Yep....

Looks like he only put a wheel on the dusty stuff.

The sim version is a lot easier than that, but it will certainly take some learning.

done the equivalent of about 35 laps (just all on the same sector lol) and it is a tough track, gonna be VERY challenging to get a decent lap time out of. Best I've managed so far is 1:42, which can't be good!!

seems you need lots of wing and very short gears, mainly for slowing down lol

As I say, tough track, but I think it will be an interesting race (wouldn't fancy doing the moderators report for this one though  ;D )

Wow! What a surprise this track is ;D.. When I saw this on the calendar I thought, oh crap.. Another street course. That sucks.. Should of gone to the Glen.. But, I've never been here before and always good to try new tracks. Also, I like authenticity in a series at times so alrighty then.. I think I'm like most that I don't like street course's too much other than Monaco or Macau. But after a go here yesterday this is a pretty good street track.. Love that turn one.. Did around 10 laps tonight with hard tires and race fuel with a best time of 1:36.5

Yep, I did a low 1.36 in the Fezza but have now jumped into the Williams and am doing a low 1.39 now!
Hope thats a better pace!?

I've done 22 laps here in the Benetton and my best time is leary 1:35.268 with race fuel. Doubt I'll be racing near that pace though as I'll last 3 laps if that  ::)

Might jump on the server later on.

hmmm, changed to the fezza as was 2 secs slower than in the March doing 1:44 lol, however with a lot of practice and a much lighter pair of boots on managed a VERY ragged, undoubtedly unrepeatable 1:35:8, but consistent pace seems to be mid 37's to 38's in race trim, which if GT's time is anything to go by should hopefully make me competitive mid pack

Reading through the times provided so far, looks like we're aiming for a race laptime of about 1:36-37

Will get in some practice on the server straight after tonight's Evo race @Silverstone (by about 10pm :)).

I was stuck in the 38's, chipping away at my time, got down to a 1:38.2.... The I followed Lazlow round (who was in the 36's) & now I've managed a 1:35.5

Should be in the 36 region occiasionally in the race, that wont be much use though, if I continue to put it in the wall every 3rd lap ::)

Prediction - If you finish, you'll be on the podium! :scooter:

REALLY looking forward to this one, hated the track at first, but it does have a really nice flow to it once you get going. managed a 35.4 in the Fezza, but ave time in race trim seems to be mid 36's for me now, which I'm pretty happy with. Interestingly I did a quick 3 laps in the March as a comparison and managed a 36.2XX, that's 6 secs quicker than I was in it before I swapped to the Fezza, which would bear out the comment about practice with this mod.

Yep, I found that it does reward a steady approach. With all those 90 degree corners you'd think it would be heaven for the last of the late breakers, but that's not really the case once the track is learnt.

Here's how the experts did it......

Hope I make it to the end  :-\

I used the default setup and just increased the coast from 0 to 60, and preload to 5
I also spent a lot of time playing around with the gearing, I made mine short to help me get round those tight 90 degree corners.
The most important thing to do though is LAPS, this is a tricky track to learn master but when it clicks its very rewarding.

It's going to be a tough race, let's just hope we don't get a huge pile up :P

I think patience is the key here. Aim to finish and wait for clear opportunities would be my advice and most of all, take it steady for the first couple of laps.

aye! after 2 DNFs and a 4th it would be nice to grab a podium. 36s so far too on race setup.... great track, really really surprised!  :)

Pile on the downforce for this one Tom. Monaco setup should work pretty well here. You can probably get away with a little shorter gearing too ;).

is there a mandatory pti stop for this?

Tom, I've gone full wing, preload 10, coast 80 (seems to REALLY help with scrubbing the speed round those 90 deg turns), power 15

Tried short gearing, but found I was losing time with all the shifting, so opted to top out 5th instead

I got in to the hate phase and refused to get out of it! Not just the track , the lack of any feel when driving normally in the wheel, then the occasional jolt in gentler corners means i'm already flustered and not happy before i've even tried look at the track. I've got the centring spring at 50% and its done nothing, but i'm having to drop the FFB to reduce the spikes.

OK tonight, couldn't entirely focus during the race as little one was quite restless & I had to pull over a couple of times to check all was OK & stick the dummy back in ::)

I like tracks like this, but I remember from organising PnG & GTL races that they were never very well attended, which is a shame :(. Hope everyone comes back for the next round!

Brilliant track, brilliant race!!!!
Couldn't put a decent lap together in quallly, then clipped SRW at turn one after having already outbraked myself and dropping to the back of the pack. Lost my front wing during the incident with SRW and had to pit. Almost ran out of fuel on lap 20 (should have enough for the whole race?) and had to pit, got a tyre warning the following lap and had to pit!!!

Still managed to make up alot of time on the softs I put on and thank you to GT for letting me past, which gave me a podium, he could've probably held me til the end, or we both went off lol

That was a tough race

Too many distractions for me this evening and never got into the flow. Had a couple of silly spins and then broke my front wing trying to get it facing the right way again....x3  :wetfish: :wetfish: :wetfish: After the third time and with only 8 laps to go (and a quick bit of maths) I elected to tough it out without pitting for repairs. I might have just held on for a pody had I not clipped the armco and picked up suspension damage, but by that point Jamera had almost closed in on me and there was no point trying to defend. Nice drive J and well deserved  8)

Congrats also of course to Navin and Purdie for a dominant show  8) and thanks to all who turned out.

