They have fun races on Wednesday nights
2  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / Re: UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: March 13, 2023, 03:22:26 PM +0000
Bugger, really wish i had seen that Sebring race notice, looks fantastic and i was free this weekend  Cry

I was very tempted to race the Spa F1 70's race with the THR mob, i finally signed up and did a load of practise laps but think they have a '3 pre-events rule' before being allowed in a championship race but may have still been able to squeeze in. Anyway, enjoyed doing laps around the fab Spa 60's layout.  Cool

Sadly the GT supreme cars are a bit meh from when I tried them recently.
As for the F1 - read the notices carefully and you'll see that you can fast-track past the 3 race requirement by following some link or other. That's what Solmyr and I did in order to join them for the 4Hr endurance event at Deutchlandring.
Failing that, do this Wednesdays fun race (currently looks to be RSS GT1's at Barcelona) plus the next 2 Saturday fun events and you'll get ranked and can enter regardless (Next Sunday is NASCAR mind you).

They just run  a second server for the lower qualifiers when numbers exceed one servers worth so you would have made it in easy Wink
3  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / Re: UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: February 07, 2023, 02:40:09 PM +0000
Sorry Bob - but the numbers just weren't there any more and organising these things took a hell of a lot of time Sad

A few of us have gone here though:
https://thracing.de/
Prepare yourself for a bit of reading and learning though as it's mostly run on a Discord server ( cursing ) so learning your way around takes a while.
Even now I mostly know where I'm going it still just highlights why forums are better when ever I do something Cheesy

To give an idea of the smaller of the 2 weekly series, here's the live stream from last weekends NASCAR race at Watkins.
No commentary as that would cost money that don't often have - also the camera is controlled by a bot so expect a few odd bits of timing for camera/car changes.

The 'big' season currently running is the RSS 1970 F1 championship:
https://thracing.de/formula-1970-championship/

This had 43 drivers spread across 2 servers for round 1 Shocked Much like my seasons often do it has 2 'drop' rounds so missing R1 won't affect you if you make most of the remaining races.
Some very good, clean racing - but also a fair few spills and thrills further down the field. I think this is due to the massive grid more than anything else really.
4  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / Re: UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: January 23, 2023, 05:15:57 PM +0000
Erm - Maxime got taken out in turn 3 of the opening lap and consequently fell to the centre of the earth.
He was eventually allowed out of the pits 3 minutes down and only just on the lead lap (Laptime is roughly 3:39-3:40 for most of the lead bunch).
He managed to climb back upto about 26th I think in the first 1:40 before handing over to me.
I passed what felt like 100 cars in my 2Hrs20 and finally got home in 14th I think, seemingly not all that many seconds over 1 lap down (the Cobra was always going to suffer due to fuel) - there may be some shuffling of the official results yet dependant on penalties and stuff.

This was technically my 3rd race with them - and for the vast majority of the time they are a very good bunch of racers. I went side by side through places at the Deutschlandring where you shouldn't really go side by side with several drivers with plenty of respect given each time.
I've yet to see Maximes incident as it occurred off camera and I haven't DL'd the replay yet, but I suspect it was very bad luck given he  seemed to be almost the only incident in the opening lap despite there being 36 cars Shocked

Based on what I've taken part in I can recommend them - I've already nearly finished skinning my RSS Formula 1970 ready for the next proper season Grin

I'm hoping to see a surge thanks to AC2 also - and for it to be simple enough I can figure it out (Or prod Pete into doing so Wink )

Already got myself authorised Wink
7  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / Re: UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: January 14, 2023, 09:27:15 AM +0000
I should add, thanks to the 4 people who did actually respond - but that's hardly a race series unfortunately. Especially for GT as he would have been driving about on his tod in the lone Alfa.
8  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / Re: UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: January 13, 2023, 11:52:05 PM +0000
Not bothering - no one can even be bothered commenting on whether they aren't turning up.
Off to race the RSS F1970's at THR instead

We only have 3 people even bothering to express an interest in the next series - at this rate we won't be running anything again Roll Eyes
10  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / Re: UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: January 02, 2023, 12:15:55 PM +0000
At Magione they were being lapped every 7/8 laps or so by the AI.
I didn't want to mix the grid but have people saying they won't drive the Cobra Roll Eyes

As for worse handling the S1 on it's classic spec tires handles much better, you can balance it on the brakes and throttle - the Modernised car is more about throwing it and brute force.

Brain fart here Cheesy
I had netKar too so kind of forget which sim has what sometimes given that I have near enough all the nKar conversions in AC!

If you're still in contact with Jos can you give him a nudge? I would think this is right up his street!

14  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: January 01, 2023, 12:28:41 PM +0000

Welcome to season 19!
As originally stated this series will run with the 289 AC Cobras - there will also be a second class featuring the Alfa GTA providing it gets a minimum of 3 drivers, please confirm what you intend to drive on this thread so I can plan accordingly.  Smiley
This season will start on the 18th of January.

The 289 Cobra was rapidly over-shadowed by the vastly more powerful 427 in competition use, but that didn't stop it from becoming an immensely popular competitor at club level events - which is exactly what this season is designed to replicate.
As such we will be visiting smaller circuits more befitting to club status, in addition it will also make life easier for the Alfa grid (should it materialise) to cause the snakes some troubles at the twistier venues.
Due to the requested mixed grid I will run the S1 variant of the Cobras, this was balanced to be on a par with the historic racing variants and doesn't use modern tires - again giving some slightly more realistic interactions with the GTA's.

Races will be roughly 40 minutes in length, but determined by laps.
Tires & fuel will be set to 100% usage, damage to 80%

There will be no mandatory pit stops but I suspect the Cobras will need tires at some venues if driven hard Wink

Track list: (Subject to alteration if necessary)

Aviano Short (Stock nK Tongue )
Bridgehampton
New Jersey Motorsports Park: Lightning
Magione (Stock AC)
High Plains North
Villa Bordeu
Laguna Seca (Stock AC)
St Jovite Nord

I enjoyed that a lot - nice little cars and a really good circuit.
We'll have to wait for the results to go up as the track isn't in the DB.

In the mean-time, those of you with the RSS GT + GTn packs may want to re-visit the server as I have left it running with both car packs loaded - they are a lot of fun here Grin
