Matt and I have agreed to do away with the team aspect of this event. Also no pre-race registration will be necessary. Just turn up and have a great race.

I think it's a shame to do away with the team aspect. Why can't we do both ?

If people don't want to race as one ½ of a team, they don't have to, they can just turn up as individuals!

You will end up with an individual winner of each division and winner of the team competition , et voila !

Another question: 'Any Gr 3 car'   it say, so the 275 GTB/C Speciale is allowed right ?

Having had low take-up when we tried to run this event earlier in the year I decided to scrap the team element. Yes ANY Gr 3 car.

The uncertainty of the week between Christmas and New Year seem to play havoc with this event.

SBRC could field anywhere between four and one and I believe that Fulvio may be up for it too.  I put the word out within the MARA League so we may also get a car or two from there.

Anyone else doing it?

hmm, less than one page of posts....is anyone turning up for this? If so, what class do you think you will run in? Tempting to take a GT40 for first time here but more than happy to run a div2 GT if thats the majority.  :)

Managed to arrange my week around both le mans races and I'm hoping this evening will be free too... tempted by the GT40 as I was running it round here a lot with a friend offline recently

I'm not going to be able to get much practice in for this, I'm not that familiar with PnG anyway and I have no setups whatsoever, so can somebody tell me what's easiest to just jump in and drive from the available choice? Thanks.

Probably one of the Ferraris or Jags

If you want an easy drive then the GT40 isn't it.  I gave it a try the other day and found it awful.

The easiest car to drive is the Alpine 1300.  I think that it will only need one stop but it is a lot slower than the Jags etc.  I'm about 4 seconds a lap faster in the LW Jag.  The top 275 Ferrari is very quick but I find it too much of a handful for an hour and a half of racing.

Don't think that there is a pit lane speed limit btw.

Just ran some laps in a few cars.  :)

1:27.0 in the Mk1 GT40
1:29's E-Type Jag 4
1:28's E-Type 5spd
1:29's 250GT Fezza
1:29 vette Z06
1:28.0 Shelby Daytona Coupe

Only a handful of laps in each so would hope to improve on those times.

Quite liked driving the Gt40 even though the circuit feels a little small for all that power!

Have fun guys. I wish you all the best for the new year.

anyone taking the GT40? No point me using it if everyone else is in Gr.3, which i think i'd prefer to take anyway for closer racing.

Down to 1:26's in the lumbering beast, it steers like a barge.

I tried a few cars back in August and liked the GT40 best of all, so I'll join you if you or others take it MJ.

I struggle to like any of the Gr3 cars ::)

Loolks like I could make this.
Tried GT40 and is good lumbering fun best so far 1:26 with full fuel.
5 speed jag is understeery and 1:30 so far

I usually prefer the four speed Jag to the five and there is no way it can be called understeery compared to the GT40!

Think I have done a 27.7 with the four speeder.

I'm sure my game lists the Daytona as a Gp3 but the lap records at the top of this page have it listed as a Gp4.

EDIT
I make the list of allowable cars to be as follows:
Alpine Renault A110 1100
Alpine Renault A110 1300
Austin Healey 3000 MKI
Austin Healey 3000 MKII
Chevrolet Corvette C2 L72 Coupe
Chevrolet Corvette C2 L76 Roadster
Chevrolet Corvette C2 L88 Coupe (Not Penske)
Chevrolet Corvette C2 L88 Roadster
Chevrolet Corvette C2 Z06 (Not #5)
Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlineta
Ferrari 250 GT SWB Competizione
Ferrari 275 GTB/C
Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale
Jaguar E-Type Coupe
Jaguar E-Type Lightweight 4 speed
Jaguar E-Type Lightweight 5 speed
Jaguar E-Type Roadster
Lotus Elan 26R
Lotus Elite
Shelby Cobra 289 Coupe (Not Wilment)
Shelby Cobra 289 Roadster
Shelby Daytona Coupe
Shelby GT-350R CASC
Shelby GT-350R SCCA
Triumph TR4

There is no such category as a O2L Group 4 so that's an admin typo. The Daytona is Group 3.

I'll get that fixed.

still not sure i'll run the GT40, its just hard work over a race distance. I cant get any lower than mid 26's and yet i have seen an AI car do it in 1:22's !!  :o  I tried just about every spring combo and it makes no difference.

Think i would have more fun in a gr3 car, will run some more laps later and decide.

Not quite the Goodwood epic i was hoping for with measly 13 runners  :(

Qualied 6th? Ran well for a while in the race until i clouted a tyre wall and busted my suspension meaning i gradually lost places to Matt and Clive etc. Nursed it home to my pitstop whilst running 7th but the repairs made for a lengthy stop and i rejoined in about 9th or 10th and 1lap down on top 6  :(
Then set my quickest set of race laps trying to catch the two guys ahead, which i managed and then with 10mins (or so i thought) to go, i hit the same flipping tyre wall and damaged my suspension a second time.

