took to the track for the first time properly in these beasties. Did a 1:31 after 5 laps with 50mins fuel onboard and qualied 4th on the grid lol  ;D  Any good?  Had no idea on setup, just guessed at it!

Fast buggers arent they?!

On 50 mins fuel and presumably hard tyres, that's really not a bad start MJ. It took me a while to get used to the speed, but the key was to be as smooth as possible and resist the temptation to brake late especially into sweeping corners as it kills the balance. Getting the ride height sorted and using slightly more front wing than rear helps.

You'll reach the point where everything becomes like slow motion and that's when the big chunks of time will start falling off.

These cars can be weird to get up to speed at a given track.. I had the hardest time breaking through a certain time barrier at Mexico(so did others as it seemed) but then after 3 sessions and maybe 40+ laps the time came down by about 3-4 seconds..

Server is up.

There is an optional texture update for Mugello which makes it look even more pretty here.....

Just finished some training laps in practice 1 session, and my best was a 1.24.3 with race fuel... but I could do something better I guess.
Lele was on a low 1.23 in his best lap, and I guess he would like to join this race if it's ok.

I hope to be able to join the race too! Cu soon :)

1:29 for me with 40mins fuel onboard. Not done any qually runs yet wth lightfuel but looks i will be a few secs off some peoples pace!  :-[
What sort of wing settings should you use here? Ive tried some small tweaks but they seem to make the car worse.

Hmmm, late1:27's is the best I can manage consistently in the Fezza here, and it's eating my tyres doing that. watched Son do an effortless 1:21 on the server tonight, absolutely blinding to watch. Feelings of inadequacy creeping in lol

There will be a huge variation in pace tonight, which is just what I expected. However this race and next week's at Interlagos will give valuable data for the rest of the championship.

Don't forget that both these spec races count towards the championship, but that your worst 2 results will be dropped.

You won't need 40 minutes fuel.....check your xd as the in game fuel readings can be way off in these cars. Try keeping the front wing slightly higher than rear. 18/15 seems about right for me but I suspect fast guys will be much lower. I hope to be lapping around mid 25s.

Note
I might not be around to restart the server, so please can someone step in if there's no sign of me by 19:40.

Just discovered our server is now running "UKGTR Mugello"  ???

Hadn't planned to use this (because I didn't know we had a UKGTR version), but it makes sense as our version is supposed to help with tyre overheating problems.

Just make sure our UKGTR folder is inside your Mugello folder in your Locations and you are good to go.

..does it affect/use the texture mod?

I still get a weird graining effect on the tarmac in some corners but the update sorted most of it out. Found it worse on the Road America track from sunday so not sure if its my settings.

I believe the UKGTR version will still use the texture update (which of course is optional). I too had trouble with Road America in the past but there is a "no sparkly track" fix at no grip which made it better for me.

Sorry, I see no funfactor in this mod. Also the constant vibration of other's cars due to the netcode is annoying :(.

Not had time to do any prac at all, started from the back, and gradually got faster, I was getting a lot of warp from the
borrowed conn I am on, and managed to outbrake SRW by 100 YDS and took his rear wing off, very sorry
Left in disgust as punishment.

b'ah evening didnt go as planned. Didnt get home until end of praccy, had to jump straight in qually with no familiarity laps. Was quite pleased with myself to get into the 26's and 12th, especially when i realised i had used hard slicks for all of qually!!  ::)

Race start was okay, harassing Legzy for first few laps, got by him, but then ran wide at T1 and dropped behind spanner. Chased them hard but then ran a little wide round the back of the circuit, gave it the beans too soon as i was rejoining and it snapped me into the armo breaking my suspension and front wing  :'(  Race over.

