1  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 33 (2018) 1967 F1 - Monaco - Jun 24 on: June 24, 2018, 10:08:24 PM +0100
Bad luck to those that couldn't join.

Monaco got the better of me once again. Lined up 2nd behind Greg. Pelle made a lightning start behind us and launched into the lead. Greg had a spin at the chicane which vaulted me up back up to second.

Clive nipped at my heels early on but I slowly pulled away. Managed 10 trouble free laps but then my concentration wilted and it was error after error. I made a hash of the chicane which completely ruined the handling of the car. Poor Dave Curtis who allowed me to lap him must of wondered what the hell was happening. I managed three spins in three corners! Gave up at the Gasworks. Best of luck to those still running.

This will be my last race for a while. For whatever reason I haven't been enjoying this season as much as I'd like so I'll be taking an extended break. I'll probably return, I have a history of coming back  Smiley.

Many thanks to you all for the racing over the years. It's been a pleasure (hard to believe my first race was 10 years ago!). And to the UKGPL mod team, thank you for organising this league and for your support in helping me moderate the past couple of seasons.

That was a fantastic race and just to put the icing on the cake, I won!

Wonder when my last UKGPL win was?

A big thank you to Sam for his setup from last season.  It was amazing!  You just had to point it!

Another big thank you to Fran, for spotting in his mirrors that I was following Bastian and for giving me the room to pass.

Then finally thank you to Bastian, Evil and Doni, the people that figured in my race, for their excellent driving.  45 laps and not a scratch!

I suppose that I should thank Mercedes for the grunt in their engine that took me across the line just a gnat's nadger in front of Bastian.  Sorry about that Bastian.

Tim is keeping up a good score rate in the Gordini and will have a fortune in Thornton Dollars by the end of the season!

Not sure what happened to Evil.  He just went off in T1 in a cloud of tyre smoke when there was nobody near him.

Well done Clive! Great to see you winning again. I'm glad the setup worked for you  Smiley

Season 33 Graduates Cup – Round 2 – Mexico City

Round 2 of the championship takes place at Mexico City. The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a 4.304 km (2.674 mi) motorsport, named after the racing drivers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. The circuit got its name shortly after it opened when Ricardo Rodríguez died in practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix. Ricardo's brother Pedro also lost his life behind the wheel nine years later.

The registrations for this seasons Graduates Cup are not sufficient to support separate grids (unless there is a last minute rush). Therefore, both Works & Privateers drivers will participate on the same grid. All drivers have the same tokens allocations. We will, however, run two championships, & separate points will be scored for each. A Privateer may finish the actual race 5th, but still win the Privateers race. The race will be moderated as a combined grid. Privateers are asked not to hold up a Works driver whilst being lapped, but you may race fairly for track position.

The important difference is that Privateers are permitted one reset with a compulsory Stop & Go. Although the race setting is “Intermediate” Works drivers are not allowed to take a reset.

Server = UKGPL4
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 27-05-2018
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Papyrus Original
Race length = 27 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Intermediate

Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the championship standings page

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works  / Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Privateer Drivers are permitted 1 Shift R followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within 2 laps. Failure to make a stop will result in a 30 second time penalty. If you require a stop & go on the final lap & are unable to complete a time penalty of 15 secs is added.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Congrats to John for a convincing win this season, to Dave Rainier for the runners up spot and to Dave Curtis for 3rd.

Overall the standard of driving this round has pretty clean so many thanks for that. Hope to see you all next season  Smiley.

Yes many congrats to Tris, Doni & Axel! My race was fun while it lasted. Made a poor start and spent the next half battling through the field. At half distance real life intervened so called it a day.

Congrats to Greg for winning the sports car trophy. For whatever reason, this season I've been blighted by the braking bug. It caused me to go off again this round. I don't remember it being much of an issue in previous seasons, but driving around it this season has proven beyond me. I look forward to trying out the GT Extra mod whenever that gets released.

Thanks guys for the racing this season. It's been good fun  Smiley.

Congrats on a very convincing win this season Rob! You're the benchmark for me and I'm sure for many other drivers and the trophy was thoroughly deserved.

This race was one of my better efforts this season, though I still managed a couple of spins. I thought I blew it after my first one but with my car advantage over Rob's humble Cooper I very slowly clawed the gap down. It was a very intense last few laps. As Rob mentioned I managed to get a better drive out of the first turn on the last lap the slingshot past into the lead. It was good to salvage a win in what has been a very trying season.

Hopefully I will be able to attend more races next season. For one reason or another I couldn't make a few this season. I also need to invest in a new shifter, my trusty g25 unit is showing its age and is having a nasty habit of selecting first gear in game when I shift it into 3rd! Made some hairy driving under braking this round. It's a wonder the engine lasted the distance. Until next time chaps, thanks for the racing.

Season 32 Privateers Trophy – Round 10 - Balcarce

For the final round of the Privateers Trophy, across the Atlantic towards Latin America, Argentina.

Autódromo Juan Manuel Fangio is a motorsports circuit located near Balcarce, Argentina. It has hosted events in the Turismo Carretera series. The 2011 race saw tragedy as young Argentinian Guido Falaschi was fatally injured in a multi-car crash.

The track was named after Argentinian racing legend, Juan Manuel Fangio, who was born in Balcarce.

There is a track upgrade available at SRMZ that should be used. This is on the same page as the track download link.

Note the Privateers division is run on Intermediate damage settings. Drivers are permitted 1 Shift R followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within 2 laps. Failure to make a stop will result in a 30 second time penalty. If you require a stop & go on the final lap & are unable to complete a time penalty of 15 secs is added.

Great snapshot Clive  Smiley.

And hearty congrats to our inaugural '55 champ Tim! Well deserved mate, as you were the man to beat at most circuits.

I was fortunate to see arch rival Tim & Clive go off at Stowe corner early on. While it was a shame not to battle on track, I was too preoccupied trying to catch Uli for the lead. We had a great battle almost all race, cut short by his engine going pop. A pity it ended that way but hope to keep battling next season Uli  Cool.

Towards the end I was wondering if I could sneak into winning the championship with Tim in 4th place. But Clive's incident late on promoted Tim to 3rd, giving him the points to hold on the crown. Well played.

I for one really enjoyed racing with this mod. I agree, in terms of racing it is difficult, but keeping the machines on the road is another, to my mind enjoyable, challenge altogether. It also appears that though people can extract incredible performance over one lap, doing so over a race distance isn't really sustainable and consequently evens the field somewhat. Bumps and scrapes are inevitable with this mod, but yes, people do need to be more careful, especially in the braking zones. Most of my passes this season were completed getting better exits out of corners, rather than passing people under braking.

Cheers guys, until next time.

I was enjoying my comeback drive after an unfortunate tangle with Axel on the first lap. Only then I braked too late at the final turn, clouted the barrier and managed to lose a wheel (don't think I've done this before in the sports cars  Roll Eyes). Decided to call it a day after that.

See you all at the finale  Smiley.
