1  UKAC / UKAC Announcements / Re: UKAC season 19 - AC/AR Challenge on: March 18, 2023, 12:02:19 PM +0000
Yep saw that one MJ, but that track takes a LOT of learning for a fun race. They held a fun race a couple of evenings ago in the 2002 at Sonoma and I managed to bag second place..... mainly I think because I was more familiar with the track than most of the other drivers  Smiley

Going to try to watch some of 12Hr Sebring today/tonight and then racing NASCAR Cup at Riverside with THR tomorrow. And catch the F1 and watch France demolish Wales and get out on my bike  laugh

Last night's enduro was one of the best events I've raced in. 15 Group C, 15 GTR and 100+ minutes of hard racing at one of my favourite tracks. I was in an RSR and had race long battles with a Pantera, Nissan and a Capri while getting buzzed by the Group C monsters.... I was totally shattered by the finish  sweatdrop

Of the Group C cars I tried there were some real gems in there even if some of them do look like they're built from Lego. Most of them have suspension and aero from the Kunos LT Porsche but they all manage to feel a bit different and they each have their strengths/weaknesses in performance. Next event is in April for 300KM of modern Spa.

The rest of the series details are here:

Another discord channel dedicated to classics AC racing I thought might interest some.....

https://discord.me/vintageac

They hold a couple of weekly drop in events and run well organised weekend series with big grids.

They are about to start a new team multiclass endurance series this Sunday featuring a selection of Group C cars from GT Supreme and the AC Legends GT..... two drivers per team, one in GrpC and one in GT. I think they hold shorter practice races on Saturdays too.

I might be tempted to join their fun race tomorrow evening....

Might join you for this one. Re-installed Raceroom and seems to be running ok and I managed to get on the server this evening so should be good.

This Radical is very nicely done..... feels much more convincing than other Rad mods I've tried and would make a nice little series if there was the interest.

The 3 races I had at the deutschring were like dodgems in the opening lap Roll Eyes

The few races prior to that were fine..... really good actually but that was mostly with the regular racers who seem to be very well behaved and respectful AND very quick  Shocked

The part of the grid where I race is where the problems are, non regulars with the usual mix of turn 1, lap 1 heroes amongst them. The penalty system in the championships will eventually sort them out.

I'm going to be taking a break from online racing. In the last three events at THR I was taken out with race ending damage on the first lap and that was after managing to dodge many other incidents caused by some pretty shocking driving. It's what to expect when I'm racing near the back of the grid I suppose but just not enjoyable and not worth putting the effort in to practice for that.

AC events at Simracing GP seem to be on the wain too.... the only series that seem to get any numbers these days are MX5s, Praga and Formula Tatuus which I find pretty dull.

I don't hold out much hope for AC2 either. It took years to get AC as good as it is today and I've never found any enjoyment in ACC.

Anyway, thanks to all I've raced with here over the years and to all who have organised events past and present. I'll pop my head around the door from time to time to see what's going on. Happy racing  thumbup1

You can apply to admin and request to bypass the usual entry requirements by giving your history and linking them to your racing record here. It's just a measure to keep the nutters away.

Indeed mate, you're right. What about you, can you make it ?

I hadn't planned on racing the endurance because I can't really devote much prep time to it this coming week. I can put myself down as a place holder for you if you like in case you don't get registered in time?

That's a shame, but can see how it's not worth the effort needed to organise these events when the interest is so low. I was looking forward to getting in the way of the cobras as they were lapping me too  Cheesy

Hope to join both THR series, if I can get on the grid and if my CPU doesn't melt. Just a reminder, if you've not already raced in 3 non championship events, for example those held on Saturdays or Wednesdays, I believe you'll need to contact admin at THR to be allowed entry to the championship races held on Sundays. I think you also need to pre-qualify midweek on the quali server and set a minimum number of laps.
12  UKAC / UKAC Races / Re: UKAC Season 18 - FUN - Serres - Dec 21 on: January 07, 2023, 02:35:26 PM +0000
Well, THR is well run and the racing there seems very competetive but fair from the few races I've experienced and they certainly run some great content and have busy grids. They are shortly running their annual 4 hour endurance with driver swaps where they encourage other leagues to join them and which I'd love to take part in but don't really have the time to commit to at present.

Compared with us, the numbers is all that is missing so yeah, don't know why that is or what we can do about it  Undecided

As we don't run anything here on weekends I'll be taking part in the two THR series which begin towards the end of this month which is 90's NASCAR and 70's GP featuring the RSS car. They do also run on a Wednesday evening but that seems to be fun/test races trying out content for future series.

THR have a section in their discord where other leagues can promote their events but they seem to be mainly rF2 so not sure if they'd welcome us promoting our AC events on Wednesdays as it would clash. Maybe worth approaching the admin?

Thanks for taking up the suggestion for the Alfa Tim  Cool  I was not looking forward to Cobras and hope we have a few more in the Alfas as it will spice things up for everyone imo.
