Such a track is a high demanding one in terms of concentration!
I started to lack of it on the last minutes of practice then I completely lost myself after few laps of the race and I quit.
Fun thing: I set the same time (my PB) during practice with few gallons on the tank and on the few laps I raced with full tank!

Note to Fabio & Cubbie - noticed you are regularly using the Protos in this series - which is just 10 token spend. The Lola BMW has the same tokens and behaves itself, unlike a wooden roller skate with an engine strapped to it. The Protos is undoubtedly fast (check Axel Cookie times at Spa67) but it seems to be the the most unstable in the F2.

Thx for the hint Dave.
I tried (gear up is set Tn+ and gear down Tn-) but it doesn't work: probably when you set a H-Shifter with GPLShift the sequential shifter is disabled.
Anyway, I don't want to play too much with the shifter setting, as all the gears are working as it should for all cars, BRM included.
I can live without the reverse gear: I must stay on track on the right direction! Grin

As I finished on last position with the slowest PB of the race I'll not enter the discussion about cutting the chicane but I'll probably did it when I set my PB in the qualify. Grin
I'm really not able to explain why my PB in race was nearly 2" slower than the one in qualify.
Anyway, at the beginning of the race, after a good start, I was hit by a white car and I spun. Then I had to wait for all the drivers to rejoin the track on last position.
I had some fun when I was chased for some laps by Francesco that I passed after he spun too.
Nothing more to say: maybe I should try another and quicker car for next race.

I was kicked off twice in few minutes from UKGPL07 while training.
As it happened during last race in Bulawayo too I'm thinking my F2 mod installation has some issue...

Bad luck for me.
On qualify I had troubles each time I was in a good lap.
During race I was in 5th place, thanks to other drivers mistakes and/or crashes, then I made a small mistake but I finished against the metal grid and I wasn't able to re-join the race, as since last summer I'm not more able to set a working reverse gear on my H-shifter.
See you in Imola then.

Congrats on a fine win Rog!

For the first 20 laps, I don't think you were more than about 150 behind.
I had a couple of minor scruffy moments which probably brought your overtake forward,  but you were closing anyway & would have got me.

I finally sorted it out!
I realized that the NVIDIA profile for the 67F2 exe file was slighlty different from the one for the 67F1 one.
Putting triple buffering on and maximum pre-rendered frames to 1 solved the issue.
Maybe you should check it out too Dave

Thx for the hints Dave.

I tried but it doesn't not solve such an issue: some laps are better then other ones but suddendly the FPS are dropping again.

I guess it's related to the F2 carset (I got the original one), as I tried some laps with the F1 carset and I didn't experience tha same issue at all.

Then I downloaded the F2 carset Phil uploaed here few weeks ago and it's working better than my former one, without the need to reduce the details.
Better means only that the issue is now happening less often than before.

Unfortunately a lite version of the F2 carset doesn't exist.

Is someone experiencing big FPS drop in Bulawayo?!?
Tonight I'm just trying it for the first time with the Protos and I had few FPS on some track sections, especially from the exit of the last corner to the finish line...

a few days ago I received a new steering wheel -G29- and I'm getting used to it.

Same problem for me.

I haven't been able to adjust the damn steering wheel correctly yet.
I started very far on the grid, and in front, the Honda had difficulty starting at the start, usually I stay behind, but there, I told myself that I could pass, which I managed to do, but as soon as I overtook, my car got in the way, and you couldn't avoid me, lupo
I am really sorry.
I'm so angry with myself that I preferred to stop the race, seeing your Honda destroyed.

Don't worry Philippe,
the only complaint is that I cannot test the behaviour in the race on the fat bottome Honda: I just shaved my PB with it during qualify.

What I didn't count on was the guy behind me --- RogUK? --- who was also in a Matra like mine and was just 0.04 behind me. I figured he'd had a lucky lap and I'd lose him after the hairpin at the bottom of the hill. I didn't lose him. We crossed the S/F for the first time. He was one second behind me. Matt, Dave, and David were walking away from me and this . . . this guy was still there. Lap 2. One second behind. Lap 3. The same. And this went for the following laps, with RogUK never more than one second behind me: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21. On the last lap I was down to little more than fumes in the tank, so I figured I'd distance myself from this leech and set a PB in the process. I did not. He managed to close the gap at the end to 14/100ths of a second.

I bought GPL the week it came out in October 1995. In all those years I have never had a race with anyone as close as this one was.

[Erratum: I just looked at the replay. It wasn't RogUK but Fabio behind me in the first two laps. I blame the error in my original post on the three bottles of wine I consumed in the first ten minutes after the event.]

Had a poor start Fabio shot in front of me dropping me down one place, lap 3 he made a mistake going down to the hairpin letting me back to 5th, then i had Pepe ahead in 4th, the start of 18 laps of close racing, i found the only way to pass Pepe was to slip stream him going up to Scierie and out break him at the turn but try as hard as i could my car did not have that little bit of extra power to get beside him and he still out breaked me at the turn. Thanks Pepe for some great racing.

After my mistake I found myself at the back of all racers and I tried to recover some positions.
Well, everybody was racing so fast!!
Anyway, I really enjoyed a race on my own and at least I wasn't lapped: I finished in the 8th place only because of Roo's and Billy's mistakes, sorry guys.

See you in South Africa, totally unknown track then it will probably be a different story... Undecided

Started at the back to avoid the inevitable  (or so I thought ) 1st lap pile up , which took place as forcast at T3 .

My race ended after Fabio decided it was a good idea to re join the race just as I was approaching the corner , after he had TBoned me I found myself in the sticky straw bales with a screen freeze . Roll Eyes


 


I'm really sorry Bernie, I misjudged your distance and speed...  Embarrassed
I practiced a lot for such a race and I set my PB in qualify: unfortunately I made a couple of silly mistakes on the few laps I raced
