Last evening, I ran off a few familiarization laps. The 1974 variant is the short course cutting through the park and is of a sort that will reward better handling over brute power. I, therefore, will lean heavily towards the 'vette or Cobra.

Lovely rendition of the old GPL-like circuit. My lap times and those posted by others have me scratching my head, tho. How can these cars go so fast? I mean, my PB's in assorted F1 GPL classes are hardly any faster? Mystified...

One could always use the format from the F2 races of 1967...
Graded = Hotshots; F1 drivers stepping down into F2.
Ungraded = Hopefuls; aspiring up and comers.
In those F2 races, graded drivers competed side-by-side with ungraded runners but were not eligible for the F2 title. That doesn't hold for our servers as each is a title championship of its own accord but it might help distinguish the two levels.

I had no real problems with frame rate counts. I think that lowest value I saw was 34fps going by the pits on a flyer. The start presented no stutters or major dips as we left the line and headed into Eau Rouge.
Fun ripping around the Belgian countryside in this superb rendering but my, there seemed to be a mindset of this being a one-lap sprint. I was witness to a lot of what might charitably be called 'aggressive' driving. Could have been billed as the UKGPL/UFC Porsche Smack-Down.

Thanks to Axel for holding my hand through this. I really appreciate all the tips and leads. And I did finally view that post from Stefan Roess. I have it saved to my HD for reference. However, Robert has chipped in with his remarks saying that the v1 variant seems to be the only way to get everyone on the server. Somewhat relieved, in a sense, to learn that Bob, too, was having troubles with the v2newmod. I was beginning to think I was a loner in this! Once successfully joining the server and starting the race, most everything went well. From the final grid slot(P9), I had about 36fps while waiting for the green flag. Dashing by the pits on a flyer, I saw about 45fps. Out in the countryside, nominally 60fps. As a test, I consider that it went well from my side.

Hi, Fran. Thanks for that post.
My reference to the 'colour' of the roadway is just how it's graphically rendered in either GPLRA or the track building programme, GPLTrk. I understand that surface #1 is tarmac(normal grip; shown as dark grey); surface #2 is concrete(less so; shown as light grey).
Could you confirm or dismiss my belief that there are traces inside the track/roadway boundaries and that they have been set to generate what Axel refers to as the 'tramway' effect? Thanks, again.

Hi, Axel... This morning, I nosed around SRMZ looking for tips on the 60fps thingie and, in particular, your reference to activating the patch from Stefan Roess. Didn't find anything specific on that but I did come across a post from a fella who said that some trying to join a server with the GP66 mod had to use the 60fpsv1 file instead of the v2newmod variant. I tried this offline et voila!, it worked. I'll be looking to try it this afternoon on the UK server. Fingers X'd!
