I thought the spectators looked a bit chubby!

I've only recently started using GPL again, now with triple 23" widescreens.  It maybe does look a little stretched, but soon got used to it and feel more immersed with the wide display.  There is some shimmering of parts of the screen at times, but not sure if that is connected with the stretching.

Thanks chaps, will follow your advice and hopefully get there soon

Ok, coughed up a bit here  (will have to claw it back from her Valentines present!  Wink )

Not been to UKGPL for a while, as I got totally disillusioned after the last GT series from stuttery screen and my increasingly crap driving, so decided to scrap all sim racing until I made an overdue (8 year) hardware upgrade, and came back with a fresh outlook.  Haven't tried installing GPL yet but will soon.  So far iracing with eyefinity has provided some amazing entertainment but haven't forsaken this great community that I have contributed so little towards, and anyway looking forward to seeing GPL running on a blistering setup  Smiley   Time and IT technical skills I lack, so I really appreciate what many of you guys have done to provide some great racing over the last many years.

Hope to see you all for the next season or some fun races soon, once I've sorted any glitches that the W7 64 bit install might dish up..

Best for now

You'rrre a harsh laddie, Dave Randell

Harsh?!?!  Shocked  I took the Mk2, so you could have the Ferrari, which you found so comfortable you took to sleeping in instead of racing for your new Team!!

Have a word with our leader as I believe Tim has some very good setups for alarm clocks  Wink

Yeh OK - Can we stop mentioning my start.... laugh

No problem, in retrospect your start was one of the highlights of my race!  Wink

Ok, can we all please stop mentioning it..  Badblood doesn't want to keep being reminded of his silly mistake where he went charging to the front bouncing off other cars going bewilderingly slowly, before eventually realising that his wasn't simply a staggeringly good start and had to crawl back to where he came from!  hehe  Grin

Feeling very despondent after another awful performance.  Took the Ford Mk2 which tends to feel like it has a multiple cracked chassis and reminds me of a kart I once drove with exactly that, which would flex and buck and make you look like a right charlie as you'd randomly veer off the circuit!

I deluded myself that I had it tamed in off-line practice though when prib showed I had potential for 1:36's and the bucking seemed to abate after I tried some radically soft settings.  Only just managed to get into 1:38's for qually though with the car back to feeling as awful as ever.

At the start of the formation lap I was rammed by someone, Al maybe?  who went on to cause some more confusion up the road before he obviously remembered it was a rolling start and sheepishly dropped back!  Smiley Started quite soon to drop off the top 9 but made some distance behind me but then l I went wide at the start of the straight to let my team mate Tim through after an off, only to hit the angled bales!  It then did not get better for some time until the last few laps when I realised that Al had taken advantage of my incompetence and closed right up.  Being in a bad mood I was even more determined that I would not lose another place and we had some great racing for a few laps until his slight mistake gave me enough breathing space to finish ahead.

Apart from those last few laps I have to say that it was one of the least enjoyable races I've been in.  So far off the pace, the car felt so unpredictable, PC became very stuttery and to be honest the only thing that made me continue was the team aspect.  Not sure I'll do another season in GT's unless I discover some revelation that enables me to drive them to something resembling competence!

Congratulations to H and podium and of course to Tim for a good recovery for 4th.

As Nigel is unable to continue due to domestic computing difficulties, the Orange Team may recruit a driver of similar standing to complete their team.
The new member will have to continue as if he were Nigel and choose his cars accordingly to comply with the "drive each chassis at least 3 times" rule.

How very decent of you, and may I say what a worthy winner you were in that last race!  Smiley

Well that was an embarrassing performance from me.  Hadn't had much time for practice and have just got a new G27 wheel, so using FF for first time ever a couple of days before race.  Having said that I don't actually feel either is a legitimate excuse to drive like that, the only saving grace being I kept out of harms way!  Started off steadily enough and was holding 11th position comfortably until the unstressed engine blew.  After resetting and pitting it went from bad to worse as I seemed to forget how to drive!  Had some ridiculous offs, and started being lapped after one of these so stayed off track as the first wave came through.  Managed to pull myself together a bit towards the end, and lap in the 24's to knock one and half seconds off qually time and eventually take a position back off of Badblood, which provided one positive to take away.

Well done to Clive and podium, looks like the Reds are walking away with it now!

Bad news that Orange have possibly lost a driver unless Nigel can bring his pc back to life.  Good luck with that Nige, we need you!  Sad
9  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: Season 21 GT Team Championship Round 1 St Jovite 1st May 2011 on: May 02, 2011, 04:49:22 PM +0100
Towards the end Dave catches me and I take a tight line to let him past but maybe not tight enough. He spins and collects me.

