Season 22 - Porsche Super Cup

Welcome to the Porsche Super Cup which will be based on the GT Mod but will use only the Porsche and with no handicapping of any kind. However, this will be a team based series, and the points awarded will be based on the results of the whole team rather than the individual drivers.

We want to encourage more drivers to join teams or create new teams and so this series will aim to do that as well as provide a series without handicapping.
Teams made up of drivers from different GPL teams will not be permitted with the exception of teams with less than three members. Members of such teams will have to agree to band together in new teams created for this event in a similar manner to the new GT division. This also applies to drivers who do not, currently, have a team membership. Large teams such as Clark-Hill or Hiki-Waza who have enough drivers to submit 2 teams will be permitted to do so.

All drivers have been grouped into 1 of 3 classes, either Pro, Amateur or Novice, and each group is given a points value:
1 = Novice
2 = Amateur
3 = Pro

The teams will be made up of 3 drivers from the same GPL team, and the total points tally for the 3 drivers in the team must not exceed 6, so a team could be made up of the following combinations:
1x Pro
1x Amateur
1x Novice
OR
3x Amateur
OR
2x Amateur
1x Novice
OR
1x Pro
2x Novice

If a team driver is not able to make a particular race then the team can use a different driver from within their GPL team but the total seeding of the group must still not exceed 6.
If a driver of a suitable seeding does not exist within the GPL team then a freelance driver may be used as long as the total seeding of the team does not exceed 6.
No exceptions to this rule are allowed, so plan your strategy well.

The races will be fully moderated for the red zone of the first lap and for reported incidents only after that, and will be run under Pro rules.

The races will be run as follows:

Time: no later then 9:00pm UK Time (30-60 mins practice, race starts at 9:30pm)

Yes, you will have to split the the 2 Pro's up Sergio, and fil the teams with other driver levels. Just post on the forum for drivers for your team. You have Fabio for a start who's GPFun as well. Put up a post and see who answers... ::)

I'm flattered but I'm not sure I deserve to be considered a Pro level driver. Looking at the Amateurs, several regularly kicked my butt last season. Not demanding a change but please can you confirm this seeeding before I try and seek employment.

I've struggled to make Fridays in Season 21, something always crops up to get in the way of GPL.  I doubt Season 22 will be different so I've registered for less than 75%.  Probably best if I volunteer as a reserve driver for the Antipasti teams.

Looking at the combination of drivers we (CH) have it may be impossible to field a team of three and stay within 6 points. Question - can we field two?
Basically we only have one Novice and not sure if he will be taking part. If we have to do three Ronnie may miss out even though he can do full time and I am planning on being a reserve as can only make some Fridays.
That is unless Ronnie is made an Am ;)

I too am flattered to be a pro, but like Arf (and possibly Ronnie), this leaves me without a team  :-\.  Erm...so if anyone wants a pro driver, I will be more than happy to join any team...any team at all! 

I hope to be a bit more consistent this year...but there are no guarantees!! 

If I can't find a team I may try the GT championship, the good thing is we have plenty of championships to choose from.

So, how many WAZAs are taking part this season??

We registered 2 teams last time, but usually the 2nd team was running  66% light  :-\. I may be PRO but I'm not good enough to score enough points to cover 2 missing drivers ::).  If a few of those searching for a team wish to sign up as "nonorary" Wazas for the Porsche Cup I'm sure that SHE will smile favourably upon you  ;D

Well, if there is space I would be honored to be a 'nonary' waza.  I suppose H's departure leaves a position to be filled...assuming there aren't any other PRO wazas.  I obviously can't fill those big shoes, but would try my best.

Could you pencil me in and let me know how the positions work out?

Want to drive this but Mini needs a drive and we can't seem to get two going at once... <sigh>

OK Bob, if we can rustle up a couple of Novice/Intermediates we can run 2 Teams I think.

It's a shame that you cannot hook up 2 computers within your household Paul, but I guess your long suffering partner ( and Jo's Mum!) might decide that was a step too far?  ::)

You have to convey the positive sides of simracing, Paul, so your wife would understand it develops personal qualities and it's not just a game for wasting time.

No chaps you misunderstand - wife is manageable but router isn't :( if Joe joins first I get 6 fps and if I join first he gets a timeout... We'll try again but does anyone know if there is a setting I need to use? If we can both race then there are two waza novices available :)

Perhaps the router is not distributing the connection equally between both PCs?

Yeh - not sure - frustrating though...

Possibly because I have a server as well and packets are being wrongly directed to the server?

