1  Everything Else / Chit Chat / Re: Seems a good price for a G27 on: August 12, 2011, 02:36:18 PM +0100
Never one to follow trends i've now ordered a Fanatec GT3RS wheel and CSP pedals. No idea when it will appear.

Sadly i see my potential buyers of my G27 have diminished somewhat Sad

My CSP's arrived within a couple of days so you shouldn't have to wait long.  I'm still very glad I bought mine - lovely bits of kit.  You'll probably want to stiffen up the brake pedal by moving the brake's pushrod one hole down when you first get them.

Cheers, Ross.

Windows Live Mail works fine on Windows 7 and does everything you need really.  Thunderbird is a very good alternative if you like having access to every option under the sun.

Cheers, Ross.

lol Peter.

NTM in the Skip definitely requires a smoother driving style now, much more sensitive to over driving.  Seems to be much more about tidy driving, going into corners much slower than you'd initially think while trying to avoid too much sliding.  Same for braking and throttle, it now seems to be very much about keeping the levels of slip down and looking after the tyres.

Should make racing very interesting as I think there'll more opportunities for cock-ups unless you're bang in the zone.

Still can be fun mind you, but it's just not that quick any more and as the tyres slip/grip/slip, big tank slappers are very much on the cards.

Suzuka's fun.

I'd probably be up for a bit of a SROU NTM series if you get this organised.

Cheers, Ross.

7  Everything Else / Chit Chat / Playseat for sale (also Logitech wheel and Joystick) on: May 15, 2011, 02:32:55 PM +0100
Hi guys (also posted on iRacing's forum),

As I've built myself a new bigger rig, I've got a spare Playseat Evolution up for sale, here's a photo I just took:-

Mine includes the adjustable seat runners.  All in excellent used condition - just rubs and marks on the metal powder coating where it's all been fitted together.

I'm selling this for £220.

I'm also selling a Logitech Momo wheel and pedals (the red one, ie. the first of Logitech's proper wheels) in excellent condition with all it's original packaging etc, pic here:-

I'm selling this for £60.

Buy the pair and I'd accept £260 and I'll also throw in a Logitech Wingman Force joystick which I no longer use.

Collection only on these as they're too heavy to pack and post. I'm in Knutsford, 5 mins from J19 of the M6 or they can be collected from me at work in Manchester (M14 7HR) during the day.

PM me if you're interested otherwise ebay next weekend!

Cheers, Ross.
8  SimRacing In General / iRacing / iRacing attracting interest from McLaren on: May 05, 2011, 04:36:21 PM +0100
Very interesting stuff!

http://www.iracing.com/inracingnews/iracing-news/iracing-mclaren-electronic-systems-partner-in-online-racing-data-analysis/

I wonder if we'll get a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 car in iRacing....?  That would save me a lot of money! lol

10  UKiR / UKiR / Re: Nice offer to returning members on: April 21, 2011, 12:08:33 PM +0100
I've always wondered what the Silver Crown is like, as it sounds insane with 800+ bhp and only 700Kg odd.  Let us know Dave!

Cheers, Ross.

Just a quick heads-up about another offer they have that might be useful if you've just rejoined and are after a couple of extra cars/tracks:-

"The shelves at iRacing’s warehouse are once again overflowing so we decided to offer a Spring Cleaning Special for members only.   Buy two or more pieces of content and get $8 of iRacing credit!  This deal only runs through the weekend, or until inventory runs out, so act fast.

Offer applies to new content (cars & tracks) purchased between 00:01 GMT on 4.21.11 (20:01 EDT on 4.20.10)  through 23:59 GMT on 4.24.11 (19:59 EDT on 4.24.11).  Credits will be issued on Wednesday April 27th. Members may only redeem offer once, for a maximum of $8 iRacing credits per account. This offer is in addition to any volume discounts you may be eligible for.

Members who qualify for the bonus $8 iRacing credits will automatically receive them via email on Wednesday April 27th."
12  Everything Else / Chit Chat / Re: Recommendations for an excellent FPS needed on: April 18, 2011, 09:11:42 AM +0100
Crysis 2 looks phenomenal maxed out, and it's getting a much better framerate than Crysis 1/Warhead even with configs.

Ross, if you have an ATI card with EYEFiniti, you should be able to run multiple monitors without stretching - otherwise it would be down to each game and it's settings, but most should be good.

I am using an ATI card but I perhaps wasn't clear - it's not stretching I'm referring to, it's the warping that you get as a result of the wider FOV that only goes away if the game you're playing knows to render the side screens from the correct perspective like iRacing does.  It's probably not that big an issue really I suspect, but it's what makes iRacing so good to run with triple screens.

Cheers, Ross.
13  Everything Else / Chit Chat / Re: Replacement pedals on: April 18, 2011, 09:08:06 AM +0100
Fanatic CSPs Tony. They're mint.

Do they grip on carpet or do they have to be physicaly fixed to something? And do they work with GTL?

If I were you I'd plan on inclining them by approx. 30 degrees, but bolting them to a piece of MDF (370mmx370mm) with an appropriate 'lift' at the rear of the MDF should do you fine.  Because of the extra pressure you'll be putting through the brake pedal you'll want to make sure they can't slide forward though.

They are really excellent pedals, mine arrived about 3 days after ordering and the build quality is fantastic - pretty much all machined Alumninium.  The electronic fittings are the only part that perhaps look a bit fragile, but that's really only because the sensors are more exposed than you'd expect.  After using these with a load cell, I couldn't go back to a spring/pot combo at all.

Cheers, Ross.
14  UKiR / UKiR Races / Re: Race of Champions Round 4 - Zandvoort (GP) - Apr 17 on: April 17, 2011, 08:21:55 PM +0100
Had friends round so missed my practice time for this other than a few laps.  Seemed like pretty good fun to drive though - still getting to grips with using an H shifter and clutch at the moment anyhow.

Hope it was a good race!

Cheers, Ross.
