Go to the main website (click the UKGTR logo at the top of this page) and click the "Replays (1)" link.
10023  SRou / Announcements / Incidents from May 24th Spa fun and Rule Reminders on: May 25, 2005, 11:03:27 AM +0100
It's clear from last night's race that some drivers are still not following some of the basic rules. May I remind drivers to read the rules page on the website.

Specifically, I had multiple reports of violations of the following:

  • When racing at night, or during the dawn and dusk periods, or in the rain, drivers shall turn on their headlights.
  • Drivers shall at all times and in all sessions obey the pit lane speed limit. Collisions in the pit lane are totally avoidable and unnecessary, and if they happen in a league race I will come down on the culprits like the proverbial tonne of bricks.
  • Drivers must stay within the white lines delimiting the pit entry and exit lanes. In particular, a driver shall not rejoin the main part of the circuit until they have passed the end of the "blend line", nor shall they take shortcuts across runoff areas. Some drivers were driving straight onto the track at the bottom of Eau Rouge, which is very dangerous and really quite stupid. Shocked Angry

I'm also aware that there was some unnecessarily forceful driving going on, and I will be reviewing the race and having a word in private or public, where I feel it's needed. Drivers who were involved in incidents should in this intance report them to me via this board's Private Message ("PM") facility, including the replay time of the incident and a brief description of what happened from your point of view.

Thanks.
10024  SRou / Other Sims Races / Re: Stop go Penalty on: May 25, 2005, 09:59:43 AM +0100
I'm sure we'll all get there but, to me, it certainly felt like some of the people there hadn't taken the trouble to read Dave's post race reports and take on board the advice there for fair driving, not knowing the GTR server is a place of sanctuary from all the madness out there  Tongue

Some of it was due to bad warping when we had lots of players, but I did see some flagrant disobeying of the rules like not adhering to the pit lan speed limiter and there were some VERY agressive GT drives which need to be curtailed.

Sounds like I need to review the Spa race.

PM incident reports to me please.
10025  SimRacing In General / GTR / Controller problem on: May 25, 2005, 07:35:40 AM +0100
I had (seems like have) a problem with my controller. I qual2 it started shifting on its own usually down and usually in a tight turn.

I've had problems with double downshifts, ie. I press the paddle once and it downshifts twice. I've now got round it by assigning keys to the paddles (U for up and D for down!) in the Logitech Profiler, not just as single keypresses but as commands (key down, 0.1s pause, key up), which seems to have cured it.
10026  SRou / Other Sims Races / Re: Spa Fun Race - High capacity server on: May 25, 2005, 07:33:08 AM +0100
It looks as if these are going to be twenty car races Sad

So what was the limit before things went pear shaped? 20 or 24?
10027  SRou / Announcements / Re: Season 1 format announcement on: May 24, 2005, 08:52:49 PM +0100
... I'll revisit the classes in a couple of days to make sure I'm happy with where the cars are placed.

Assuming that someone takes the Mosler tonight, I'm going to take the Vertigo and at least one driver is taking the Seat, so assuming that we get some "normal" N-GT cars too that should make for a useful comparison.
10028  Everything Else / Real World Racing / Re: JapFest at Castle Combe on: May 24, 2005, 07:58:41 AM +0100
And one final video. I'm right at the end (before to tap dancing Cheesy ) trying to get yet another dog slow 300ZX who couldn't tell his racing line from his elbow out the way.
10029  Everything Else / Real World Racing / Re: JapFest at Castle Combe on: May 23, 2005, 09:51:04 PM +0100
Here's another video, this time under 10MB, mostly 300ZXs but some 240s, and all three 350Z coupés (including me at 1:16 - watch how fast I steam into the final turn compared to the lardy arsed 300s! Shocked Grin and again at 1:51).
10030  Everything Else / Chit Chat / Re: posting pm's on: May 23, 2005, 03:55:25 PM +0100
Ah ha!

The "UKGTR Moderators" membergroup had its max number of PMs set to 1 for some reason. Very odd.  Huh They're all set to unlimited again now.
10031  Everything Else / Real World Racing / Re: JapFest at Castle Combe on: May 22, 2005, 08:39:27 PM +0100
If you don't mind a 50MB download, have a look at this video from the Mitsu Colt club. You can catch a glimpse of me hunting down a couple of 240Zs at 3:37 into the video. Smiley Also a good clip of the 200SX drift car which was on track with us (I had to keep reminding myself to watch the road ahead instead of watching him in my mirrors!  Grin ).
10032  SRou / Announcements / Season 1 registration is NOT open yet! on: May 22, 2005, 08:02:04 PM +0100
So please stop posting that you wish to register. Roll Eyes Cheesy

I will open a registration thread soon, probably next weekend.

Thanks! Grin

Any pictures on the web somewhere for us to look at?

Not yet. Somebody shot some video of me so I'll try and get hold of that. Most people were cowering in the bridge during my second session as it was full on tropical downpour stuff.
10034  Everything Else / Real World Racing / Re: JapFest at Castle Combe on: May 22, 2005, 04:23:43 PM +0100
Nice to meet you after all these years Dave, but boy did you pick your second session  Shocked The track was so wet I've seen them not allow the professionals out at race meetings. Hope you enjoyed it all the same. Sadly I didn't get to Quarry and camera for the first session and the 2nd was just too wet to get it out.

Good to meet you too after all this time. Grin

I just couldn't believe it as we sat in the pit exit road waiting to go for the second club session and the heavens opened! Shocked It wasn't too bad for me - and finally I have convinced the other owners that their Bridegstone RE040s are lethally poor in the wet! They were aquaplaning all over the place - I got thrown into brief four wheel drifts a few times after hitting standing water. Worst thing was the spray (and the misting up - but the air con came back on to sort that out!) - the first half of the session was really dangerous, I saw four cars go up the escape road at the first chicane all at the same time.

Best bit was putting one over on all the 300ZX TT owners who had been telling me all morning how they were going to leave me for dead - the 350Zs left the pitlane last and I think I overtook pretty much all of them. Too big, too much power. Cheesy

Had a major pants changing moment in the final bend when I missed my blip changing down into third and locked the rear end up  Shocked Embarrassed - thank goodness I left the ESP switched on! Roll Eyes Wink

I guess they haven't heard of late apexing - the turn in markers on the chicanes were all much too early. As much as I detest those chicanes they were great for experimenting with trail braking! Grin

Will have to come back sometime in the summer for half a day and do it in the dry.

Yep, I got that one, I think Paul is just too popular for his own good. Wink