They shouldn't be if you have a NAT router. NAT takes care of that and makes sure the right packets go to the right machine. Home routers are usually not very good though. It may improve if you put a switch (not a hub) in between the router and everything else but ideally try a better router.

Hmmm - Netgear DG384 - mandated by my firm sadly so I don't get a choice - it is OK but a bit old. I suspect what is happening is that I am losing packets somewhere - I am using a HomePlug 1.0 environment so it isn't the best but I'll keep trying... thanks for the input. 

Yes I think Miner2049er said the right, usually switches (not hubs) take care of the correct packet sending to the correct machine. Today's Home Routers have this stuff always incorporated but...I would not bet on their qualities.

I don't know if Antipasti team want also this year me as pilot. ;)

In theory, we are all responsible for grouping ourselves into teams although anyone without a permanant tem will be able to race as a reservist, filling in for any absent drivers..
Whilst we're talking teams ,I'm free this season if anyone feels like taking up my services :)

We will be trying to sort out some teams for drivers who are 'teamless'. Keep an eye on the threads.

I couldn't find your presence on any of the team lists in srou Pedro, so it seems you are a free agent. Just post on the thread here that you are available...or indeed, start your own team!

You can indeed compete under your existing team Stefano, If I understand you correctly? You just need to invite some more drivers to join your team, using the blue LM2/Team Management buttons above.

The forums is built like a maze so it is for the purpose of getting lost and then finding ones way again and then you can silently laugh at all the others that are lost in it  ;D

The team stuff is a bit more complicated. What I know is that I will not be driving the Porsche cup this season, I have too much going on and I like to see the wheels on the car I am driving, and I have not yet seen any other Black Night driver register either so maybe there will be no Black Night team this season or maybe the others are just slow to register. So feel free to find free drivers and form you own team. Nice line up. The team to beat?

Some of you seem to have had quite a bit of success forming your own teams...which makes me think perhaps I can do the same.

Clive, is there any movement with the Waza teams, I am still willing to be part of the 2nd Waza team, but it has been eerily quiet.  If you don't think anything will come of it I will ask others to see if they want to race in a team with me (hopefully there will be someone).

I'm waiting to see if Tom Van Ostade will be racing in Season 22 and if he wants to be in an Antipasti Team.  If I don't hear from Tom before the weekend, I'll have to assume he won't be driving.

If Tom isn't driving, me (Am) and Francesco (Nov) would be available and we could make a team with you as the PRO driver if you are interested.  I'd be happy to join your team if you want to create one or we could field an Antipasti Team.  Not worried either way.  Just want to drive  ;)

Don't give up Sven, there are bound to be people in need of a team as the season gets closer.

For anyone else reading this, Sven is the real deal when it comes to a PRO driver. If I was not graded Pro myself this season, I would be begging to join his team. Get in line fast before the rush. There you go Sven you will be in a team before you know it, I hope.

Pro + Ama + Nov = 6 that's the most valued combination, other combinations are valid untill their value is less or equal to 6 and they are composed of 3 pilots as well, so in your combination there is something wrong.

I'm pretty sure Tommie won't be driving so the PRO seat in the PastiPorsche Team is available.  Bob had provisionally booked the seat but if he would prefer to pick up the Hiki Waza 2 seat now the team is viable then that's fine with me but we'd need "Arf Arf Arf" to join PastiPorsche.  Don't mind either way, it really depends on Bob and "Arf Arf Arf".  Two PRO drivers and 2 PRO seats, your choice gents.

They are just for fun, but in PSC I think they can be helpful.
If all cars are just white, you don't recognize your teammates  so easy...

I use the skins just because they look nice... It doesnt really add any function to the mod but it makes it look more interesting.

Hi Mark, we are in the position currently where 23 drivers of all levels, that raced in S21, have not registered so far for S22. I have no spare teams, and now two orphaned Pro drivers looking for a home. I'll PM each of those drivers over the next day or two and ask them to clarify their intentions re Porsche Cup. I think Svenagent we need a look at your times in the Porsche to decide whether you are a pro or what. You have entered the Novices in the 65's which doesn't really tally with being a Pro.

Perhaps you could let us know some representative times in the Porsche at a few Papy tracks... offline times are fine.

PRO drivers that are alone can make a single-man team, like Dan Gurney or Jack Brabham ... or they can join in a team with only 2 drivers, respecting the rule of 6 points in total.

