Got to go out at 7 but hopefully I'll be back by 9.  Wouldn't want to miss this, one of my favourite tracks and favourite cars.

It does say "Lotus BRM" plus the 3 ltr Lotus Ford DFV was not around in 1966  ::)

Had some fun tonight. OK I was slow - very slow - very very slooooow. But I was driving for a finish. I was super cautious off the line and did my best first sector and amazingly could still see other people. After that it was lonely. Once I'd got to three I wanted to try and set a PB and it was going nicely but I span as I landed at Flugplatz and that was that. Annoyed with myself because I could have beaten Evil again...

Order will be restored on Sunday.

Amazing pace from H and I am NOT looking forward to doing the race report for this one. It might be a bit skimpy.

Enjoyed that race.  Had good battles with Goran and Ronnie until a shunt at the start of the last lap.  I cannot believe the pace of H at the front, I think I'll have to watch the server replay to see how it is done :o.  Grats to Bernie on a finish, not easy to do here on PRO!

Watch my last lap then, I really went for it on that one. The car was just a joy to drive, predictable and progressive in sliding. Having a stable front really helped a lot.

For some reason GPL wouldnt let me load any 66mod set ups , so used the "default"  which I found wasn't to bad , (having had a few laps with Martin this affy and was able to race with him so thought "come the race I should be fairly" competative ) As it turned out the default was really poor with  race fuel (or more likely the pilot was really poor ) Felt pretty whacked after a visit to the dentist today  'Oh the pain, the pain! which didnt help concentration and binned it on L1 losing a lot of ground , Jon O kept me awake for a few laps but the Ford power was no match for Repco's best and he dropped back after a few laps leaving me a steady drive for a finish .

Prib was telling me Phil and Ronnie were pretty close so was hoping they might be fighting (which they were )  and maybe have an off (which they did) obliged for that gents but deep down sorry it didnt go to the finish (so near yet so far )

At least I got a result and confirmed the PC is doing everything right , even though the operator is still making errors  ::)

Grats to Hristo and the pod boys and to those who finished , well done  :)

And hard cheese to all those that got to walk home instead  ;D

The plot to destroy all my Championship hopes at Ukgpl, continues - fully expected to disco from The Nurb. at some point.

Took a leasurly 1st practice lap, except I brushed the wall exiting the final chicane, and me wheel fell off!  rather impertinent, I thought . . . someone obviously didn't do a nut up, tight enough,  But seatbelts were still a novelty, you know.  2nd lap saw only a couple of mistakes, and with my Brabby nicely connected to the road, I started the race in 5th. :D

Earlier plans to quietly drive to a points paying finish, don't seem to be working out in '66.  I soon had a Honda, with a struggling Clive in my sights, and by the end of lap one, the roles were reversed, and I was up to 3rd.  Not expecting to survive my Internet curse, I wasn't hanging about, and managed to hang on to my position up until the flat out compression, approaching Adenauer Forst.  The car bottomed out, and it was soon reversing it's way towards the nearest tree, at rather a high speed!  Hadn't happened in practice, but maybe the race adrenaline had made us rush?

My race was ended, but the connection lasted, which means I was taunted, while skills were flaunted, as I stayed to watch.  It's a hard life, but someone has to live it!  :-\

Grats to Hristo and his Macca. He seems to have found the sweet spot for that chassis.

I felt obliged to take the Waza as SHE was watching from the wings ( although I saw no aerodynamic appendages on my car!!??).

The qually lap went quite well although the car felt a little un-connected to the tarmac at times and I found myself in 3rd only a couple of secs behind FMG and about 10 secs behind Hristo.

Hristo's Macca bogged down off the start and I suspect H had a very long 1st gear for use elsewhere around Nurby. Tim fired his Lotus BRM/Cosworth/Ford/Merlin off towards T1 with me in pursuit. The Honda felt very slippery and with Hristo closing fast I thought it best to not contest 2nd place and allow him through so that I could run in free space until tyres warmed up....but they didn't.