Kept wondering why race was not ending when an hour was up and then got told it was 60 laps not 60mins ! (me bad, didnt read the post correctly). Unfortunately i am suffering a neck injury at the moment, making long events painful so i had to reluctantly park up whilst in clear 7th place and retire as couldnt manage another 20 laps in an understeery beast.  :'(

Well done to those that turned up, and congrats to the podium.  :)

Shame those cheaty Elans were allowed in the contest  ;)

Happy New year to all :sorcerer:

Bad luck chaps.

Wasn't sure if I'd make this or not, so decided to go for the easy ride in the Elan. Unfortunately PnG was having none of it and after numerous cheaty boots with the Elan and a couple of ctds I had to take a tank  ::)

Despite my lack of enthusiasm for these cars, the race was actually shaping up to be good fun. After an early visit to the scenery I fought back for some close racing with Clive and MJ. Unfortunately RL took over as I had to abandon the race to answer the door.

HNY and see you all in 2012  :)

That was looking fantastic until about lap 16 - then John's evil little Skateboard started gaining on me because my tyres were giving up for some strange reason  ???

He passed me on lap 19 just as things were getting really interesting in my car, just in time for me to then pit on the following lap - 30 Gallons and 2 tyres seemed to take an eternity!  :D
Rejoined just in time to be lapped (  ::) ) and soldiered on, climbing back upto about 3rd I think it was before my final stop on lap 40.
Same again, 30 Gals and the rear tyres - my fatal mistake - continued on and was positioned well with only John and the Ford Brothers in front.
Then disaster as my left front blew out while braking into the right hander before St Marys, I flew off into the wall and rejoined still just ahead of Mat. Naturally I took Lavant in the kitty litter as I could no longer turn right handing him 4th  :(

Wrestled the car back to the line which I crossed while making lots of smoke and sparks  :ninja:

Great race - I particularily enjoyed the early stages where I had a working car and was battling with Geoffers and Fulvio after not spotting the startlights in time  :-[

Oh, and not that it's over important but I had Firestones rather than the GoodYears the results claim  :)

Thx for organizing the race, it was a good effort for my back one hour and half with GT40  ;D
As said Geoffers, once you get used to it you enjoy the drive :)
I had a steady pace with only a couple of wide, one at the beginnig trying to keep in view with the storming Tim's Vette and toward the end trying to catch John that had 10 sec. lead gap.
I did a long first stint with full fuel till 38th lap and the tires were really worn and had some hairy moments.
Sorry Tim for the bad lapping at St.Mary, but I was desperately trying to keep it on track after a hot approch at Fordwater
Geoffers and me had GoodYear too.  ;)
Ciao and Happy New Year all!

Congratulations to our winners John and Fulvio.

My race was a bit of a let down, as all of the people that I would have battled with were struck down by various ailments.

So after the first stint I just had to motor around on my own.  I think that I should have changed my front tyres at the second stop instead of doing the complete race on the one set.  The rears were fine but the fronts were costing me about a second a lap towards the end, plus a couple of offs.  I could still do the first half of the lap in a reasonable time but from Lavant onwards I was slow.  It didn’t feel any different but the stopwatch doesn’t lie.

I made a good start by looking at the HUD rather than searching for the lights, which I have never seen at Goodwood in quite a number of races.  However, the heavy metal came thundering past on the straight as my first corner was hampered by taking a wide line to ensure that I didn’t knock John off.

After that I had to climb back past a SuperSwift in his Jag and MJ’s Daytona, which took quite a while and allowed Tudor to join the fray.

Thanks to Tony for organising the event and Happy New Year to all.

Hope to see you all at the first round of the 2012 Season.

Sorry to read there were various problems that spoilt last night's turn out and race, bad luck Tony and Mark with lost connections.  Managed to get under 1:30 in qualifying and the first couple of laps were OK when I was "racing" but went off and clouted a bank then on the next lap over did it and really hit those solid straw bales.  This ruined suspension and I limped to pits for repairs, which I had to repeat at second pit stop.

In between spent some time racing Special KS on track, initially 1 lap down and then 2 laps down after 2nd pit stop.  Got onto same lap when he pitted and much to my surprise saw his DNF whilst I was on my last race lap - if you could have limped over the line you'd have had my finishing place.

Happy New Year folks, see y'all on the track next year.

Quite surprised to finish ahead of the GT40s here! I didn't think I'd be in with much of a chance once it became clear that they would only be stopping once, but I guess they're thirsty beasts and my little roller skate of a car didn't drink much - the second stop splash & dash only took a few seconds and I made it out with enough of a gap to not be caught at the end of any straights by Fulvio. I didn't do myself any favours at the first stop though, I was planning on changing the fronts but actually changed the rears instead! Thought about doing a short middle stint and changing the fronts at the next stop, but when I saw how close Fulvio was I decided to tough it out, as even if I'd have been faster there would have been no way past - those monsters just disappeared on the way out of every corner!

Grats to Geoffers & Fulvio for the poduim :thumbup1:

Yeh, although the GT40 only needed one stop, it took ages, John went past twice while I was stopped. Admittedly I wasted 10s or so as I forgot you need to turn the engine off before the refuelling starts! Had good fun in the GT40 though, wasn't too bad to drive once you got used to it. Can't believe the real car had such restriction on setup adjustment, unadjustable front camber seems totally wrong & I think is why the car understeers so badly.

Congrats to John & Fulvio.