Pilots must be 3.
It may be too simple to have 2 Pro (3 + 3 = 6).
During the last season, Tom Guerout and Tristan Bot that were in the same team, have been forced to have 2 separate teams.
So the rule should be: 3 pilots in any combination that have a value less or equal to 6.

So actually the only valid combinations are:
Nov + Nov + Nov = 3
Nov + Nov + Ama = 4
Nov + Nov + Pro = 5
Nov + Ama + Ama = 5
Ama + Ama + Ama = 6
Nov + Ama + Pro = 6

A team composed by only 1 pilot is not a team, it is only an individual, at least in this simulation.  ;)

And sadly, you need to put a team together to compete and we simply have no spare drivers we can toss your way. Register anyway.....and we'll see what happens nearer the start date. It's the best I can offer at this point.    :-\

We are working on team assignments but if you have made a proposal it would be good to send a copy of the PM to Geoff and myself so that we can keep the lists up to date. Thanks.

There is no room for another team of 3 drivers: actually, there are 12 teams on 2 servers for a total of 36 drivers (18 on each server); remain room for only 2 drivers, each of wich have to go in different server.
If i and Mark75 leave this champ (and join to GT), you can accept Squadra Padova Corse with 2 drivers (they can run in both servers, separately).

Good spot Alex. Mark has ended up in the Clark-Hill team for the Porsches, Alex. You and Tom have one spot between you but as there are two new drivers - assuming they are not Pro we can get a team going with three of you. Looks like you stay in your team Alex. Doesn't stop you driving the GTs though.

What we may have to do is have 'unattached' drivers who drive for the tem members who do not turn up. There will always be one or two and if everyone turns up then we will have them as 'guest drivers'.

Well, most of us craft our own, I for one use the same setup at every track....just with gearbox altered and cambers to standardize tyre temps.

Slower at tracks with long straights, flat out sections etc. Holds it's own at anywhere with plenty of corners....is quite forgiving, but don't flat shift the engine....it will blow!

I think Squadra Corse is a bot 'pro' heavy but hey. We also have 39 drivers now which is too much for two servers but we will see who turns up on the night... I probably can't make many of these for technical reasons which means 2x19 but that would mean Hiki-Waza 2 splitting across servers which is not ideal...

Ahhh, sorry David.....ya got me there. No Idea. Perhaps try re-installing the mod, Something may have gone amiss in the original installation.....but then you'd expect the mod not to run at all! Failing that   ::)

Hi David!  Same thing happened to me, first time I tried to race here.  The password shows up, at the top of the race thread, on the day before the race.  You need to look carefully.  This means you have registered to race.  If that doesn't happen, you could show up in the chatroom, where most gather - #ukgpl before the race, and ask for advice. :)

Is this a special chatroom? Where is it-Don't know much about online racing.

It is indeed special Dave, it's ours!! The UKGPL chatroom is accessible via GEM+ and IGOR. Or IGOR directly from your desktop.
The chat channel  is #UKGPL, with no password.

To add to Geoff's comments - there's a chat button in IGOR, at the top.  If the default channel doesn't start after 30secs, click on that.  To make the #ukgpl channel, there's a channels button further down.  Once you've sorted it, you'll find some car Sim nuts, lying around inside, on race nights.  :laugh:

I did some practice laps at East london with some of you fast guys the other week, intending to try and race ,but didn't know the password, 'cos didn't know about 24hr rule.

Hi Pedro, that's bad luck indeed....You'll need to do the full team induction thing for Alex in LM2, or his points won't go to the Team. Send Alex an invitation and get the paperwork rolling, it will sort itself out when you complete it. We can sort out anything else that needs attention...Ok?

Teams in PSC already differ from wich are registered in UKGPL, because drivers are part of other teams in other champs (i.e.: GT).
Classification need to be ever adjusted manually after a race (i.e.: in Sepang, my points - as freelance - go to Team Shadows).
From next race, i can score (hopefully...) for team 7Team7 (which i cannot join in LM2 because i'm already part of the Team Godzilla).

I'm not 100% certain, Tim would know more about this. But I think you can join another team for a specific division only Alex......it won't interfere with you Team Godzilla points, as you do not have an entry in PSC. In the Team Management screen in LM2, you have a drop down box that normally is used only with the 'all series' option. you can select PSC Cup from those options, and you would be a member of 7Team7 ONLY for Porsche Cup.

It can be done in that you can join a team only for certain series but it gets a bit messy hence we quite often, for these team divisions, use 'admin' teams ie the modder selects a drivers team when importing the results.

Sorry - only just seen this. When I import I modify the teams manually. It is a major PIA.
