16  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-65 @ Hockenheim GP - 2nd November on: November 03, 2006, 12:33:05 PM +0000
I love the GTC65 class -> I find it much better than the TC65 and about as good as the GTC76. Track was not so hot, but IMO still good enough to have a good race.
As said I didnt have any net acces yesterday, otherwise I would be there.
I think that people like GTR2 more as it is easier to get fammiliar with and feels a lot quicker. I find it more simple to drive than GTL - it is easier to get some quick laps in and there is less accurate throtle controll needed which I guess attracts people as it makes for a closer field and makes people concentrate more on the racing itself than just keeping the car on the road.
I do like GTR2, but I find wrestling with a Pantera, Escort or a Cobra far more appealing.
What GTL would need though would be a bit more accurate turn in simmilar to GTR2 -> that would make it brilliant.
Cant wait for Race with the WTCC 87 Cool

My ISP was down yesterday - really annoyed to have missed this race as I would have raced in my favourite car - the Cobra Sad

The league just got a bit better Grin. Bye Bye, zwaai zwaai

Top oppinion there - very nice to write things like these - especially as you countless times complained about the rolling starts... - pure class Roll Eyes
Sorry for the off toppic, but things like these do tend to tick me off a bit.

Great, superb race. I loved every minute of it. Very close front battles - it was exactly what the TC65 races are all about.
In qually I did very well - but LeH got a great lap in just second before next session. So I started second - than in the race I went into p1, droped back to p2, attacked again and droped down to p3. After a few laps I was able to get back into second place and make a safe gap on Baracus. I than started my attack - started doing some seriously fast laptimes - getting down into 2:11.6 (0.2 better than my qually time) in the proces. Right at the end of the race I cought up with LeH and immidiatly started an attack at the hairpin - I wasnt able to pass at first, but I made sure that I was close behind going into the last lap. I was able to get alongside LeH and make a clean pass into the hairpin. After that pass he wasnt able to repass me - I have been quicker in the midd section all trough the race and got enough of a gap to have a not too tense run to the line.
Well done everybody - I think that this was the first UKGTL race where there was no lapping and the pace at the front was very quick.  Smiley

Every season is great and there are so many brilliant races. This one was one of the great ones, but IMO not the best of the season.
However the Elias pass from third into first position into T1 was something utterly amazing - what a fantastic move Cool
Shame about Hayden - I would really love to see him win the championship, but realisticly - he almost certanly wont win it now.
21  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-76 @ Zolder - 12th October on: October 12, 2006, 10:15:30 PM +0100
Well why not take a slower car - it is a doublesided sword really. This time I could have gone with the Beemer and would have easly still be on the winning pace, but taht was here. A few races ago taking a lesser car ment you had no chances of having a good fight for the lead. So immidiatly it was a game of which car the other fast guy was taking and what he can do with it. Most tracks that ment we all were on the same machinery - even if it might not have been the absolute fastest choice. As far as taking alway the fastest car goes - nonsence. I have many times take a slower car. Possibly I still got fastest lap, but with something else I could have been even faster. Last weeks race for instance - Healey wasnt the fastest choice - that was the Alpine. Or A few races back at Nurburgring - again Elan was the fastest choice, but I took the Daytona. Same goes for many other tracks - this might sound wrong, but I alway try and have a good race with the fastest of the other guys as those battles are much more intense. This race was quite booring because I was a bit too quick and Ruskus was a bit to slow. It could have well been a real monster of a race if we would have been close together on times as than tirewear and car preservation would come into play and we would have gone nose to tail as we did many many times before
22  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-76 @ Zolder - 12th October on: October 12, 2006, 09:56:26 PM +0100
I was very thrilled about finaly geting into the 44's with the Escort - a shame the lap didnt get ssaved. What suprised me though was the difference of pace to the field - I knew that I was quick here, but not by so much. So I was in for a boring race with lots of engine conservation.
I was able to get away cleanly after the start and got a good lead after a few laps and started driving very easily to keet the car alive. All was going fine until I cought up with a backmarker and I misjudged the situatuin and almost ran into the back of him - luckily I was just able to avoid contact, but didnt have the needed steering lock to keep from spinning (I had only 30,5 degrees in the setup). I was able to rejoin quickly though and passed him a few corners later on. The next and last interesting occurance was when I again got in trouble wih a backmarker at the end of the race. He appologised afterwards as there were no blue flags and he thought I was fighting him for position. But it wasnt much of a problem - I should have gone about the pass easyer anyway as I had a big lead and there was no need to pass immidiatly.
All in all a booring race on one of my favourite track/car combinations.
I hope you will still do a race or two Ruskus - otherwise it could get quite booring and that goes for the Comet leauge as well.
Seems like I have to get me GTL2 to get back the raceing thrills GTL used to have, or maybe wait for that Race game (WTCC) or whatever it will be called.
I cant really get into GT racing - I am much more into touring cars and historic cars.

