1  UKGTL / UKGTL Announcements / Farewell from LigelC on: May 08, 2010, 09:42:02 AM +0100
Hello all, I hope this is the place to put this........My name is Brian Clemo.......

My father and best mate Lawrence Clemo, known to the online racing fraternity as LigelC , sadly passed away last night after fighting the big 'C' valiantly for many months.

He loved all the racing , banter etc he had with all of you . We spent many hours watching replays and dissecting the action. His wish was that I let you know how much he enjoyed the time spent with you on the cyberspace 'grey stuff'.

So please raise a glass to the finest man I ever knew...........

Thank you all for helping him enjoy his passion for motorsport.

" LigelC returning to the pits , that's this race over............"
2  UKPnG / UKPnG Announcements / Re: New Director of UKPnG required please on: March 27, 2010, 09:37:53 AM +0000

I'm of the opinion that people learn more (improved driving, setup skills, etc..) when driving 1 or 2 cars for an extended period of time. Because of this, I would suggest sticking with 1 set of cars (say the brute squad) the entire season. Track selection is key here because something like Lemans wouldn't give the slower tier cars a chance to finish well. Crystal Palace wouldn't give the bigger power brutes a chance.

I have always found in previous series that driving different cars each week was the main attraction.  The possibility of driving the same one or two cars for a whole season fills me with horror.  scared yawn  I don't argue with your belief that it aids drivers development but I join in races for fun - I have no aspirations of ever winning a race.  My main aim is not to be the last car on the road at the flag by keeping ahead of my fellow "backmarkers".

Well thats my twopence worth.

3  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 9 Stock Car Challenge - RIVERSIDE (Nascar) - Mar 30 NIGHT RACE on: March 26, 2010, 05:32:01 PM +0000
Tony,  I have tried a couple of offline races against the AI's starting at 2200hrs.  In first race I just nudged the back of another car and lost my lights - impossible to race without them.

In the second race I was hit by a car returning to the track with same result - lost my lights.  Don't know if the Boss is more vulnerable than other cars but it doesn't bode well.

Maybe you can check it out.

I enjoyed last nights race even though I spent most of my time on my own at the back as the last one on the road.  Disappointed to see so many drop out (particularly those who usually keep me company at the rear of the grid)

Congratulations to Mike, Ian and PR and thanks to everyone else who turned out for the race.

Senior Dan terribly sorry had a right "Senior Moment" there.  Hit with a wet fish I hate these 2 min to go starts,  hammer I get bored sitting watching how many cars we're waiting for, going up and down.  yawn  Forgot to select 1st gear and then when the lights turned to green, I had all revs/no go selected reverse. oops
Bill

You sure confused me at the start with this move Bill - I thought for a moment that I must have jumped the lights

Haven't felt the need to practice here much, I mean how hard can a few gentle curves be eh Huh
Jumped on the server late last night and could hardly get a clean lap in let alone a quick time. Expect to see me at the back of the grid with the ugly girls Grin

Reading the various posts for PnG I get the impression that there is a way to select any make of tyre for any car.  When I enter the garage the tyre choice is limited to just one make (Dunlap or Goodyear etc).

Am I miss reading what is being said or can any tyre be selected - if yes what do I have to do to enable it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Legzey,
although your race data states the circuit is the 0.9 version the actual download link is to a 1.1 version.  Will this cause a problem?

Laurie

Update at 11:30
Probably nothing to do with my earlier comment re version numbers, but having downloaded the 1.1 version and installed it, it does not show in the game circuit list so unable to select it.  It does however show in the Locations files

Another totally enjoyable race for me as I battled with Bill and Sandor - thanks guys for making it such a good night.  clap clap

Not really one of my favourite circuits but have to agree it does produce great races. (A little disappointed that PR didn't put on his aerial acrobatics as he did last season in GTL  w00t whistling)

Congratulations to the podium and thanks to everyone who turned up.

Actually it was 'back of the field fun', eh Bill and Laurie? Great stuff.

Last night was one of the best races I have taken part in and showed you don't have to be at the front to enjoy your racing.  I chased Bill for lap after lap and we eventually caught up with Phil when it turned into a 3 way battle.  My thanks to Bill and Phil for making it so enjoyable. clap clap

Congratulations to Legzy on his first GTL win   thumbup2  and to the rest of the podium

A real shame such a low turnout  hammer - I had nobody to race with, everyone being faster than me.  yes Still it was good fun trying to control that beast for 45 laps - yes lapped 5 times.  Roll Eyes Congrats to podium and Tony for the lovely track/cars combination.  thumbup1 Didn't get anywhere near my PB last night but at least my fastest race lap was faster than my best qualifying lap.  Grin
Tony for the future any day will do me providing the timing is similar to last night.
Bill

I would like to be there racing with you Bill but these races are to long for me.  50 minutes is unfortunately my limit.

I enjoyed last nights race, particularly during the first few laps when Bill and I battled away.  Hope I wasn't anything to do with your retirement Bill.

Grats to the podium and thanks to the "overtakers" for being considerate to us 'slower' types.

Manteos,  your best bet is to see if any of your friends has a Thrustmaster steering wheel as they produce some where you can switch to paddles instead of pedals.   I have an old Thrustmaster Modena 360 and have never used pedals because after a few laps I get cramp.  Unfortunately they no longer make the Modena 360 I have and the one I use now was bought at a car boot sale.

I think it's a great track for the Alpina .... doing a 1.53.00 now. A pitstop with no change of tyres, just refueling for 6 laps will cost the mustang 30 seconds and another 15 to enteri and leave the pit ( at 80km/hour ) I wonder if the Mustang will be able to be gain almost 3 sec/lap on the Alpina?

Sounds like this could be a great Team event - especially if there is a spread of ability in each Team (maybe based on last seasons Token ability ratings).

Because of the need for a pit stop I prefer to drive the Mustang as it will give me a chance to take on some oxygen.  So if you decide to allocate people to Teams, Legzy, please keep this in mind.  Although I thoroughly enjoyed last nights race, 45 minutes non stop pushed me to the limit.
