1  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1967 F2 (Professionals) - Snetterton - Apr 23 on: Yesterday at 10:16:46 AM
Great video Dimi, it must take you hours to edit them.

Thanks for highlighting Tom's fair racing when he gave the place back after our bump. Having looked at the replay I would have put this down as a racing incident if it had been moderated. I made a mistake at the esses which gave Tom the opportunity to close on the straight and so he had plenty of overlap at turn-in. I tried to give him plenty of room but his rear end stepped out otherwise there would have been no contact. Gaining a place in such circumstances is never rewarding so Tom probably made the right choice but IMO he wouldn't have been penalised if he hadn't. Thanks for the fair racing Tom.

After qualifying a modest I took a quick leak break before the race, which took longer than I wanted to. Result: I missed the initial start!
So off I went, starting through the pits with a 25 second deficit.
Well that makes your drive even more impressive! I must admit I've made the same mistake but I've never turned it into a win. I wondered how you appeared in my mirrors after a few laps, I hadn't noticed you on the grass, now I know.

Danny,i mistoke you for Phil Thorton, are you related?
Hi Fran, yes Dan is my son. He isn't a kid, he's 29, I've been trying to get him into GPL for 10 years and he's finally had a go. A decent showing for a first race, I'm pleased he didn't have any incidents and made a few clean overtakes.

That was an eventful race, lots of overtaking with Pete, Will, Tom and Fulvio. I had a bit of a bump with Tom with a couple of laps to go but he was kind enough to give me the place back. Thanks Tom  Smiley

5  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1967 F1 (Privateers) - Aintree - May 5 on: April 22, 2024, 11:25:16 PM +0100
Season 44 F1 1967 PRIVATEERS – Round 8 – Aintree
The eighth race in the 1967 F1 Privateers championship finds us at Aintree in England. Aintree is located in the outskirts of Liverpool in the north of England. It is where Stirling Moss, driving a Mercedes, won his first British Grand Prix in 1955.  After a race of 90 laps, Stirling finished in a time of 3h 7m 21.2s, just 0.2 seconds head of his illustrious Argentine teammate Juan Manuel Fangio. Mercedes dominated the race with a 1–2–3–4 finish with Karl Kling and Piero Taruffi driving the other two Mercedes cars. The first British driver / British car victory in a British Grand Prix was also at Aintree in 1957, when Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks shared a Vanwall.

Please note: Aintree has generous run-off areas so please respect the track limits. Please check the rules regarding corner cutting (see sub para 11 under the General section on the Racing Etiquette page) and the Penalty Guidelines for a bad rejoin.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO :
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

6  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1955 GP (Privateers) - Reims - Apr 28 on: April 22, 2024, 11:02:16 PM +0100
Season 44 - 1955GP (Privateers) - Round 7 – Reims
The seventh race in the 1955 Grand Prix series finds us at Reims in France.  The circuit is basically several long straights with a couple of hairpins and a few cornfields. Catching a tow is what this track is about. It normally produces close racing. Reims-Gueux was first established in 1926 on the public roads between the small French villages of Thillois and Gueux. The circuit had two very long straights between the towns, and teams strove to maximize straight-line speed of their cars; many slipstream battles ensued. Race organizers actually felled trees and demolished old houses in order to make the circuit even quicker. International racing came with the first official Formula One event occurring in 1950, the inaugural year of the Formula One world championship. The circuit layout was shortened and changed in 1952 to bypass the town. In the 1954 race, the long-awaited Mercedes W196 with its straight-8 fuel-injection engine made its debut with Juan Manuel Fangio transferring from Maserati to join an otherwise all-German line-up of Hans Herrmann, Karl Kling and pre-war driver Hermann Lang. It was a dominant return with Fangio recording a practice lap of 124.31 mph. He and Kling led away and continued to race side by side around the Reims track. The Ferrari drivers simply couldn't cope with the pace. There was no race at Reims in 1955 and when the Grand Prix circus returned in 1956, it was without the silver arrows. Fangio dominated again but this time in a resurgent Ferrari team who's drivers also claimed the remaining podium places.

I was on the right side of the grid which proved to be the safest place because I could stay tight and avoid the squeeze on the left side of the grid at turn 2. I found myself in third place but I couldn't stay with Pat and JonnyO, they gradually pulled away and so I concentrated on trying to stay ahead of Clive and Tris. I held them off for 5 or 6 laps but then I had a slow 360 at Namerow and they were through.

After that I tried to circulate without errors but about half way I made a mistake at Le Diable. I lost time and that allowed Syd to get onto my gearbox. The rest of the race was a game of cat and mouse with Syd hassling me all the way. I had to be on the top of my game to not make mistakes. I held on and crossed the line a few metres ahead of Syd. Great racing Syd.

It looks like Evil and Tris ran into some bad luck and what was a hard fought 5th turned into a lucky podium for me in the last couple of laps.

That race was a learning exercise Roll Eyes. The start was a bit hectic, I was following Tris on the warm-up lap when he seemed to clip Doni who spun. I stopped OK but it was the tightest part of the track and unfortunately the cars behind were unsighted and I got rear-ended. The car flew into the air and miraculously landed on its wheels so I continued in the hope that no damage had been done. I was lucky enough to recover my rightful starting place on the run down Conrod Straight. I picked up a couple of places when cars ahead went off but as soon as the tyres were up to temperature I started to lose the car under braking. I lost it at Murray's Corner 2 or 3 times and found myself down in about 8th place. I decided I was being too aggressive on the brakes so I started to drive like I was going to Sainsbury's to do the weekly shop. I stopped crashing and slowly reeled in the cars ahead. I had great battles with Tris and Doni and in the final stages I closed in on Fulvio but I didn't have enough time to attempt an overtake. I crossed the line on his gearbox. Grats to Evil on the win and to Yannick for a very close second!

Season 44 F1 1967 PRIVATEERS – Round 7 – Mont-Tremblant
The seventh race in the 1967 Privateers Grand Prix series finds us at Mont-Tremblant. It is a 4.218 km (2.621 mi) race circuit located approximately 130 km (81 mi) north of Montreal, Quebec, in the city of Mont-Tremblant, Canada. It is the second-oldest existing race track in Canada, and was originally known as Circuit Mont-Tremblant-St-Jovite until it was renamed in the 1970s. Set in the shadow of the Mont-Tremblant ski hill, the twisting fifteen-corner track uses the natural topography and elevation of the land.

I've had to reset my router. Could someone please see if you can connect to UKGPL07 today and let me know any issues. I'm not sure that I've put port forwarding back to where it was. Thanks.
I've put the port forwarding settings on this page if you need it Pete. I've created the page for reference just in case the usual GPL sites are down, but it also includes a link to the patched iGOR for multiple hosting (the site I originally got that from has gone  Sad).

Looking at Matt's it could be triple buffering (begins with T  Roll Eyes). Sorry but I'd need to go on my computer to check.

The name keeps changing but it is trilinear something. It is a toggle on/off so try it off and see if it helps.

If I remember correctly, I think you need Trilinear Filtering to be off.
