I reckon Mexico will be the most unpredictable round this series. Half the lap is an extremely technical series of turns leading onto a short straight followed by a flatout 6th gear corner which then leads onto the s/f straight, at the end of which the faster cars will be nudging 200mph :o The fastest hotlap setup might not turn out to be the best racing setup  :-\

Approximate times so far:

Not had much practice here yet, but I'm at 1:16 in the Benetton atm which I think I can reduce slightly. A quick blast round in the other cars with very rough setups and the Lotus was also around 1:16 while the McLaren and Ferrari were 2 seconds quicker at around 1:14 with the March somewhere in between. The Coloni at around 1:18 for me was just over 2 seconds slower than the Benetton and Lotus.

Another reminder please....

If you want to change your car or have not yet chosen a car and want to take part, please post here....

I tried (offline) all the pack with full tank, just to see the difference in terms of laptimes... it was pretty scary  :o :o

McLaren: 1.11.5
Ferrari: 1.12.0
March: 1.12.6
Lotus:1.12.8
Arrows:1.12.8
Williams: 1.13.0
Ligier: 1.13.9
Benetton: 1.13.9
Minardi:1.15.0
Coloni: 1.15.7

Surprising that Minardi and Coloni are faster using only 5 gears, the 6th is pretty unuseful with high wings on these 2 cars. However, I will try again to get the podium with the Coloni, it will be an hard challenge but... never give up!

Cu soon  :)

Yikes... Those are some fast times.. Track dependent I'm either hot or cold with these cars.. Best I could do is a 1:17.2 in the Lotus so far :-[

Just did a 1:17.4 with 50F/50R downforce.. Then with 10F/11R did a 1:17.6 :-\ :-\ :-\ 40kph different in top speed.. Going to be a wacky race ;D

I was testing last night for a few hours ??? to get used to both the Benetton and this veeeery techincal track! Son Guku was on there in the Ligier - this guy can drive! ... 1m10.8s !!!!  :P

I finally broke through a mini-barrier to stop doing 17s and slowly crept up to 14s. Fastest is now 1m14.3 but that was softs with quali fuel.... sill can't go faster than 181 mph  :-\

track is extremely bumpy and car needs zero understeer and can change direction nicely without the back-end jumping out (with the Benetton anyway!) ... S2 is so hard and tricky!!!

My quickest lap in the Benetton is a 1:13.7 with race fuel. My average lap time is 1:14.5 to 1:15 as it is so difficult to be consistent through the twisty bit.

This will be a tough race.

I guess he should drive a weakened Zakspeed ;)

My quickest lap in the Benetton is a 1:13.7 with race fuel. My average lap time is 1:14.5 to 1:15 as it is so difficult to be consistent through the twisty bit.
It means I will be approximately 1.5/2 seconds slower risking in every corner >:(

Benetton: 1.13.9

don't happen to have this setup do you ?  ;)
That's my Benetton setup: http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/Benetton%20F188.svm?a=rte6wduX2Zw (http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/Benetton%20F188.svm?a=rte6wduX2Zw)

I did not improved it so much, but... give it a try ;) Remember to keep the 5th gear during the last corner, because if you go up to 6th in the middle of the corner, you will loose a lot of speed. Check the steer lock if it's too low for your taste (it depends on the steering wheel you use). Cu :)

Best of 1:16.3 in my Williams so far. But it's not the easiest track to get to grips with, so should find some more pace yet... I imagine I'll be in the 15's for the race. :-\

Lotus:1.12.8

Would love to try you Lotus set Manteos ;) I know that wont count for the 5 seconds I'm off.. I'm just slow here.. And I like the track!! Very technical.. More than my brain can handle apparently

Already helped me Manteos :) I used your Benetton setup on Lotus with minor gear tweaks and did a 1:14.9 quickly ;D Not a 1:12.8 but at least I'm out of the 1:17's!!

Yeah great setup Manteos in the Benetton!! Down to the low 14s now and high 14s with race fuel.

