1  UKGPL / General / Re: GPL - Wheel and setup - I am so slow on: January 28, 2021, 08:01:11 AM +0000
I find that I am hitting the kerbs at apexes far too often

Shocked  I wish I could drive that badly   Wink

Another demonstration of poor race driving from me!  Undecided  sorry to Bernie and PaulV and I think at least one other if I nearly took you out.

Spent most of the first half of the race recovering from spins or off track.

Experiencing the same as years back when I drove regularly that the car feels very different in race than in practice. I have the same setup selected and same fuel amount so I guess it’s my lack of skill rather than anything else.

Just for anyone that didn’t see it (me first time) The lower password is for Ams even though it seems to show pro.  They both show pro   Smiley

Well, managed to ruin my own race again with an unforced error while completely on my own, and then made several poor decisions about when to shift/r and ended up delaying myself by at least double the amount of time I needed to.

I must say though, some very courteous driving out on track. Nice to see.

Thanks Axel. No I have it in it’s own folder on a dedicated game drive.  I don’t find it an issue as long as a start igor through Gem. It’s a little strange as I didn’t have to when I drove regularly a few years back. Not sure what’s changed. I need to check if it’s one particular server as I haven’t tested that yet.

This isn’t related to the this threads race, by the way. I don’t have Can-Am installed and haven’t tried joining this server. Was just posting with a potential quick fix.

I’ve struggled to connect to the servers unless I start GEM2 first and start Igor through the GEM2 button.  May be worth a try Mark.

Good to see Steve Bird racing again and I'm pleased to see Paul Villiers is back. Hope you are feeling better mate.

Cheers Phil.  I was hoping for a few laps with you when I appeared to catch a bunch of you I guess following the incident mentioned.  But assume something happened which lead to your disco.

Had another lap one faff after losing concentration avoiding a few incidents which put me well down.  Got going again and after some laps found myself with a recovering bunch after they’d had some shenanigans.  Had a good couple of laps with Dave C and Dave R.  Shame Dave R had his engine let go and then I think Dave C had a couple of offs which separated us all out again.

Getting back into the rhythm of things again and trying some new things with setups.  Hopefully get consistent enough for some good races.

Hi all

I've been messing around with my graphics settings and have tried the suggested High Resolution Nvidia Profile Inspector settings in the easy installation guide.

I don't really see any big difference and my screen certainly isn't as crisp as the screen shots posted here http://goodwd65.gplworld.de/gallery/gallery.html. Particularly the text on the dials and cockpit labels.  Mine are comparatively blurry.

I have a Ryzen 5 CPU and GTX1660 graphics cars so should be well capable of good results in GPL.  I can live with it, it's not bad, but seems it could be much better.

Does anyone have any further tips?

Thanks  Smiley
10  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 38 - Fun 65 - Monza67 - Dec 22 on: December 23, 2020, 08:50:00 AM +0000
Bit of a long lonely race.  A mistake on lap 1 saw me fall towards the back, had a couple of laps following Fulvio when I outbraked myself again when my chair moved back.  Hope I didn’t disturb your line Fulvio. Then mostly on my own the rest of the race with a couple more mistakes.  Very race rusty, added to by poor consistency.  Hoping to rejoin for several races again in the coming season.

Server was solid for me for the few laps I had any cars around.  Smiley

Thinking of getting back into a bit of racing. May well try and join this. Is it in AC or the new version?

It is an add-on for AC. We have used it for previous races

OK, thanks I'll hopefully get to a couple.

 Sad

Tried registering early today for the race, just realised I voted in works not privateers, but I guess would have been the same. I didn't get the password in time.

I'll have to try again next season maybe

I’m going to try and make the race tonight if there’s room.  I’ll try and avoid being a mobile chicane as I’m very rusty.

Had a fun race. I was off the pace and my only chance to be anywhere near competitive was to stay in the tow of another car.

Initially I was sat behind Billy until he went off at the infamous loop.  I then managed to tuck in behind Dave R for the rest of the race who drove the Honda extremely well soaking up any pressure I could place on him, including a couple of laps with a recovering Bastian.

Congratulations on the championship Dave.

Hopefully may be able to make some more races next season now life has settled down a bit again.
