I'm not sure which Ferrari 375 it was but one of them sporting a riding mechanic/navigator gave me a start at one point. In passing me, the navvie flipped me the bird. Clive & Hayman... Dear me... Such sad ends to your efforts. Thanks for posting the details. Both of you were really hosed of a good result. BTW, special mention to B2 who was really sharp in letting lappers through with a minimum of muss and fuss. TY, bud.

Congrats to Bill on a fine victory! My, but that Aston cooks along. Great run by Fla$h to score a well-earned P2. A bit lucky here in nabbing a podium as so many were well in the hunt but by and large, fell to misfortune. Poor Evil... I'd say that he had the race in the bag but trouble entering pit lane cost him a bunch of time and his 375 received significant damage. I suppose that if Clive didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any at all. What was that Mario Andretti said of Chris Amon? 'If Chris went into the undertaker business, people would stop dieing.' I really enjoyed the Ferrari Testa Rosa as it handled well and even if down a little in the top end, I had compensation in reveling in the glorious engine note. During the race, I had excellent duels with Matt, Erling and hayman. For many a lap, we three circulated in close formation til the pit stop routines juggled the order. I gassed up only...no tyres...and the last laps were a bit fraught with tension as I could feel the grip fading quickly. Erling was closing in fast from P4 but ran a couple of laps short otherwise... CYA next in the sunny Bahamas.

My word! What a superb drive from Tim! Congrats, man! You really had the package today. Good car + determination + monster cahones. A good P2 for Iestyn but being a bit stingy on fuel cost him a chance for the victory. Good drive notwithstanding. And Evil! Woohoo! A splendid P3 finish and podium in the little BT7. Great job. I only practiced briefly pre-race and got the P261 into good enough shape for the race. Not tops by any means...my PB's in other GP65 cars are substantially faster...but it was OK. I shan't comment on the Lap01 fracau exiting Ste. Devote as the moderators will have to make a ruling on the cause but the effect was sad in that Axel was an instant DNF. It was a big surprise to find Robert next to stopped coming off Portier on Lap01 and I slipped by for position but that set the stage for a very enjoyable race for the next two dozen laps. Along the way, I came across Arf facing traffic exiting Portier and he would shortly retire with an off in Tabac. Rocket Ronnie, too, game to grief with a couple of wall-bangers that saw a wheel running down the hill towards Mirabeau. I came across this shortly thereafter and jigged to miss it. Forgot completely that at that stage, it's just a image without collision properties. Robert's recovery from his spin was rapid and soon, he was directly on my tailpipes. For the next 24 laps, I held off his advances and it was really keen. Recall the GP of Monaco some years back when David Coulthard was pinned behind a much slower Arrows car for the longest time. Deja vu all over again. Ultimately, he feinted to the left and out of my mirrors on the exit of the chicane and I felt obliged to leave some room at Tabac. I had a somewhat compromised pass through and exit from Tabac as a result of that and he gunned me down on the straight following with the run to Gas Works hairpin. Hmmm... Not the most kosher of tactics there, RF, in taking advantage of the lack of peripheral vision in GPL. Still... A pass is a pass is a pass, I guess. Spent the remainder of the race just chasing Robert home as he zeroed in on Clive but time ran out.

Hehe... Good one, Martin.
My troubles with Zandvoort are many. It seems that I can go out for a qualifying run with, say, 4-5 laps worth of fuel and start to get the hammer down straight away. The first couple of flyers are out there in Nowheresville. Then, on the last or 2nd last lap, I'll carve all manner of time out of the previous markers...and I mean by a full second or more...but with not the slightest idea why. They all felt the same to me.
Additionally, I find it really tiring what with all the switchbacks and near-constant sawing away on the steering wheel. For me, this is just a points run.

Grats on a good win, Robert! The end of your misfortunes? Could be... Good run by Bob who, for once, wasn't pounded off the road by yours truly. And Izzy scores a podium thanks to Greg checking up at the line. My, my, Iestyn... That was so unfortunate. But for a couple of litres of petrol, eh? After blowing up my P115, I watched the race with great interest from assorted viewpoints and for the last two laps, rode along with you. I was noting that you were changing-up very early and sparing the revolutions. It then dawned me, 'Good Lord! He's running out of fuel!' Soon, the tacho needle started to flutter and the engine began to splutter. That was an agonizing last two laps to ride onboard with you. Hard luck hardly describes it. Great run by Greg in the Honda. I ran this car here at Stardust late last year and couldn't bust into the 35's. Here you go and score mid-33's. I doff my hat, sir. I like Stardust but in the limited events I've run here, didn't do very well. Definitely lacking speed. With that prospect in mind, it wasn't a hard choice to opt for the BRM again. I was surprised at how well it ran and handled in qualifying so was buoyed for the start. That went well and I ultimately hooked up in a nifty train of cars comprising Arf, Evil, Rocket and Sam. That was really keen and the pleasure with running well in such good company helped assuage my bruised ego when the BRM engine failed. I was pleased, too, to net a new PB in the low 36's and at least score some minor points. Zandvoort next and I really suck there. Looks like the BRM again... Erling... I saw your car parked for many a lap on the rise up the back straight. Had me scratching my head. Very relieved to learn that you are now well again. Fun race for me despite an early pile-driver incident in the New World hairpin. Gotta love those British six-lungers!
