Quite so, Bernie.  A player's two worst scores will be discarded.  That said, I wonder why one each of the worst scores in the 2L and 3L divisions weren't nominated instead a blanket two scores?  As it is, one might use two 2L or two 3L finishes to drop.  Just sayin...
812  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) Historic Trophy (66) - Mosport - Jun 30 on: June 30, 2015, 02:37:03 PM +0100
You're confused, Tristan?  Make that two of us.  I never really have gotten my head around exactly what is meant by the 30 point differential.  I just show up and drive.  I've been running the Eagle(Group 1)for the nominated races even though I haven't been obliged to do so.  Will do again for this race.

Yikes!  Sorry to learn that you'll be MIA for a bit, Bernie, but am at least pleased to learn that you'll be fit for duty soon.  Take care, buddy.
814  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) 69 Extra Trophy - Mosport - Jun 28 on: June 29, 2015, 03:11:01 PM +0100
You know, if I had the time...and inclination...to respond to these slings and arrows, I'd tear up a few members here.

Suffice to say that in each and every incident that I was involved in, I was NOT the instigator.  OPEN YOUR EYES!
815  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) 69 Extra Trophy - Mosport - Jun 28 on: June 28, 2015, 10:06:38 PM +0100
What a dismal result!  Sad

Apologies to a number of members for assorted knerfs.  Greg, Dean and a couple of others, too.

I'm not too keen on this series and have been larking about a bit.  The car restriction and reset aren't my cup of tea.  I'll be standing down for the balance of the season.
816  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) Professionals Trophy (65) - Monza - Jun 23 on: June 23, 2015, 10:08:13 PM +0100
Well...  You can put the blame for that squarely on my shoulders, Dean.  Profuse apologies to you and all involved.

Two massive blunders can be chalked up to me.

First, I went to the line with qualifying fuel.  Huh  Don't know how I could have made this mistake as I calculated my race load(19usg)and was sure I saved it to the setup name I intended to use.  Sigh...  For some reason, it just didn't take.  Perhaps that goes a long way to explaining my blistering start and early laps pace.

Second, after splitting Robert and Tris on the run into the Parabolique, I stayed well to the right on the exit.  I scanned over with my 'look left' button to see where RF was on the run down pit straight and we were level pegging.  As we neared the turnoff for the banking, I breathed the throttle just ever so slightly to prepare to cut left and move over in behind him.  I hadn't counted on Tris rocketing up at a great rate of knots and diving to the left at just the exact instant as I started the same.  Tris cuffed my LF tyre and...

All my fault and I'm humbled...  Sad
817  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: JOE SHAW MEMORIAL TROPHY on: June 21, 2015, 11:26:36 AM +0100
I caught notice on our calendar of events that today would have been Beefpie's 23rd birthday.

Raise a glass to our young friend lost to us far, far too soon.  We miss you, Joe.  RIP.
818  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) Historic Trophy (66) - Le Mans - Jun 16 on: June 18, 2015, 12:25:01 PM +0100
In my post above, I mentioned that I've been around here in the UKGPL since S23(2012).  I'd done a quick search of the GPL season records here at the UKGPL to determine that.  Somehow, that didn't sit well with me.  My feeling was that I'd been kicking around here a lot longer than that.  A more thorough search this morning revealed my suspicions were correct.  My debut here in this great league was WAY BACK in S17, 2009.  Evidently, it's all been a blur since then.   Wink
819  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) Historic Trophy (66) - Le Mans - Jun 16 on: June 17, 2015, 09:45:35 PM +0100
Thanks very kindly for the grats, fellas.  Can't lose all the time, I suppose.  Indeed, is it the start of a dynasty?  Hmmm...

(Only if a dynasty be considered as one win.   laugh)

From here on in, I'll just sit at the back at try not to get in anyone's way.
820  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) Historic Trophy (66) - Le Mans - Jun 16 on: June 17, 2015, 01:31:03 PM +0100
I knew that I was in with a chance in this round as the circuit allows even "slowpokes" like me to keep up.  Smiley  As well, misfortune for others is always waiting in the wings to strike.

