i tweaked my graphics quality before the race in line with the recomendations in the installation guide

All good offline with 60fps

came online and only get 30fps and lower, too iffy to race with so had to bail out

and now cant find a fix to get to back to 60fps online grrrrrrrr

3  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: New Drivers on: September 21, 2020, 03:43:48 PM +0100
Hi All

the appeal of GPL has got me back sim racing after what seems an age since the last time I raced

I am amazed how many driver names i recognise who are still enjoying GPL ad reading the thread above a few have come back recently too

having loaded up a new build, most things seem to come back to me and work OK

couple of questions

is there a particular chat room to use before a race. I am a reserve and from memory we used to meet in a chat room and wait to be told if OK to join

in setup info it recommends loading up teamspeak. Is it used?

is there any basic setups for the 55 mod? or advice to get started with a setup for these?

cheers

Peter

Hi All

1st race back after quite a few years away from sim racing

and 1st time driving the 55 mod, lots of fun and realise how rusty i am

I disco'd after a number of laps in race which was really annoying as was having a good race with two others

I had also disco'd in practice and qualifying

I checked my internet connection and had good ping (18ms) and up (35mb) and down speeds (9mb)

any suggestions on settings, patches or PC config i should check/change?

i see in results lots of others disco'd too. was that though choice due to crash or network like me?

any advice/help much appreciated

cheers

Peter

7  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / Re: fanatec wheel and pedal setup on: October 24, 2010, 07:49:21 AM +0100
Thanks Al

In the Porsche setup tool, in the function test tab, there is a FF effect button.

What does this test?
When you press it what happens on your wheel?
8  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / Re: fanatec wheel and pedal setup on: October 22, 2010, 05:52:20 PM +0100
I'm using the latest version of the drivers from their website
i have got version 104, I think that's the latest too

I'll post my setup when I get home.
Thanks much appreciated

What version of Windows are you using?
I'm on win7 64 bit too

One last thing, in the software, or even on the wheel, you can change the FFB settings, make sure that it's set to 100
I tried changing up and down on wheel and still no FFB :-(

Have you got the latest version of GPLShift?
didn't know about GPL Shift. I will have a look
9  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / fanatec wheel and pedal setup on: October 22, 2010, 01:05:16 PM +0100
Hi

I have just bought the fanatec GT3RSV2 wheel and clubsport pedals

I cannot seem to get FFB to work on the wheel.

Has anyone got this setup and can provide any advice on use and config with GPL

cheers

Well that was a sweaty palms final race of the season! sweatdrop

Starting the final race in 1st place in the championship with only a slim lead in front of Vos, and I think the top four all in with a shout, is a bit nerve racking

Things didn’t start off well! oops
Joined qually only to find my wheel had lost its calibration setting, was 90deg out and wouldn't recalibrate.
Had to leave session and try and fix it, played around but still didn't seem to be 100% correct but tried in GPL offline and it seemed to be at least working OK. Rejoined with half the qually session already gone.

Struggled to get any sort of sensible time, either by my own mistakes or meeting other drivers. At the very last moment managed to get a lap in for 4th on the grid. Still way off a PB but it was one place in front of Vos. Phew I thought.

Congrats to D-Rock for pole time clap, especially as he hasn’t been driving for the last 4 rounds.

Start of race and Vos drives past me with ease. Shocked Where are my flying starts when you really need them. Down to 5th and not reached T1 :'(
The front four were pulling away slowly and with Vos in front of me, that was probably the championship gone. Then the race fairy started waving her magic wand  sorcerer and one after the other Vos, D-Rock and NHance fell off the black stuff and I was now second chasing Ross and importantly with Vos behind me in third.

Ross was faster and 100% consistent and slowly pulling out 1/10ths and moving away.
Vos seemed to yo-yo the distance behind me a small amount but generally I seemed to be making the gap bigger.

It seemed a very long race, and I was watching prib times all the way and hoping I didn’t make a mistake

Ended up 2nd and with Vos behind in 3rd was enough to stay in the lead and win the series.
Very pleased to have got there in the end and after 4 seasons in Novs it is nice to finally come out on top.

I would like to thank the following people for helping me win the championship Grin

I Am Not Worthy Vos – thanks for missing the first two rounds, 4 wins in only 8 races makes you top race winner this season
I Am Not Worthy Ross – thank god this was your first full season and your early races you kept falling off. 3 wins and a 3rd in the last 4 races
I Am Not Worthy D-Rock – thanks for being new and absent for four rounds. With 3 poles and 1 win you are too quick.
I Am Not Worthy N-Hance – thanks for missing two rounds, 5 podiums and two Fastest Laps in the last three races means you are also much too quick now.

I think I had a bit of a jenson button season, started well, and by the end was lucky as quite a few others were a lot quicker than me so was lucky to hang on. Thanks for the excellent racing guys

Also Big Thanks to all organizing people. clap See you next season or maybe some fun races soon
13  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 19 (2010) Graduates Cup (67) - Watkins Glen (GP) - Aug 8 on: August 10, 2010, 12:38:04 AM +0100
Not a great race, on my own for most of it and managed to fall off at L19 and rip a wheel off. :-(

Must get better in the 67s

will try and do more in the next season

Congrats to Vos on winning the championship

Fingers crossed I can give Vos more of a race in the Novs on Tuesday
14  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 19 (2010) Novices Trophy (65) - Zeltweg (Österreichring) - Jul 27 on: August 03, 2010, 11:00:38 AM +0100
Wow, very pleased getting my first pole in qualifying
Not quite sure where the time came from as it was well below my PB. Have to thank FMG for a setup and some driving advice. Cheers Tim.

So started in first for the very first time. Bit nervous, but was OK off the line and into T1. kept it all together OK.
With the first few laps gone, and the top three staying close together I was looking forward to a race long battle.

But, odd on lap 4, entered a turn and the car just broke away on the rear. No idea why. It seemed as if I had a puncture or a sudden loss of grip. Prib was showing odd low tyre temps on the left rear.

That cost me two places

Did the same thing a few more times during the race, which in the end put me down to 5th, which still sounds good, but with the low turnout was actually last.

Looking forward to final round at Watkins. Its all very tight at the top and all three places at the end of the season are up for grabs

From the moderators report
"Pete Maestro gets caught on the barriers and continues to drive along them. This isn't exactly rail riding and he didn't seem to gain an advantage from it.@
I was actually stuck with my left wheeels on the wrong side of the barrier and i couldn't get off the *** thing but it was letting me move forward. odd.

didn't know you cant combine the ShR and SnG, so will remember for  next time
15  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 19 (2010) Novices Trophy (65) - Rouen (1955-70) - Jul 13 on: July 14, 2010, 03:19:47 PM +0100
After qualifying 4th expected to see Vos, Bill and Ross disappear into the distance in the race.
Great times from you guys.

In the end early problems for Bill and Ross gifted me 2nd place.

With Vos off into the distance on his own, settled down and backed off a little bit as Prib was showing those behind me falling further away

In the end a very quiet and lonely race but nice to finish 2nd

Now a bit scary as leading the championship and Vos is definatley on a roll

After 4 wins in 6 races, is there anyway I can get Vos's Lotus changed to a BT7?  Wink