It really is about nailing S1 and S2.... seconds are literally lost when you miss one apex as it had a knock-on effect for the following corners  :P

Look forward to the race  :D

It boots as possible cheat 3 or 4 times before it decides to let you on.
keep trying, eventually it will probably let you in.

Dan, I had that happen lots of times. I eventually created a fresh install just for this mod and (fingers crossed) no trouble since. Regards the fuel, I'll turn a couple of laps later and let you know the xd figures if no-one beats me to it.

Ok Goldtop i may have to do that.  I think the fuel is around 4.5L a lap but be good if you could have a look for me ... ;)

Second that.. For the first couple of races I had some issues in an old GTR2 install that had a ton of add-ons.. Made a new install for this alone.. Knock on wood. Been good ever since ;D.

Well for the nostalgia... I found the results from 1988 and some footage!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84KPzDvkgds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84KPzDvkgds) (and the respective parts)

Wow the Benetton really was shocking, but on the plus side we're all about 3 secs quicker then Senna's pole lap!!!

Discoed after a few laps after making my way up to 3rd  :(  Just hope I didn't cause any mayhem.

Good to see so many on the grid tonight, even if some of them STILL DIDN'T SIGN UP  ::)

Guys....I don't want to spend half the night doing admin...I have enough of that &$%$ at work. If you want to drive then please at least let me know here so that we don't get any duplication of cars....

Would be helpful too if those who can't make it for particular races could try to let me know so that I can make cars available.

Hope you had a great race  :)

Was loving it untill i started to panic over wether there was a mandatory stop or not and spun coming out of T1 damaging the front wing.    Limped back to the pits but crashed entering the tight corner on the entry to pit road.    ::)
Realise now i didnt need to stop , shame as my tires would have lasted the whole race.

bring on the next round.

cheers

CTD shortly after my pit stop. :(

I was having a great race up until that point. I was in the middle of 2 other cars going the main straight at one point. Great stuff. I had some nice fights with several different drivers.

I had to pit for new tyres half way as mine were shot and never would have lasted. Mind you I may have lost it after a while as I had 2 very close calls in the first 17 laps.

See you all next time. :)

Rode a curb in first lap, how smart is that?! :-X
Trailed slowly around the whole lap, pitted, repaired, came out and was two laps behind everybody. :P Couldn't afford to change tyres again, so I drove on until the next accident. Kissed the wall and said goodbye. ;D

Car was much looser in qual and race than it had been in prac
maybe I was just trying harder.
Anyway, usual Ferrari story, very fast for athe 1st few laps
then 2- 3 secs off the pace after 10 laps, went in pits on lap18
to change tyres as they were down to nothing at the front
and about a 1/4 left at the back. forgot about the tight chicane
on pit entrance, and took a wheel off, and again i got a red cross
against the missing wheel, and the crew refused to replace it
end of race. hacked off with the damage model in this sim
it's bad enough that things break so easily, realistic or not
if the crew won't replace damage it's a bit naff. Two races in
a row I have lost a wheel, my own fault, but had to quit
without the option of taking a long stop to fix stuff.

It's not funny to race only to defend the position pulling the braking. I would like to have some chance to try at least an attack for the next.

This is a video about Coloni's engine strating procedure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-MhL4B7UFU&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-MhL4B7UFU&feature=related)

This is my last race with Coloni for sure... I've had enough of it...

