Yes, Johnny....Pit wall must be in place or risk disqualification.

Apologies Paul V, for the clip that spun us both coming onto the S/F straight. I know it must have appeared that I was monstering you a little.... Roll Eyes But the reason i was so close was in simple terms....You- Lotus, Me- BT7. I was hoping to get a good draft from you down the straight and a slingshot down into T1 to pick up a little time after my unfortunate T1 spin the lap before.
If I'd known you were not going to accelerate off the turn, I'd have taken a totally different line....and run the risk of you running over the top of my sludgebox on the straight. Outdragging a Lotus in a BT7 is really not an option. By the time i realized you weren't accelerating and probably letting me go....I'd already opened the taps in antici------------pation
of making a little horsepower and following you. When i tried to move out from behind you I clipped your back wheel with my Left front.....and the rest is history. Not the ideal place to let someone charging past.....right on the exit of a corner......midway down the chute would have been a better option. Anyway....sorry for the contact, it was an accident.

The BT7 may be not too far away from the other cars in Hristo's hands......but at this level.....it sucks.

Skippin' this one, a poor excuse for a goat track, rather than a race track. More likely be a crash fest than anything else. I'm off to bed......good luck everyone, you'll need it.
Night.

Surprised to find that I was the only Porsche on the grid, at a track that rewards a good handling car through the corners. For some of the race at least it was just like peak hour on the freeway with all those fat lumps of iron in front beetling thru the corners then disappearing in a fumy haze down the straights.
Had an entertaining dice with Sergio for a few laps of cut and thrust. Sorry if I gave you a wee tap in DD about 4 laps in Sergio. I was trying to turn in under your whale and get a good drive out up the inside. Didn't seem to upset your car too much, and I assure you, I wasn't trying to 'push' past. I was really enjoying the dice though....Smiley

A bit later I picked up Dave Rainier as he was departing the pits after, I presume, an S 'n G. Drove my butt off trying to keep the buffer I needed between us so that he couldn't easily close the gap. Managed that for quite a few laps, until I ran it wide thru Parc, I think...shot across the track to the other side when it gripped up, then had trouble stopping it in the grass....Ended up parking up against the END of a haybale. Needed to back up before I could get out of there. Mark, Evil and Dean came on the scene, which held me up a little, but also the cars in front....which let me get somewhat closer to David after his earlier determined attempt to squeeze by. I did make it hard for him, by design..... Wink

The laps ran down very quickly, just trying to keep Dave's 2d in close proximity, then on the last lap, stupid spin in DD....after kicking it there all race. Very disappointing.
Enjoyed the race heaps though, and I hope I made it difficult for some that I came across.......lol
Great fun, Grats to the podium Wallahs.....and thanks also to the guys that made my race enjoyable.

I don't care who it is that wins, but anyone other than bloody Vettel....he's done more to add boredom to F1 than any driver I can think of.

Seems they won't allow members of the Commonwealth to sign the petition. Didn't seem to bother H.M. Gov, when they needed somewhere to explode their nuclear bombs!
You have my moral support regardless gents....Best of luck.

And Fran, into Curva Grande on the last lap...you had to know I was right beside you, surely? Turning into me was not a good deal. Lucky for me warp kicked you into the fence
Sorry Geof but I was a little bit disappointed from your action.A copy of this incident happened in the 67 with Fabio awith the same result,my car destroied. When a car disappear from the mirror coul be on the side or coul be in the rear side, and in this curve and at that point and speed ,i must do the curve or i must meeting the wall.Normally I release the gas and i go in oversteer,so i "close" the curve.
Wat disappoint me is the fact that you was faster than me and after the 2 Lesmo you had all the space for an overtake.Anyway the final result don't change but is better,in my opinion,to avoid overtakes in place that can assure an incident. Smiley

