1  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 8 Lower Sprint (GTC) - Barcelona (GP) - Sep 9 on: September 10, 2008, 02:29:06 PM +0100
That was different last night didnt qualify to well (8th) but i was hoping to make up some places during the race,  but i made two many mistakes which stopped any progress id made (thats what happened TT laugh).

When Nsfast spun i had to jump on the brakes, dont remember if i pushed him out of the way or if he grabbed reverse or what but it scared the dolphin outta me.  Went back to 1st gear and floored it but MJ Simon and Evert was queuing up behind me at this point, had MJ on my left and i expected him to stay there as we went around the next bend but he didnt and i left a pile of room incase he did which hurt my exit speed.  I looked in the mirror down the back straight only to see 3 or 4 cars abreast looking like they where going to pounce Shocked, so i moved right over to the outside to leave them some room to sort it out lol, but luckily Simon was the only one to get through.

Later Simon ran wide at the last turn and i set about trying to catch TT and SBG but it took forever to catch up.   TT then did a Simon  Grin and ran wide on that last turn but i couldnt pull away from him and down the back straight he slipped by when i outbraked myself again.

And that was that 6th on the night.
2  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 8 Upper Endurance (GT1/GT2) - Dubai (GP) - Sep 7 on: September 08, 2008, 12:36:08 PM +0100
started the race last night with soft-med accidently, only realised what id done when i thought the front end was so grippy and twitchy on the opening lap Shocked.  Had to make hay before they wore out and make up as much ground as i could.  DMN had a spin near the end of lap 1 or 2,  JPS was next in line and it took a few laps before i got close enough to dive up the inside under brakes.

The next couple of cars was Dave and Jan and i just had to break up their battle laugh.  Got Dave under brakes and on the same lap i think i got Jan exiting the last turn,  a brief look in my mirrors at the time told me Dave was trying to do the same to me coming off that last turn.

Soon caught up with Evert and Mark.  Evert ran wide at the long left hander just before the back straight, he rejoined alongside me but i had my nose infront and kept the place.  Started chasing Mark,  heading up the start/finish straight and got a great slipstream from his car which let me close right up and have a dive underbrakes but i couldnt stop it and ran wide at T1.  Next chance came at the end of the back straight after yet another good tow i think... but somehow i found myself on the wrongside for the next turn as Mark had the inside Huh.   Same time a couple of GTs were passing so i ease off to let them pass and MJ had a bit of respite:laugh: for a moment or two.  But not long after that he had a spin at T1 and i was through.

Was fairly quiet from then on and after my pitstop i seen nobody expect the GTs,  but the first half of the race was action packed, well for me anyway !!

Good race,  although i think i took to much wing thinking about the tire wear late in the race but ah well :'(, it was all good Grin.  Nice battles with TT and Roadrunner but could only make gains when they had made mistakes.  Near the end i was getting closer to the front 2, they looked fairly close for last few laps and i was hoping they would slow each other down enough for me to take full advantage but it didnt happen.

Congrats to Dan btw, nice drive there m8. thumbup1

Engine let go Mark.. having a nightmare this season but nevermind ...Next!

i had special effects turned off for extra FPS, thats why i couldnt see the fireworks.

Needed a good race like that after the disaster that was Oschersleben.

Not a bad race.  Had a good tussle with Gazzer straight away and managed to get a run down the back straight and passed him underbrakes at stowe Cool

I then battled with my teamies for the most part and to tell you the truth it wasnt looking like i could pass them easily.  Madd in the lister got caught on the turn 1 kerbing which scrubbed off some of his speed which allowed me to get alongside and get him into turn 2, good race for lots of laps there m8 Smiley.

Dan was next but again i couldnt see a place to overtake because i was never anywhere close enough to have a late dive underbrakes, so once again im looking for a mistake to get passed.  After a few laps of chasing Dan he pulled up at Stowe Huh

I still had sight of Brian at this stage but he was a good bit down the road and i either got slower or Brian kicked it up a gear because i eventually lost sight of him.

cheers Mark

Unexpected win, thought Dan had that, bad luck there m8,  i didnt even notice passing him when he was in the pits,  i guess thats cos my attention was focused on TT.

But anyway was following dan and made a mistake which let TT through and fought him right till the end when he pulled up,  i now know he ran out of fuel which was lucky for me  :whistling:as he had gotten alongside, again, for the second time at the hairpin and had the inside line.  Good race TT,  drove that mosler well.

SBG had closed right up on us too but time was running out.

cheers.

Another good race there last night.  Good battle with TT for the first half of the race and everything was good until the disco but i wasnt alone as others got discos too.  I was tempted to go for a full tank from the start but it looked like it could be tight near the end (i always seem to use a bit more than whats needed for some reason) so i took half a tank and put more in at the pitstops.  After the pitstops Paul had a good lead and i dont think id have caught him.

Congrats to the winners and cheers to the folks behind the scenes Cool

Just about got in to this with 2 or 3 minutes to spare, tried to get in earlier but the server was full but i checked back later and seen 27/28 in the lobby and jumped in Grin

Didnt get a lap in quick enough so i started from the back and was dreading trying to get through the GT3s even before i left the line but they where all great, some even moved over straightaway as we crossed the line but stupid here goes and runs wide at macleans and all those GT3s that let me through where now back infront  Huh

Eventually managed get through to some GT2s and i remember hassling Peter and having a bit of a moment entering the pits together, still dont know how we got through that lol.  Didnt take tires in a desperate attempt to gain places, may have been a bad decision because i would and did struggle near the end, but i do think i got a few places as a result.