Gutted, was having a fairly good race then Blunder came out of the last turn much faster than me and came up the inside into turn 1. I was so worried about turning into him that i ran slightly wide and as I turned back into 1 I clipped Spanner (sorry mate). A full lap without a front wing and a good 3min + pit stop for repairs put paid to my race

What he said, once I got rid of the under-steer, the Fezza felt great here. Really nice combo & hopefully most of the grid will hang round for the whole season 8)

no problem phspok, i only managed 15 mins practice for this race so was well off the pace. This track was made for these type of cars! much more fun than racing GT1's round here, just wish i had had a bit more practice time

Bad start to the season for me  :'(

Qualied 5th but halfway round lap one was bumped off into the armco and suffered broken suspension and front wing  :( Wasn't sure what had happened, but looking at the replay Jubei had a BIG lag and ended up straight into my rear...no-one's fault, just one of those things. A slow rejoin and limp to the pits for 2 minutes repairs and my race was effectively finished.

Congrats to Son for his win and fantastic pace and well done to Lazlow, TT and H@L for what looks like a very close fight for the pody.

My first lot of data gathered

Had always liked the look of Mugello when the Moto GP guys are there but had never turned a lap here before last night. Had maybe 10 laps here last night and got the layout but was too tried for any more running.. I knew I'd have plenty of time before the race to practice so I just hoped for the best. As it turned out I got up to speed fairly late but none the less was feeling pretty good about the track. The Ferrari on the other hand wasn't my cup of tea as I just couldn't get a good balance with her. Either understeering to the point of knackering the front tires in a hurry too so loose that I can't get the power down without lured oversteering on exit. So I had to stay conservative on setup and knew I would be hurting later in the run with understeer. As it turned out it went just that way and although  I was in 3rd for a few laps I made 2 mistakes on one lap that took me off track shortly and dropped back to 6th.. I wasn't able to keep up with Hal at that point so I just soldered on. Got a gift of 5th place from Andy pitting. I then came up to Jamera who had pitted earlier and was a lap down was gracious enough to let me by. You weren't holding me up at all Jamera but it was a classy move none the less ;) After that is was just get to finish line time.. Love the track and would have to agree that this place is made for these types of cars ;D

Ferrari surprised me with even more understear than Arrows. ::) Quali was ok, 4th in this competition feels quite ok. :) Made a mistake in the opening laps and fell to 7th place I think. Kind people and / or some of their mistakes enabled me to advance to 3rd place. Last few laps were hellish pace of Purdie, H@l, Lazlow and me with similar pace. :)

Had a terrible feeling I had rear-ended GT thinking I had lag  :-\ and watching the replay Jubei had frozen and instantly appeared in front of him... very unlucky

Took me ages to get the times down below 1m26 and GT's setup helped me hugely ( ;))... while Son  :alien: took off (after a bizarre rolling start he was 10 secs ahead right away) it left us humans to fight for best of the rest  ::)

Had great fun with TT, Navin, Lazlow & H@L  :) just a shame I chickened out and pitted. Got freaked out by the 'tyres worn' message on only lap 11... most likely the daftest pit-stop ever in hindsight  :-[ and barely recovered finishing 8th  :D

Yea sorry about that wasn't quite sure what to do as Son & Jubei were sprinting around the last corner, and as I knew they were in class of there own anyway I didn't try and close the gap and decided to keep to our normally rolling start procedure and applied the pit limiter just after the last corner.

Good race for me although that Ferrari has some serious understeer issues ;D At the end of the race my front tyres were on 40 wear!!!

Grats to TT & H@L for keeping me honest, was tough trying to stay ahead of the chasing pack 8)

Shame you pitted Purdie would of been a great battle with all 4 of us together on the track :fencing: maybe next time ;D

No problem Jubei, good to have you racing with us.

I believe you and Son are brothers? Please remember both of you to keep the pit speed limiter engaged until you cross the start finish line at the end of the formation lap. More details of starting procedure are here....

Good fun that race, even if I was miles off the pace. It seems I've still got plenty of practicing to do, as I've only really been competitive at Detroit in these cars. A spin on the first lap put near the back of the pack and that's where I stayed for the rest of the race. I was hoping for some attrition but it seems everyone was driving well (annoyingly so  :D). Congrats to those on the podium.
