Title: Seems a good price for a G27
Post by: Prof on July 21, 2011, 10:45:13 AM +0100
Hi Chaps,

Not a lot of time to race recently but hopefully this will change for the better soon.

I just noticed this at Dabs. It is the cheapest I can remember seeing for a while. I hope someone finds it useful.

Oooooh thats tempting  :o

Been tracking a few G27's on ebay as my old DFP is starting to fail and they all go for higher than this price so might be worth it.

Thanks Prof  :thumbup1:

Finally it reaches a reasonable price. :)

My G25 is still going strong after 3 or 4 years. Logitech defiantly made these things well.

That is much more reasonable...but no sequential shifter so its a no go for me.  My G25 shifter is about finished.  need to find a replacement.

On 'inside sim racing' a week or 2 ago they had a G27 sequential shifter mod that looked quite good.

$40 if I remember correctly.

It's not that laggy-band mod is it?!

That looks pretty good.  I'll think I'll wait until my shifter finally gives it up.  Just managed to get through a race where I didnt have gear problems so theres life in the old girl yet.

Well i bit the bullet and got one  8)

Came Monday but didn't have a chance to try it till last night and first impressions are very good :)

Coming from a DFP to this is a big step forward, feels soooo much smoother and i could catch slides much better ( it felt like it anyway ) and just felt more precise. I thought i'd struggle to get to the same level with the new wheel but only after 5-10 laps i was hitting new PB's in the Corvette at Road America so im well chuffed. I was only running FFB 3 in iracing with the DFP which felt ok for me but with the G27 i felt it needed more and 8 or 9 felt really good.

Buying this and the new content when its out means its bread and water for the month though  :P

Just bought it! Bit of an impulse purchase but my G25 gave up ffb last night in the F188 race so thats my justification.....

...even though it was a software fault i'm sure and worked when I reloaded  ::)

Mine arrived yesterday :) Pedals are very wonky on me G25, which isn't bad seeing how long I've had them, and this seems a better deal than buying pedals separately. Be a while before I use them mind.

According to Gazza, I can't wait to be much faster ;)

If you had a G25 before then i wouldnt think its much different, but for me coming from a DFP its a big improvement.  ;)

well i bought the G27 and it served me well for the Suzuka race and now it permanently is 10-20 degrees off centre. A quick browse on the web doesn't look encouraging... :( packing it up and returning it is such a pain in the backside....

...only positive is I still have ye ole faithful G25 sitting in the other room, not going to put it on eBay just yet.

Any ideas of is this a hardware fault?? :(

You shouldn't have to return it Andy, just get onto Logitech customer service. I had a fault with my G27 wheel after a few months and they simply sent another one out to me within a couple of days. They will ask you to try to resolve the issue, perhaps by reinstalling drivers etc, but it's just a formality for them to show that they've tried to solve the problem. Just say that you'll try it and then get back to them after a couple of hours. They're not bothered about having the old ones back.

Excellent thanks mate, so much logitech slanging on forums about it but I try and read between the lines.

That advice is far more constructive than 99% of what I have read  ;)

Everything I've read about the G27 is just puts me off buying one.  Plus the fact that I'll need to modify it so I can have sequential gears.   Just seems like a bad Joke.

Any alternative wheels out threre for a similar price?

Never one to follow trends i've now ordered a Fanatec GT3RS wheel and CSP pedals. No idea when it will appear.

Sadly i see my potential buyers of my G27 have diminished somewhat :(

What condition? I might be in the market for one in a while.
My pedals are playing up...the throttle keeps cutting out.

My CSP's arrived within a couple of days so you shouldn't have to wait long.  I'm still very glad I bought mine - lovely bits of kit.  You'll probably want to stiffen up the brake pedal by moving the brake's pushrod one hole down when you first get them.

Cheers, Ross.
