The first race in the new championship. :)

The race will be set to a lap count rather than timed but, I aim to choose a lap number that will be close to a 1 hour race. I will update the first post when I have figured out how many laps I think it should be.

Sorry that it has been so long getting the season under way (again) this one took a lot of my spare time. :sweatdrop:

It will be good to take part in some competitive championship racing again. :)

I'm actually more and more a fan of counting laps for the duration of the race, it makes math a bit easier. :)

I guess that I will jump this race  :(

Racing Week-end in Vallelunga for me and some VDA guys, so I won't probably be on time for the race... Otherwise I will surely join it with pleasure ;)

Cu :)

Yer, now seems like a good time. ;D

We can use the server manager to add weight if needed.

Just done a test run and 3 fuel stops will be needed in the Viper if the types will last that long. lol

You should need just one fuel stop in any/all the cars qs384.
It works out as about 190% of a tank of fuel being required by any car, if I remember correctly.

Not wanting to further the rumuors that the porsche is too fast i'm hoping to try out the F360 as i felt i got it working reasonably well at Montreal. I know i've tried to get used to it before but i'd like to be able to drive more than one or two cars in the class.

A quick look at this table (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=269&theme=4&scoring=523#ch523) (from the last GTC Season) would certainly suggest that the 997 Porka has an edge over the other cars.

I wouldn't wish to ask people to not take what might be their favourite car, but could we maybe add some cumulative ballast after each round?
1st = 15kg
2nd = 10kg
3rd = 5kg

So for example, if API finishes 2nd in the 1st race & wins the 3rd race (mirroring the S13GTC season), he'd be carrying 25kg ballast for race four. If he then wins race four he'd have 40kg for race five...
It's a six race season, so the max weight penalty would be a 75kg (i.e. 5x15=75kg) ballast in the last race.
It's not a massive amount of ballast, but might help keep the grids/races tighter (not to mention the Championship) therefore busier. The the busier the merrier! ;D

Smaller values could also be used obviously, but it generally takes about 5kg to beat all noticeable.
Just an idea :)

As much as i dont want to agree with Legzy(more out of principle than anything else :P) I think running with success ballast is a good idea and should at least help to equalise things a bit between the extremes of talent. I know this isnt touring cars but we do have quite a spread of talent here! and it should help people think more of a series long fight than a single race. However i',m sure i'll never be running with full ballast so it depends on whether the faster guys mind it. I know many other leagures do run with success ballast so we are hardly trailblazing here.

However as it is days away from the new season starting i could understand if H@L didnt want to consider it just yet.

Like the sound of ballast and I don't think the amounts mentoned will have that big an impact on the faster guys other than to spice things up a bit, which can't be bad  :-\

As for the Porsches, once again I'm slightly quicker here in the RS than the Cup car at around 2:05 (offline with race fuel). I do find however that the RS is significantly harder to drive and be consistent with. Haven't tried the other cars, but would expect to be slower anyway as I never drive them.

Don't get nobblin' me Porsche  :P

Great race wicked fun.

was consistent most of the race till i spun and hit the tyres got a puncture then had to make a unplanned pit stop on lap 21-22 ish then went from bad to worse hit a wall knackered suspension for 2 laps till the end.

Was awesome fun though.

All in all I think it was my best performance overall so far.

hopefully might be a bit more competitive towards the end of the season.

Really enjoyed that, had low expectations with the weather & not done any praccy... Shame I had 3 mini-offs as I was still getting used to it in the first 5/6 laps ::), as I think I could have finished a few places higher. I was really getting the hang of it the longer the race went on 8)

Special mention must go to TT & H@L... who I managed to over-take on back to back laps @T1, I got H@L on the inside & did TT round the outside :-* ;D

I'll be joining you again in two weeks. :)

p.s. The Porka's looked a bit fast ;)

Great track and great cars  8)

Wet races are usually bad news for me, but I managed to hold it all together for a change even though my eyes were killing me.....Sebring and rain is a real fps muncher. The RS was great but I started to have some very odd moments mid race which I suppose can be put down to a rushed carp wet setup. Went for a long first stint and didn't dare change tyres for fear of losing my 2nd place which made the last few laps very interesting  :o

Congrats to Manteos for a dominant win and hard luck to Spanner who looked like he was caught out while lapping another car.

It's not just an impression... this RS is a flying pork  :o :o

No training at all before the race, except for practice and qualif. session, so I decided to go for the RS when I saw H@l's forecast for the race... I considered it the obvious choice in this track with the wet. I was "wrong" even this time cause only me and Goldtop opted for this car.
I guess that is not a miracle or some kind of positive vibration after the SuperStars racing week end in Vallelunga that I've been so fast today ;D, and I was a bit surprised when I saw my laptimes compared to people which usually is faster than me. Just a couple of slight changes to the setup, and the RS was ready to rule on the wet... It was amazingly fast here  :o :o :o
Surely I know the lines of this track very well, and it's one of my favourites (especially in this VLM version), but in my opinion, this car is a bit too fast for the GTC, like the Viper in a circuit with a lot of straights and accelerations (with dry tarmac). Porkas tyre wear is simply ridiculous (even with wet soft), and I didn't need to change the tyres til the end keeping a good pace without pushing a lot during the race. I've done my first mistake at the last lap with the xd reporting a value of 25 rear tyre wear (less than 1 for lap), so luckily nsfast was able to try the last assault to H@l.

I would be glad if you agree to consider to limit its use in only one or 2 races during the champ, but mine is only a suggestion... In that case I just played the jolly for this champ ;)
However driving this car on this track was a real pleasure, even with no fights during the race, I enjoyed it so much :)
Great to see so many people for the first round chaps ;) Thx for racing :)

I will have to jump the first round of the prototypes next week, but I hope to see you for the 2nd round of the GTC. Bye :)

I too was a bit (late) surprised by the possibility of the rain and my setup was a bit forced as I didn't really have the time to do it. Had a fairly good dry setup and it would be a harmony of Sebring & Viper. :-* This way I had a problem turning in (understear) and exit (overstear)... ::) Was really careful and not had a spin, guess it was hard for everybody and I was mostly 6th untill pitting. Had a stint of 4 laps after pitting, lost more than 2 sec each lap. No apparent reason, just the car wouldn't obey... That's when the poxy Legzy came through and though I was catching slowly later it was not to be... :P Good driving, Legzy. :) All in all a nice event. 8)

P.S. Did we really do a multiclassed race? ???

If there is a particular team paint job that you like then you should see if the team is looking for new members by sending personal messages to people on the team and asking. If you want to make your own paint jobs then you could start your own team or become a privateer. Some teams allow drivers to vary their skins a bit.