Dan and Son were untouchable in Qualy.. Then Matt put together a great lap for 3rd on the grid.. So started 4th and got a good jump at the start for 3rd but was quickly dispatched again by Matt. Then GT got by me shortly after. CAr didn't feel quiet right but after GT got by the balance came to me and I was able to match pace in a Benetton sandwich with Purdie right behind. It was sizing up for a great close battle up front then GT disappeared on the screen what looked like a super battle to come never materialized :( Because of Matt's and GT problems I inherited 3rd place and was just able to stay in touch with Dan. That only lasted a few laps and then Dan pulled away as the tires started to wear. After that I was basically all alone for the rest of the race..  I noticed first Son pitted and then Dan so I hoped my pace would hold on for the win.. Once we cycled around once I noticed Son was like 14 seconds behind with like 12 laps to go..  I'd be a lame duck once he got to me so I just tried as hard as could. To no avail Son passed me with around 6 laps to go. Once he got by his pace slowed just a bit and I was about 5 seconds behind trying like hell. Then I noticed the lapped car of Evert's gaining on me big time through the s's and I would of been happy enough to pull over to the side once through the s's but that was not to be as Evert's must have pitted and was on fresh tires and was much quicker then me at that point. Got drilled by him entering the back straight spinning me out and breaking my rear and front wings after hitting the wall. There was 4 laps left and I had 50 seconds on SRW so I soldered. No way I was gonna pit and I was fortunate  to have the front wings and not just the rear gone because the balance was OK and not a spinning beast. Then for some reason Evert stayed behind me for the next lap and that was not needed bro as you were a lap down and believe me I didn't want your car around me as I was struggling with no wings, no tires and had no pace whatsoever. Plus, I did noticed you almost hit me again on the next lap in the very same spot when you first hit me. Best to just clear the guy and let them be ;) So even with the kaos I got lucky and managed to finish 2nd. Big congrats to Son who was flying!! and to SRW who finally gets his well deserved podium ;D

You need to do that yourselves Navin. If you go to LM2/ team management/ there is a list of all those in your team. At the bottom is bit to send an invite to others.

Great fun that. Glad to have finally finished a race  :). My pace was more respectable this time round although I was struggling with the Lotus's understeer and chewing the front tyres to pieces. I was very pleased not to have spun or crash this race but made an almighty cock-up in the pit lane. I didn't realise the limiter turned itself off after my stop, hence requiring to do a stop and go for pit lane speeding  ::).

I must apologise to Manteos who got caught out by my appalling corner speed on worn tyres, and crashing into the back of me, ending his race. My Lotus was understeering like the Titanic just before my first stop. For the next race at Montreal, I'll give a lower steering lock a try, as it was probably one of the causes of my high tyre wear this race.

Congrats to all on the podium  :).

This is starting to be an issue. It's not fair to GT who does a lot of busy work putting these together and wants to play just like the rest of us... It's the very least a mate can do is give a heads up to the chairman on any given series. The fear is those driver's that should be reading this post aren't.. And never will. My suggestion to GT is if someone new doesn't bother to sign up at least 24hrs before race start they are out. If they really want to race these cars I bet they will read you post's GT if they get turned away in practice literally minutes before a race.. Will be the first thing they do... And if they don't we never needed them in the first place..

Such a tricky track... felt like I couldn't do enough practise.

Was good to qualify in the 13s in a non-turbo car (not that it is any slower  ;)) and quali 6th.... start was a bit odd... not bad for a first attempt Son but at one point i think we stopped  :-\ loooll

Great driving right behind my team-mate for a little while before he pulled a gap... was looking good for GT until the CTD  :( I carried on and was 3rd at one point but a couple of lapses in concentration I twice missed my braking point at T1 and one down-changed to 1st too quickly and spun  :-X

Changed for another set of softs at the halfway mark and carried on from 8th to recover 4th for the line.

Sorry to Evert who I tapped into T5... a lot slower on the apex then I was used to so ended up punting your rear-end (were you damaged?). And then the 2nd time where you lifted, I was drifting over and lifted in a panic when your car slowed and started the sequence of spins we all ended up doing.... Spanner got caught up and lost his wing and Son I believe as well  :'( sorry for any confusion.

Grats to Son and Narvin  :)

Forget about it ;). The trouble of these cars is that they are very fragile, and when I saw that my front wing flew away, I was just a bit upset cause I would have lost every chance to compete... So, I immediately gave up...
It was even my father's birthday, and I prefered to keep company to him instead of continuing to demoralize my self with this Coloni gas heater  ;)

Cu :)

You should stop the masochism in the Coloni, it's too slow even for a setup god like you.  ;D

I'm on the case  ;)

Plan B is a bit of a reshuffle, while Plan A is a bit more exciting.

Just call me Mr Ecclestone
