1516  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: JOE SHAW MEMORIAL TROPHY on: October 24, 2012, 12:37:01 AM +0100
Seems we have a concensus about running running a 3 race mini-series in the Easter break.

Trust that no disprespect will be inferred but I will arrange a race at Goodwood on this coming Sunday. Post to follow.
1517  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Novices Trophy (65) - Silverstone - Oct 23 on: October 24, 2012, 12:29:00 AM +0100
Got the "square" steering wheel on the favoured Brabham! Rejoined the server several times in vain but then changed to the Lotus. Used an old set up which was a bit short on gearing & took half the race to get down to a 1.34 lap.
Bit of a calamity on lap one - was cautious into T1 but couldn't avoid the road block. SnG later at the back of the field & mangaed to claw back a few places up to 7th - mostly thanks the the sqabble between Adam & badblood.
Qually times at the top of the grid were inpressive & would not have disgraced themselves in the higher divisions.

Thanks to Al H for posting the steering wheel fix. I'm sure I would have been quicker in the BT11.

Phillipe - you should have taken a Shift R - your Quallification time was good & even with a SnG you would have been in the mix with me, BB & Adam.
1518  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Joe Shaw Memorial Race on: October 23, 2012, 11:40:30 AM +0100
I know the track has a glitch somewhere but I how about Joe Shaw memorial warm up at Goodwood in the 1965 Mod this Sunday & then schedule something more organised during the Christmas break.
To even things up for all comers Novices can take the BT11 & Pros the BT7 (Inters have a choice of either).

A couple of important additions to the mod report for the Lights!

Slip of the fingers in typing I guess Bill - easily done I know...

It was correct at time of posting. Following the moderation at Silvy Phil dropped a a few points which promoted Fran to 3rd in the championship table. As per the thread above this may have been a bit late notice for Fran so no action to be taken on that front.

Will try & get the mod reports done a bit quicker - but modding is nearly as much fun as  poking yourself in the eye with a stick!

PLEASE NOTE
The HEAVY race will probably be on UKGPL3 but this is a small chance this could change to UKGPL8.
1522  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Formula 2 Trophy - Enna - Oct 19 on: October 18, 2012, 10:15:11 PM +0100

After the moderation of the last round I've dropped to 4th in the Championship.  So that should mean I'm OK to take any chassis and Francesco is restricted to the Ferrari, Brabham BT14 or Cooper.

Sorry Francesco.  A tip from me, don't take the BT14!!
Agreed. Francesco - if you don't see this post before the race or do not have adeqaute time to set up the Cooper don't worry. The difference between the Cooper & other cars is quite small.

Moderation now published.

Will lap times around the 1m 10secs area be good enough for me not to get lapped at least once  Grin
As far as I can see the World Record is 1.12 so 1.10 should do quite nicely.
1525  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Formula 2 Trophy - Enna - Oct 19 on: October 17, 2012, 10:06:22 AM +0100
Had a quick look at Enna last night. Race length will be 32 laps.
Billy’s top tip for this track – turn left, turn left  … turn left  (I meant right). Seriously, you can learn this one very quickly, it’s as near as you can get to an oval but still a proper race track with braking zones.
1526  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Formula 2 Trophy - Enna - Oct 19 on: October 16, 2012, 11:03:21 PM +0100
THIS POST IS FOR THE LIGHT & HEAVY RACES

Next stage of the European tour is a trip to Enna in Italy, a circuit created for the newly released Formula 2 Mod.
For future reference the following race (Round 8 ) has been rescheduled to Hockenheim, not Bremgarten.

Enna Pergusa circles lake Pergusa in Siciliy. Historically it did host a non-championship Formula 1 Race, the Mediterranean Grand Prix. A version of the 60’s track layout was recently released by Ginetto for the release of the Formula 2 Mod so it seemed right & proper to include in our first F2 Championship. There are no chicanes & no left hand turns. Being a short, high speed track it should produce some close racing & drafting opportunities. Watch out for turn 4, the entry looks a lot faster than the exit.

The handicaps for each Division will be:
LIGHTS Hristo – Ferrari or Brabham BT14. Evil Clive &  Natan -  Ferrari, Brabham BT14 or Cooper.
HEAVY Rainier – Ferrari or Brabham BT14. Rog UK & Phil Thornton -  Ferrari, Brabham BT14 or Cooper.

The series will be run on two separate grids; The Lights (on T7) & the Heavys (on UKGPL 3). Please ensure you join the correct race. The Driver list is shown below & the Championship Table can be found here F2 European Tour

Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.

In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation  in the red zone which will be all of lap one. The Moderator may chose to investigate any other incident, in addition to reported incidents & red zone incidents.

Please note that for Season 23 UKGPL has introduced a system of penalties within each series  for drivers accumulating yellow cards – see here
Penalty Points. Drivers incurring these penalties will receive a PM advising when a penalty has been applied & what race it should served.

I think "CRAP" is a tolerable amount of swearing for this forum.
Got my set ups mixed up & just before the flag went down realised I was only fueled for 6 laps. Thought I might be able to exit & rejoin form pit lane - but no luck. Thats' cost me 17 tokens! So ... Crap.
Best of luck to David, Dave & Fabio - hope you have better luck & collect get some good team points.
1528  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Novices Trophy (65) - Charade - Oct 9 on: October 10, 2012, 12:23:06 PM +0100
My approach to learning a new track is generally to see how fast I can go through a corner without crashing & whether you can carry a higher gear / brake a bit later. A style which is poorly suited to tracks like Clermont & Nurburgring.
First clean lap was 3.40’s which I reduced to a 3.34. Based on qualifying times from the last Novs race that looked quite competitive. Last night was a bit of a reality check with Rob, Al & Johnny getting mid 3.20’s!
Lap 1 was a bit of a disaster – finding a ditch about 300ft deep that really need a Landrover to get out. Remaining laps were relatively clean & I had some great battles with Paul. He powered past me after a couple of laps but went mountaineering half a lap later. After that I had mirrors full of Dave C for virtually the rest of the race. I’m guessing he was a bit faster, but was really patient on a track which has very few places to pass.
Hopefully the grid will be a more competitive at Silverstone & we can give Rob a race. Also, I won’t need a route map to find my way back on track.

PS. Johnny - as Al says I think your PC problems are related to power saving settings.
1529  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Novices Trophy (65) - Charade - Oct 9 on: October 09, 2012, 10:51:03 AM +0100
Sub 3.30? Oh dear.
I’ve done a couple of stints at Clermont with the sole purpose of being able to avoid the ditches, banks & various other obstacles & 3.35 is as fast as I dare to push it.
11 laps is going to require a lot of concentration &/or luck.

Should add a note of congratualtions to team-mate Dave Curtis for his first win in UKGPL.
