2192  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 35 break Fun Races on: August 19, 2019, 05:56:08 PM +0100
I'm having a major reorganisation in the break.

My trusty old G25 started to act up in the last couple of races so I've swapped it for a Thrustmaster T300.

My monitor bust too so I've replaced it with a cheap 4K tv.

I couldn't get the new wheel to work properly under Windows 7 so I "upgraded" to Windows 10. Thankfully Microsoft have stopped charging for Windows 10, you can install for free if you have a valid Windows 7 Product Key. Good job too, Mrs T was none too chuffed with the credit card bill as it is.

All that lot seems to have gone OK but unfortunately I couldn't test it in the 69x fun race yesterday, we had visitors.

Finally I'm changing ISP this week (on 28 Aug). I've binned my Sky box (that broke too) and I've changed to Virgin Media. Not sure if this will prove to be a good idea or not. I've been promised 200MB download speed compared to the 30 odd I get now. Hopefully (and more importantly) the jitter and latency will be improved.

Outcome of all this is that I will need to do some testing before the season recommences on 8th September.  I'm not available on Sunday but I'd like to host a fun race on 1st September. I'll probably go for a 67 race at Rouen (praccy for first race back).

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error. There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Billy,  I don't know if it is allowed to use refueling patch  Huh
Yes it is one of the allowable patches. See this rules page.

Managed a decent finish in my little Brabham but only thanks to other people's misfortune. The Baby Brab was a sitting duck on the back straight.

I had problems with my steering wheel going out of calibration. After lap 3 I had to drive with my steering wheel at 45 degrees Roll Eyes. I stopped at the hairpin a couple of times to move the wheel full lock in both directions to try to recalibrate it. It seemed to help a bit but not much.  A similar thing happened in the last SCx race. I think my trusty old G25 is packing up. Looks like I'll have to procure a new wheel in the summer break.

Grats to David on another outright win, you'll be in the Pros soon at this rate. Well done to Clive in his come-back season, P2 shows you've lost none of your speed on your sabbatical.
2196  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 35 1965 F1 - Registration on: August 01, 2019, 09:57:05 PM +0100
I thought Angex should be in the Pros?
14 drivers registered. 4 not scored points are all Pro drivers. 5 Pro drivers scored points. 5 Am drivers scored points. AnGex currently 3/5 in Ams Championship. Looks a fair split to me. Moving AnGex to Pros would make split more unbalanced.
2197  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 35 1965 F1 - Registration on: July 31, 2019, 05:52:04 PM +0100
All the championship tables should be OK now. If someone thinks I've got any Pros and Ams mixed up, please let me or your Divisional Moderator know.
2198  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 35 1965 F1 - Registration on: July 31, 2019, 12:37:40 PM +0100
Is this just a combined championship or is there a Pro and Ams, as they are not separated on the Championship page.

The race announcement says Pro and Am. It is the race results import that needs adjusting. I can do that tonight when I get home from work. It is a 5 min job.

Grats to Tim on what looked like a dominant win from my perspective. I had a decent race with David, Fran, Pepe and Dulima.

Don't forget there is a Summer break for the 67F1s now (much like the current F1 championship). We'll be back on the 8th September at Rouen. See you all there!

Season 35 – 1967 F1 – Round 3 – Virginia International Raceway

The third race in the 1967 F1 series finds us at Virginia in the USA. In 1955, a group of North Carolina car enthusiasts began their search for a possible racetrack location. They soon found the perfect site on the state line on land owned by the Foote Family and Virginia International Raceway (VIR) opened for business in August of 1957. The group leased the property as Sports Car Enterprises. VIR’s first official event was a SCCA race that attracted stars like Carroll Shelby, Carl Haas, Bob Holbert, Augie Pabst, Bob Grossman, Don Yenko, Dr Dick Thompson, Walt Hansgen and Bruce Jennings. Shelby, who would later go on to worldwide fame by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959 and creating the iconic Cobra sports cars in the early 1960s, won that first feature race at VIR in a Maserati 450S.The lconic Texan uttered a quote about the track that is remembered to this day, “one lap at VIR is like a hundred at Watkins Glen.”

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the championship specific rules on the championship standings page.

...............Race over before it began! Shame as I had a reasonably good qualifying time.
Unlucky Bill. We qualified a few hundredths apart so I was hoping for a decent race with you. Maybe next time  Grin

Corrected the race results to credit Tris with the first lap which GPL dropped because he started from the pit lane. However this will become a DQ because Works drivers are not allowed a shift-R.

Very enjoyable race for me. I qualified in 3rd place due to a clock smash. I think one of my laps was 4 seconds faster because of a bit of warp. I got a decent start so I didn't hold anyone up but I got clobbered by a flying Brabham in T1 and I ended up last (apart from Tris) so I ended up in my true qualifying place after all.  After that I had good battles with Fran, Ricardo and David culminating in a last lap side-by-side dice in the stadium section. Good clean racing, thanks Fran, Ricardo and David it was fun.

Sorry to see my new team mate Tim drop out (with engine trouble?) after setting a super pole time in the Honda!
