of this car on about lap 10 of 13 of the race  :P  It really likes gentle pre-brake coasting then feathering the throttle through the turns. This P&G RSR drives like a pig compared to the real thing.

Had a decent race start but then fell off half way around lap1 and went to the back...grrr. From then it was a pretty lonely race until first Matt, then Geoffers fell off giving me someone to chase. Finished a lacklustre 7th.

Congrats to John and Ade for the pody.  8)

Post by: Manteos on July 15, 2011, 01:03:41 PM +0100
Finally I came back to race, and it was a really interesting race for me!

First time here in the old interlagos, so I spent all the practice session trying to remember the track... with not much success indeed.

4th place in qualif was not a bad result, but the target was not to lose the contact by ade and Clive during the first laps... At the start, I immediately gained the position on Clive, but he didn't give up at all, and we went side by side for the first 4 or 5 corners withouth any contact.. It was amazing  :o
I understood that Clive was a bit faster during the first laps, so I hooked my Pork at his exhaust, trying to disturb him a bit, but he was simply perfect during the first laps. The battle was really clean and we changed our position for at least 4-5 times, with some good line crossing. After 6 or 7 laps I guess he made a mistake, so our battle has ended, and I tried to hang ade's pork without success. Sometimes I was slightly faster on my laptimes, but the pace wasn't good, so I was at 6-7 seconds by him for the rest of the race.

At the last lap ade made a mistake, and I recovered all the gap, but it was too late to try an attack, and we finished our race with a 0.5 second gap...

However it was a month since my last race, and I was pretty happy for the great fun in the duel with Clive... well done mate!
Grats to John and ade! Cu for the next :)

That race was far from tedious!

Congrats to John, Ade and Manteos and thanks to Manteos for a great battle.

And many thanks to John for his contribution to the SBRC points tally and also for his setup for the RSR.  Chasing John’s TT lap I had managed to do a respectable 3:01.something but in practice I could never find an empty piece of track and qually was frustrating as well.  In the race I was too busy fighting with Manteos to ever find my line.

At the start I was off the line well but since I didn’t want to dispute the first corner with our star man I chose to go wide, and that let Manteos through for the first pass.

As he has said, we swapped places a few times without hitting each other which is always rewarding.  I think that we each recognised when we had lost a corner and that our relative pace was so close that there was a good chance of another go to redress the balance.

At about lap six I made my first error which opened up a gap but I was getting my head down after that and beginning to close when I suffered brain fade at T3 on lap ten and only changed down once.  Thankfully the catch fence was only the pretend sort.

With only three laps to go I wasn’t able to close again, although I did take a few seconds off of him.  A shame about lap ten, otherwise I would have finished very close to the Manteos/Ade battle for third.

It was a challenging car and track combination and I enjoyed it.  Shame the entry was low.

Guess that the roller skate race at Cadwell will be more popular.