Mike then appeared just ahead on the edge of the track, i think he made a mistake and was recovering just as i passed.  He caught me in no time tho and i really couldnt put up much of a fight and he got me at T1 when i left a pile of room for him to get through.

Congrats podiums Cool

Good race folks.  Had a great scrap with Berni Lomax for alot of the race even though he was clearly faster and that red Alfa of Drakes, good battles.  Could not see alot of people at the start of the race (half the field infront) so apologies to anyone that may have got punted angel.

Congrats to the podium.

Was a very good race last night.  It was one of those where you need eyes on the back of your head Grin, very exciting stuff.   I was trying to get Jeff but had to keep tabs on TT as to his where abouts ninja, Managed to get alongside Jeff heading into T1 but i couldnt take the place as jeff had to turn in sometime and as he did he kept his spot.  I had been looking to pass Paul straight after Jeff got thru but i gotta a shock when TT and i touched, didnt know what hit me Wink

After that i just tried to get back in touch with Paul but never could, after the pitstops i got within viewing distance but that was it.

PS. TT, now i really do owe you one lol yes

Cheers Mark.

Great race.  I was late joining the server but still had some stuff to do before i could settle down.  When i eventually got to sit down there was only 2 minutes left of qualifying and managed to get in a lap before the switch to the race, which put me a the back off my class Smiley.

Had a race long battle with Peter as he already said, but im amazed at my pitstop which gifted Peter my place.  Did everything i normally do , cut engine while stopping and hit return, i know that the pitcrew always takes maybe 2 to 3 secs before they start refueling because its the same every race i do, always end up wiggling the steering wheel to get them to hurry up but it never works Grin.  Anyway i took 43 Litres and new rubber allround and watched in horror as Peter left the pits before me Huh maybe Peter started with a full tank of fuel and only had to top his tank up.

Near the end Freq had closed right up on us both and that had me right on the edge of my seat for the rest of the race, but luckily everything stayed the way it was and held on for 4th sweatdrop.

Congrats to Mike on your first Win, and Paul.

Excellent race there.  Found myself dicing with Purdie early on and the only place i could battle back was on the main straight as the vertigo was just too good thru the slow stuff.  Had to really keep an eye behind me the whole time as those vertigos would simply close right up and i was expecting them to have a lunge either at the last turn or at the slow double right hander.

Mean while TT, Zarcari and Baracus was just ahead and a few times we all got bunched up, nose to tail when we hit the back markers.  However, i could get real close to TT at the last turn but could never get a good run on him cos he was exiting there so well.  All the while Pops was just behind me and had me under pressure for the most part and i think we made contact maybe 3 times, but as we got onto the the main straight id open a little gap, but after turn 2 he'd simply close the gap as he appeared to be able to take a few of the turns flat out were as id have to come off the power.  Like Purdie said intresting racing with the different abilities of the cars.

Was seriously good fun out there.

PS. @ Pops - no worries about that m8, you waited and everything and you left  the server as i was typing a reply.

Cheers and Congrats to Bara for a good win.

Superb race there last night.   Guessed id have 2nd at T1 Lap 1 but a brief look in the mirror i saw PRibero blasting up the inside to take 1st blink, tucked up behind him and thought id have 2nd as Feq was left up high on the ouside but he took the long way around and kept 2nd.  Very close group of cars in the opening laps,  Managed to pass Freq on the outside of the last turn as he had to back off from PRibero.  I then followed PR for another lap or so with Brian fairly close to me too, but i figured my only way to get PR was in the slow section as id have no chance to get him on the straights, and lucky for me it worked although at the time i thought id touched him and made him spin but i never felt any contact so i drove on Undecided.

Clear track ahead of me so i was able to just drive and not worry about the guys behind.  I thought if i could keep this little gap id have 1st after the pitsops.  I didnt expect Freq to have such a good stop and so my gap was not so good.  Then caught up with Backo and i suspected he never took tires since i was able to close up easy, then got on the inside at that long left hander and got by.

After that Freq closed up little by little and eventually was right on me,  We then battled it out, he got alongside for maybe the 3rd time and he had the line for T1 but i tried to go round the outside while we were side by side and at T2 i was worried about leaving him room and cut T2 to much and had a slide allowing Freq to take the lead.  Got back on track and was following him when he had a moment of his own and i promptly dived down the inside making a little contact, Sorry about that BTW.

So i had the lead again but he just stuck to my bumper and i couldnt shake him at all, he'd have a run but id go to the inside to cover and just about cling on.  But he eventually got the lead back and i really couldnt see how i could get it back but 3 turns from the end Freqs car froze and i hit it, knocked me off track but nothing to serious as i got back on track, i actually thought he may have had a bit of lag and i expected him to be around the last corner doing doughnuts lol Tongue.

But anyway what crappy luck you had there m8, PCs are a nigthmare sometimes but im sure you'd have won it.

Congrats Simon for the GT3 win Cool

Cheers