In one slipstream on the Mulsanne, I saw a cool 203mph briefly.  That's wicked!

The fallers in this round were notable.  Iestyn with a Lap01, T1 biff of the barriers set him back and he never really got a chance to recover.  Later, an engine glitch.  Tristan hardly got warmed up at all before losing his connection.  Rocket was a possible contender but lost the slipstream and then fell off.  It looked like the lead serial had dropped Dean early on but he fought back hard to set the new UKGPL FTD with a blistering time.  A duff engine ended his hopes.  And poor Axel.  Surely, this was his race to lose and by gum, he did.  Quite a shocker.  Even with his off at Indianapolis, it was possible for a charge back but in a cruel stroke, he became high-centred on the berm.  Gross misfortune.

Over the last couple of laps, it was down to dealing with cagey Robert in the BRM P83.  I knew that, overall, RF would use his skills to the ultimate and even if my Ferrari was the superior ride, that wouldn't count in the final result and odds were that he'd gun me down at some critical point.  Going into the Mulsanne hairpin on the final lap, I had to make a decision as to how best to counter his pass attempt on braking.  In previous laps, it was a typical pass by the BRM going in there and I simply yielded.  For that last pass through, I decided to force the issue by staying high and wide and staying in the left lane as we rounded the hairpin.  There was a faint hope that in pinching Robert off and forcing him to pussy-foot through in the right-hand lane, he'd lose momentum and have issues getting the H-16 back up on the cam.  To my amazement, it worked!  Kudos to RF for gauging superbly what exactly was going on and leaving me room.  This would be a maneuver I would only consider with those in which I had the fullest confidence.  Even if I somewhat bungled my effort through the hairpin...and I did..., it was at least as good as Robert's and I just managed to get the needed acceleration to squirt into the lead on the run down to Indianapolis.  This was crucial, of course, as getting into and out of Arnage in the lead would be all important.  Even as we coursed through the esses and approached White House, it was a close thing and the prospect of being passed on the exit to that tricky switchback with the finish line virtually in sight was a distinct possibility however much I may have tried.  I had to have a flawless if not perfect pass through White House.  Made it!  To my shock, as I gassed it on the exit, in my mirrors, I caught a glimpse of the BRM spearing off to the outfield.  Robert had the misfortune to just catch a bit of the grass verge and lose traction.  A quick trip into the barrier ended his fierce challenge.  PHEW!  HOMEFREE!  Smiley

No doubt about it.  Luck was on my side.  I've been running UKGPL events since S23 and this is my first win.  One to savour as it's not likely to be a trend.  Smiley

Grats to Dave for hanging in there for a podium.

As no clarification on the matter of which car classification seems to be forthcoming and we are due to be under starter's orders in just a few hours, I'm having to assume that the lead post is what will prevail.  NOT 3-LITRE MODELS.
822  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 28 (2015) Historic Trophy (66) - Le Mans - Jun 16 on: June 14, 2015, 04:41:01 PM +0100
Huh  Two-litre spec, Paul?  Last race was at Montjuic for the small bores.

Huh  Regular LeMans or the night version?  The latter is in my notes.

No worries either way, frankly...  Just lookin' to get it pinned down.

Keen!  Sounds like you're in for a ripper of time, Coyote!  Have a great time, bud!

Not much to say from here except that it was great to see Andreas back in the wars and going great guns.  Tommie wicked fast in the same Eagle I ran.  How ever does he do it?  I just larked around at the back for fun til the eyeballs caved(much as they did the day before in an oAo race).

Greg...  What are you smokin', bud?  Fab stuff!  Smiley
825  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 15 Fifties Sprints - Grenzlandring - Jun 1 on: June 01, 2015, 09:25:11 PM +0100
NUTS!  Got distracted, lost track of exactly where I was on the circuit and ran wide.  WAMO!  That hurt.