Sorry to hear about your frustration with the ffb Spanner. I know you've tried my settings but can't get on with them....maybe if a few could post their ffb from their plr files together with Logitech profiles.

Well that's the ugly one out of the way in this RL season. Off to the south of France next week and one of my favourite circuits, Ricard  8) I predict a healthy grid  :)

A very very tough race :sweatdrop:..  I was spent afterwards like no other race this year . Plus, I had some real distractions here at my house that was being painted as we raced. Banging, sanding, dog barking and the fear that one of them would have to ask me a question during the race. I felt like a child having to tell the Foreman that I would still be at home but couldn't be disturbed because I was going to be racing with my buddies online.. He just looked at me funny ::) and said no problem. As far as the race went I had a great time for the first 1/3 chasing Sam who was very fast and consistent. He was driving very well and I couldn't break his concentration. Then for some reason he just went straight through at one of the tight corners.. Didn't look like he missed his braking point and he did just leave the race after that so I guessing he had some distraction at home that needed his attention. Hope we can finish that battle in the future Sam :thumbup1: After that, I was basically alone in 2nd and was content to have a good 2nd place finish. Then I saw Andy pitted around the halfway point so I figured he must of been on soft tires. Not sure if his pace would run me down late in the race but that really didn't matter because I just tried to be consistent and save some tire for the end which I knew would be difficult here.. Unlike Montreal I couldn't get really good consistent laps and towards the end I was really struggling at anywhere from 3-4 seconds a laps slower than my earlier race pace. To the point, I made a mistake exiting onto the last back straight and knocked my front wing off with 3 laps to go.. Then like a chump I didn't look and see if anyone was coming and when trying to get the car turned around the right way I drove right into Legzy's way :-[ sorry mate. The good thing is I don't think it affected his race finish so if I was to have a momentary lapse of reason.. That was a good time. After that I just limped around with no front wing and finished the race. Congrats to Andy for a long deserved podium finish. Grats also to Jamera for his solid podium as well ;D. And to all that finished this very difficult track ;) I wont be looking back to race this track for awhile :P

Was excellent fun Navin. That lap I went off was simply embarrassing. I was daydreaming for a few seconds and before I knew it I was carrying too much speed to make the turn so thought I'd go straight on instead of risking losing my front wing. That plan didn't work as I hit an invisible wall and knocked off the front wing anyway  ::). Later in the lap, with a loss of downforce, I did the same thing again and hit another wall, stalling the engine!  :-[

Before that moment I was loving the race. I must thank Navin for not trying anything rash or desperate because I was sure I was slowing him down in the corners only for the Honda's power to allow me to gain some space on the straight. This F1 series is simply brilliant, and I'm particularly enjoying the street circuits, despite them being savage when you make a mistake. Congrats to all the finishers.

Have to say this circuit is great  :thumbup1: Ditto what Samb said about the F188 and street track combos.

Sorry to join Navin in more car jumping but if GT is happy I don't mind jumping out of the Lotus. The pace wasn't all of the car, I must have done at least 3 hrs practise!!! but happy to stick with it otherwise!!  :-*

Even less excuse for the two nose-cones I lost tho  ::) Was happy with pole and with my team mate in 2nd. Started with 90L and hard tyres as the wear rate was 2% per lap! Managed to pull a slowly increasing gap on Samb and Navin and then my about 1/3 way thru my phone went and I looked over to see who it was... and clipped an inside wall which sent me into another losing nose cone and damaging splitter & suspension & hard tyres. I recovered a lap down after full repairs and still 2nd! seemed we all pitted for repairs at the same time!!!  :o

I unlapped myself from Navin who I guessed was pacing himself and just let me by. Didn't realistically think I could close down a laps gap on him but was banking he would have to stop for tyres (as was my original plan before the crash!). I ended up trying too hard and clouting the wall, and pitting again just for a nose cone this time. Still managed 2nd somehow!!!

Grats Navin for another solid and almost drama-free drive   8)

I would happily do a season of Detroit and Monaco on cycle   :D  ;)

I think you're suffering a bit from "goldtop syndrom" here Andy  Loads of practice and enthusiasm means that you are unbalancing yourself. Couple that with the fact that you arrived a bit later to this mod and now that you're familiar with it, your true pace is shining through. I'm sure no-one here will object to you trying a slower car though ;)

We are currently exploring ways of tweaking the format for next season and I'm hopeful it will produce an even better series than this one.

Nice track.

I missed my braking point at T1 on lap 10, game over. :-X

Just a few more laps of practise would have helped I think. ::)

Well done all, as we do not know that track as well, it was potentially more difficult than Monaco. With the same level of knowledge of the track Monaco would still be harder I believe.

Having a good dice is what it is all about Sam!! I would rather have a good battle that lasts the entire race even if I don't get the position as opposed to a flag to flag win any day ;D Great to hear a next season too  ;)
