31  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: UKGPL Domain Name on: June 23, 2020, 06:31:12 PM +0100
My direct PayPal is: https://paypal.me/gizmo71
Please may sure you add a note so that I know it's for UKGPL.com rather than the SRou game server.

Thanks in advance and thank you to those who've already contributed. Afro
32  SimRacing In General / rFactor / Re: Virtual Le Mans 24 hours on: June 14, 2020, 10:14:33 AM +0100
Eurosport are showing the virtual WTCR after LeMans, don't know what platform they will use.

WCTR is Race Race Experience, I believe.

It seems like the rFactor 2 server isn't 100% stable.

Hmm, I can't find any Paypal button or link. Is that because it's the green again?

The link disappears from the banner when we're in the green, but can still be found in the first post of this topic. Wink
34  SRou / Announcements / Re: SMF 2.1 forum upgrade on: April 10, 2020, 03:18:39 PM +0100
After fighting it for five hours, I've had to abandon the upgrade for now and roll back to SMF 1.

Details later when I've had a good scream.
35  SRou / Announcements / Re: SMF 2.1 forum upgrade on: April 09, 2020, 10:36:40 AM +0100
Just a reminder that this is happening tomorrow (Good Friday) morning. Hopefully everything will be back up and running by midday UK time.
36  SRou / Announcements / SMF 2.1 forum upgrade on: April 07, 2020, 07:00:17 PM +0100
I plan to attempt to upgrade our (now very out of date) copy of the Simple Machines Forum to the version 2.1, currently a release candidate but as best we can tell stable enough to use for real.

This will start this coming Friday morning (10 April), and should take an hour or two; the forums will be unavailable whilst the upgrade takes place. If there are delays, I'll post updates on our Facebook page.

There will undoubtedly be things broken and not quite right; I'm on enforced holiday this week and next so I should have plenty of time to fix them. Roll Eyes Cheesy

One thing I know is that by default, email notifications will be turned off by the upgrade. After the upgrade, it's easy to re-enable these on the Notifications page of your profile.

If you want a preview of the new software, please visit the QA site. Note that anything posted there will be lost during the upgrade, so if you spot a problem, please report it here on the live site instead.

Thanks,
Gizmo
37  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Missing Posts on: January 27, 2020, 11:00:20 AM +0000
Well, that was confusing. When SMF reads the posts for anything but the last page of a topic, it starts from the index of the first post for that page (e.g. if there are 15 posts per page, for page 1 it starts from 0, for page 2 from 15, and so on)... but when viewing the last post of a topic, it takes the number of posts it thinks are in the topic, reverses the order, and asks for what are effectively the last n posts for the topic starting from the end. If the total count for the topic is wrong (e.g. after a hardware failure when the database replicas have to be brought in line manually), it drops posts from the last page... but always keeps the final one, thus maximising confusion. Roll Eyes

The lesson is... when there's a replication failure, after bringing the databases back in line, always tell the forum to recount all the posts in the all the topics in all the world.

How odd. The database shows that post (327722) with the correct board and topic IDs. Huh
39  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Cobra classification (L20 CvC - Willow Springs) on: January 26, 2020, 03:39:08 PM +0000
Is the Cobra supposed to be classified in GTC-65?
40  SRou / Announcements / Unexpected outage on: December 25, 2019, 09:12:54 AM +0000
Looks like SRou HQ lost internet connectivity last night just after 22:00, and it didn't come back until 09:00 today. It's possible that OpenReach pulled forward some planned engineering work which was due in early January, but the outage was unusually long.
41  SRou / Announcements / Database restore on: October 19, 2019, 07:34:33 PM +0100
Apologies, but unfortunately there was an issue with the MariaDB servers earlier today which has led to the need to restore the database from a backup taken in the early hours of this morning. Posts made, private messages sent, any team changes and anything done in the league management system since 4:20 UK time this morning will have been lost.
42  UKAC / UKAC Races / Re: UKAC AC Competizione - Misano Night Race - Sept 4 on: September 05, 2019, 05:28:25 PM +0100
Results imported; they've updated the format so now we have race total time. Smiley Please check it shows you in the right car. Wink
43  SRou / Announcements / Re: Reduced Website Availability, 2-3 August on: August 08, 2019, 09:26:04 PM +0100
Email notifications now working again. Smiley
44  SRou / Announcements / Re: Reduced Website Availability, 2-3 August on: August 08, 2019, 09:14:24 PM +0100
A misconfiguration with race imports requiring an extra PHP module has been corrected.
45  SRou / Announcements / Re: Reduced Website Availability, 2-3 August on: August 08, 2019, 09:49:19 AM +0100
Hi Dave, I seem to no longer get email notifications when someone sends me a PM. Is this just me?

I'll look into it; thanks for reporting.

This morning's outage was caused by the database running out of space. It's been given more and told not to be so greedy. Cheesy