I followed Hristo and Tim and a safe distance and was surprised to see Tim try and trim some foliage on the run down to Adenauer ? Bridge. I was able to squeak through and take 2nd spot just in time to watch a pair of McLaren exhausts get smaller and smaller in the distance  :-\

I knew from qually that Tim's pace was probably similar to mine and I tried to maximise the straight line speed of the Waza and pull a comfort gap...bad move on cold tyres :-\ and I did some extreme grass cutting. Tim retook 2nd spot.
I'm not sure whether that "off" damaged anything, but as the race progressed the Honda handling became more and more bizarre and unpredictable with snap oversteer followed by chronic understeer and sudden tendencies to examine the local foliage!!

I thought that I had got to grips with the wierd handling and things could not get any worse. I was just beginning to squeeze the gap down to FMG, when it really bit me in the a** and I discovered that things could get worse if your car only had 3 wheels!!  ::)

For some reason, season 21 is not one that will go down in Waza history as one of "Evil's Best". I seem to be a DNF in more races than I actually start, if that is possible.

Grats to H and all the finishers...something I have to re-learn I think.  :-\

Grats to Hristo and the pod boys and to those who finished , well done  :)

Thanks Bernie, so you mean Grats to the pod boys and yourself, as there were no other finishers. I second, that Grats Hristo, Tim and Bernie, well done.

My own race were rather quiet because I totally missed the start, found myself behind Phil and did not want to take too great risks so I stayed there until he made a small mistake. By then Hristo, Tim and Evil were long gone and I settled for p4, but then I saw Evil in problem so I inherited the last podium position.

Even if there were only four finishers at lest there were 10 drivers that got points and that is, along with Panchine, the best we had all season and now that we are going to Schottenring, another long interesting circut, we may need some encouragement.

Sorry again Phil, it was the last thing I wanted as the last lap should and would have been spectacular going by are battle up to that point. I pulled off immediately but the damage was done, my fault. Enough bad, my memory will be the sight of us both coming over the jump on the long straight side by side and airborne on lap 5. Now that replay I will keep.

Couldn't decide which of the slow cars to take - nearly plumped for the Eagle as it handled beautifully, but it overheated something cronic so I was too worried about reliability to take it (So I took a BRM H16 instead!  :ninja:)
I briefly played with the McLaren but hadn't had time to sort it properly, even if I had I doubt I'd have managed to even stay near Hristo....

The start went well right until the fast chicane before Adenau - where I managed to carry too much speed and ran wide, bouncing up on two wheels on the hill before coming down hard again and bouncing into the hedge.
I struggled to pull myself out without swerving right across the road, knowing that H and Clive were right behind me.
Eventually, once they had passed me I broke free and dived back into the battle hoping I could at least beat Clive as my own Tank should handle better than his  ;D

Before I managed to find out properly, Clive ran wide and I dived through and back into 2nd - I could still see Hristo but this had more to do with being on one of the longer straights at the time  :(

From there on it was a case of fighting my slightly strangly handling Lotus (I think either hedge or the landing from the hill damaged my rear left) around the green hell till the flag - a task that became much less stressfull after Clive was kind enough to remove himself from the running and I could consequently back off a bit and stop tempting fate.

Well done to H in his (69) McLaren :D, my Team mate Goran for his podium, and Bernie for being the only other other person to finish  ;D

Sorry Ronnie for crashing in front of you first lap  :(
After a bad qualy I had a great start, but didn't test the car on race fuel and bottomed badly.
Too bad, I'm always looking for a race at Ring.
Ciao

Thanks for the mod Goran. Great report Paul you flatter me. Great, great racing Phil and sorry again. Apologies to Dave as well as I did not realise my recovery nearly cost you. Some of the best racing for me since joining UKGPL and I never imagined it would be at the Ring of all places.