Yes, that was the low point of the race for me, as the result of it was to hand Hristo a gift of another place and the loss of Orange points to Team Red  Sad  After the straight I went for the inside of the right and then looked left on the approach to the tight left hander to still see Paul still there, so I stayed very wide at the next corner but put a wheel on the grass.    Anyway, on checking the replay you gave me plenty of room by the corner entry Paul and I could have taken the usual line safely, so I apologise for the incident.  The left mirror on that 2D leaves a lot to be desired!

Other than that, wasn't too bad, although had a couple of unforced errors.  These cars are a handful aren't they?  Interesting to hear your comments on the braking bug.  I was having problems with this in practise where the car would want to plough straight on even as I was coming off the brakes.  In the end I put even more bias to the rear which seemed to help and was down to 52% in the end.

Had some good laps battling with Juha early on, and then caught him again a bit later and passed him after he had a moment, although he overall had the measure of me and eventually pulled away, especially when I had a few erratic laps which were down to my faltering concentration I think.

Overall good fun and looks promising for a close battle over the season..

Decision made [coin toss in other words] and the 3rd for the Orange team will, subject to his agreement, be.... Mr. Dave Randall. Stand up and take a bow Dave.
I noticed from an earlier post his willingness to die, sorry, race for GT glory, so it seems fair to give him the chance.
                Just awaiting your confirmation Dave.

Thanks for having me Nigel, will do my best to vindicate your selection!

Looking forward to this very much, going to have to miss 2nd race unfortunately, but hopefully that will be the only one.   Any team orders?  I can hear it now- 'Tim is faster than you, repeat, Tim is faster than you..'  Don't worry Nigel, I will put the interests of the team first  Smiley

Just registered, apologies it's a bit late but couldn't decide which series to enter.  Would like to do Historic too, but just don't think I'll find time for two championships, so will give this one a go for a change as it looks a bit different.

Dave passed me into turn one vary early in the race ,but I braked early because tim was going sideways in front. didn t think anyone would pass me then..wasn t that a bit ungentlemanlike dave? Wink

It was a bit wasn't it, felt guilty for a while but soon got over it!  Grin   After all, I had to take evasive action and it might have been risky to anyone behind if I lifted!  Wink

You mean Dave that you had a screen freeze after you had retired the race? When you were watching, from what position were you watching? Someone`s cockpit or? Was if from the cockpit of one of the drivers that had screen freezes or?

I am quite puzzled about the screen freeze fenomen that is why I ask.

Göran

Yes Goran, I did have a freeze while spectating.  I was in Hristo's cockpit I think when it happened to watch him try to close on his team mate, although I did sometimes jump in with Clive to see what lap times he was putting in compared with H.  But I'm fairly sure I was riding with H when it froze.
14  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 20 (2010-2011) Historic Trophy (66) - Efexx - Mar 22 on: March 23, 2011, 02:20:01 PM +0000
Up until lap 14 that was a terrific race, had a good battle with KingHiro, Al and Fulvio and it was one of the closest races I've been involved in, fantastic!!

Then, whilst running quite comfortably in 3rd, I checked the pit board and used the wrong marker for the turn in, clipped the pit wall and was sent three-wheeling at full pelt across the track.  Thankfully my fear of bouncing off the bales into someone's path did not materialise and I was at least relieved to do it solo this time, but hugely disappointed with my lapse all the same.

After this incident I watched some of the race and Hristo's valiant attempt to come back at Clive after his excursion, which was thwarted by him putting another wheel on the grass and opening the gap back up to something looking insurmountable.  Then, my machine also froze with an ascending engine note, from which I had to do a 'hard' reboot twice before it recovered!

Thanks to everyone involved for organising and providing such great competition this season, congrats to the podium for this race and to H once again for the Championship.

OMG (if I had one), what have I started?!  Although, I get the impression there have been a few such incidents this season.  Just want to say that as the culprit on this occasion, I would and will take any penalty as completely deserved, but even if there wasn't one, I think the embarrassment of being the idiot to cause such havoc is incentive enough to try damnest not to make such a risky move again.

I agree that any points 'earned' from just starting should be erased and to start at the back of the next race would also be a justified penalty, I'm thinking of doing that anyway as I'm not sure I want to even take the chance of being involved in another lap 1 incident for a while, just so you know in case I give up that pole at Efexx!     Undecided