Well, not quite correct. I was faster through the corners only, my overly tall top gear only allowed me to hold station rather than cruise past outside of the draft. I had no option but to use the cars best attribute, it's cornering performance. When I have someone draft me into CG, I always back off and give them the corner....it's not the place to be defending. Driving the rest of the lap in a tidy manner then allows you to draft from Ascari to Parabolica and attack them there. At the 200 marker into CG, a quick right glance shows me to be right beside you. Racecraft also includes knowing when to shut the throttle and give best to an opponent that has track position. Remember, you're running at the front now, not dicing for 10th....the games a little different at the pointy end. How about joining me for some practice before the next event, and we can try to get your car a little more user friendly....mine doesn't snap oversteer when I close the throttle. PM me if you're interested Fran.
Geoff.

Had a great car setup, bar the gearbox which was just one click too long in top. Apart from that, I could put it anywhere on the track that I wanted...any time, and at any speed. Pity the driving left a bit to be desired... Undecided
Sorry Dave for clipping you in that clumsy spin out of Lesmo 2. I thought it best to wait til you got going then follow off. Caught up the pack again, then a few laps later had a brain fade and put it in the beach at Para then firmly wedged in the fence. Reset, s 'n g yada yada yada and a lonely race til the last couple when I caught Bernie and Francesco. Thanks Bernie for doing the gentlemanly thing. And Fran, into Curva Grande on the last lap...you had to know I was right beside you, surely? Turning into me was not a good deal. Lucky for me warp kicked you into the fence
as my car wasn't upset in any way...I didn't even know you weren't there til I saw the replay. Congrats Phil on your maiden UKGPL victory..and well done Dave for bringing home P2.
Geoff.

Edit: Johnny P....why did you select the slowest bucket in the mod to drive?....Honestly, a unicyle with one wheel missing would be just slightly slower!!... Grin
45  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 24 (2013) Novices Trophy (65) - Aintree - Mar 5 on: March 06, 2013, 12:46:49 PM +0000
Disastrous race.....Sad  I'd been practicing a while in the Coop for this race, and knew it was going to be a difficult one. Apologies to Dave Curtis for hitting you at T2. I had a good run on teammate Rog out of T1 and figured I'd have a crack at him, to try and keep some of the Lotus's at least in sight! I braked early by my standards, but Rogs' Fezza stepped sideways into my path, shortening my braking distance available by at least 1/2 a mile. I had to ease the brakes and jink around him to avoid a contact, but from that point it wouldn't have stopped....I was pretty much a passenger. So from then on I got hit from pillar to post by every man and his auntie....and deposited on my nut in the middle of the track.
Reset, s n g later, and the race was a washout really. Confirmed that presumtion after the s n g, chased Dave C out of the pits, decided I could possibly run for a while with him and use the pace of the Lotus to drag me up....Until we encountered Tony in the Honda. Dave snuck past in the technical section and left me trying to get by a car painfully slow in the corners and rocket fast in a straight line. Even up the back straight in his draft the Coop would only stay with him, it wouldn't even consider drafting by. Now, I'd deliberately been quite slow through the kink trying to maintain accurate lines and working on a tidy entry into the last corner, aiming at a fast exit onto the S/F straight. I couldn't see Dave Curtis had spun and was sitting off to the right from the kink, nor were there any yellows waving at that point. Sorry indeed for swatting the back of your Honda Tony, but you must have been fixated on the spinner rather than where you were meant to be going. Forgetting to drop the brakes and to accelerate.....left me nowhere else to go, you just kept coming back at me. And, really 80mph thru the kink is about 20-25mph slower than my regular pace thru the corner, and i was taking it easy....I was a bit concerned I might get t-boned mid corner at my pace. I truly had no way of knowing you were struggling that much. the offer of some training is still open at your leisure. PM me when you want to.
Congratulations to my 2 CH teammates for their fine driving, and snaring of P1 and P2 .....and a special 'Well Done' to Paul, for his excellent 3rd. You owe me a beer for those diff settings, we'll talk bars next time.... Wink
Geoff.
