676  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 16 Novices and Amateurs Trophy Registration on: September 18, 2008, 06:20:51 AM +0100
Hi Ken, a little bird tells me you've done the IOM a few times......? I dips me lid sir Grin
As to the stink wheels, I still own a '79 'F' model 250 a '82 'J' model 250 and a '94 pre-airbox V twin TZ250. All of which I am keeping. I have long ago retired from riding, but until my boys came along I was crewing for various people round the traps. Faster race mechanic/rider liason than rider....lol. In 2000 I did the 250 class and 2001 the 125 class, with Wildcard rides for both in the Philip Island round of the World Champs. Coolest thing I've ever done.....pretty hard to top rubbing shoulders with your heroes in the pits. (Ralf Waldemann, Randy Mamola, Kevin Schwantz, Valentino, Casey Stoner in his first year on 125's......right next door to us in the next pit.....Great stuff). Luckily, i was there for the the last full season of 2 strokes. I don't know what your thoughts on GP racing are, but for me, no matter how fast they go in a straight line......diesel powered computers just don't do it for me. Take the gizmo's of 'em and then we'll see who can really ride 'em..... and bring back the threat of a highside for bad riding......this lowside crap is boring.....lol
Cheers Ken
Geoff

Seriously, if Kawasaki weren't a corporation, that can't admit they screwed up....they'ed have modded the great 2007 chassis and shoehorned the 08 engine in, with the possibility of a decent bike. Instead, they do the predictable......blaming a very good rider for his inability to come to grips with what is essentially and fundamentally, a dog. Plus, the factory would have offered the pick of tyres to the 'lead' rider.....Hopper, and Westy would have been saddled with the next best.....standard team practice. While my arse points to the ground, Hopper will never be anything other than a midfielder. Superbike riders cannot ride GP, and Bayliss on the Ducati proved that point, succinctly. Note well, all the guys at the front have extensive 2 stroke experience....And all the 'experts' in suits and ties wanna phase them out. motoGP sadly is gonna end up as boring as F1 was, if they don't dump that electronics crap. Stoners recent lowsides are all due to riding off the side of the tyre, with the help of the electronics. In the pre-traction control days, a highside would have occurred long before that point was reached. I have 15-16 yrs 250-125GP experience under my belt as a rider and crew chief. Some of the antics of these 'Pro' teams, just make me shake my head in wonder Huh........chiefly at the stupidity. more later....

Cool Jack, Honda it is then if that's ok. Can't call myself a novice at this....Amateur fits well. Any other guys with real world racing experience in UKGPL? I've logged over 10yrs of GP250 bikes.....so no stranger to tracks and associated etiquette.

I should be able to make all the races as well.......it;s not often I get rostered to work Tuesday night. c'mon Hristo, the 65's are a blast!!. See you all tonight. I'd rather the Honda as it's my favorite....but the BT11 will be fine if you really need some pilots. Cheers Geoff.