BTW: My Escort finnaly lasted a full race distance  Grin
23  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-76 @ Istanbul - 21st September on: September 22, 2006, 12:17:23 AM +0100
Agree with you Radius - why I wrote is that I saw that situation and couldnt quite understand why. How can a win in a Falcon be worth less than a third in an Alpine - Falcon being on level with Alfa in that race as the best car and the A110 being the best choice in that race. I have thought a bit and saw that my first assumption as false and that the best car of the classes get the same point, but in a race where the best cars of the class are allowed you can get less points for the win that in a race where the slower cars in the class are fielded although you take the fastest of the choices.
Kinda sorry that I started the toppic - dosent really matter anyhow. It just bothers my mathematical side to see inconsistensy like that.
24  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-76 @ Istanbul - 21st September on: September 21, 2006, 11:58:21 PM +0100
Just had a look at the Points table and was quite suprised to see I was down to P2 even though I have better results than Ruskus (# of wins and podiums). I dont want to complain at all as I know that the points get calculated based on the car choice. I am suprised though as I was mostly in the same car as Ruskus. I noticed that the scores are calculated based on the absolute car rating and not on the relative car rating within it's class. In my oppinion that is a false way of calculating things - I reckon that a win should be worth the same ammount than a win if the first win was driven with the best car of class GTC76 and the second win was driven with the best car of TC65. As it is now the TC65 get more points be default which is not correct in any book. I guess this way you can allow mixed field races, but I think that the problem of calculating points for a car outside that fied could be solved othervise.
Why not give the best car within the class the same rating as the best car from another class. That way it would make more sence - at least to me, especially as the bigger cars are usually much more difficult to bring trough the race.
Sorry for the OT - I just have noticed this and thought it was worth to mention.
25  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-76 @ Istanbul - 21st September on: September 21, 2006, 10:20:48 PM +0100
Good race - much unexpected that I was preety much up to speed although never even see this track till about 45 min before practise started so I was very much devestated when I saw LeH do a 2:07.9 straight away in qually and barely managed a mid 2:09 just minutes before in singleplayer. So I was in for a steep learning curve of the track which I managed after a few laps - was even 0,5 sec up on the first split in one of the laps. Certanly now I could do much better in qually.
Anyhow - race was good - lost some ground at the start and than started catching. When Ruskus went for the pass on LeH I was right there and next lap I was able to pass leh into the last corner - we were side by side trough the last section. Than I started to push and trying to cathc Ruskus - did nothing for about two laps and than got into my groove and drove some fast laps to cut the gap a bit. After Ruskus went wide I got into the lead and was able to controll the gap - I was pushing just enough to not kill my tires as I knew Ruskus had to push more to catch up and would kill his tires before I would mine. That was also what happened at the end - last few laps I was able to take less risks and drove home a very welcome win.
However - grats to LeH on the great qually lap - last minute attack which resulted in a great lap. I tried to do the same but I seemengly punctured my right rear on the out lap as I was having huge slides at low speeds into lefthanders
26  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-65 @ Nurburgring GP - 14th September on: September 14, 2006, 09:47:00 PM +0100
Good race - it was a race of almosts for me.
Firstly I almost got pol position, but wasnt to be. I couldnt combine one good lap although I lost 0,6 sec on one split on my best time - on best splits I would get into the 2:18's
Than I made a bad start to the race when I got passed and couldnt repas quickly enough so Ruskus could get some gap. After I finnaly was able to pass I didnt really get into my stride at first, but than I started to put down some very quick laps and was starting to catch Ruskus. Three laps from the end I was right behind him and ready to start my attack, but than I lost it into the fast uphil S and almost had a crash - even got onto the gravel. Again one of the stupid mistakes I have been doing recently - I wanted too much and than lost control so strangly - I normaly would have cought that slide no problem whatsoever, but not this time. Than there was not enough time to catch up again so I settled for second. I am quite happy to have gone with the Daytona - it was again V8 fun. Got the fastest race lap though which is good.  Smiley
But I dont like the track as it is terrible on the FPS and I was struggeling in some corners.
27  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - TC-65 @ Anderstorp North - 7th September on: September 07, 2006, 09:47:19 PM +0100
First off sorry to James for the nudge on lap 1 - not intentional and totaly my fault, should have kept more down, but I stepped onto the throtle and that got me wide. Second stupid error in a long string of stupidity.
First error - I wasnt able to turn the bloddy pit limmiter off, second one the nuidge and than I jost lost all abillity to drive properly and after going wide for a number of times I just lost it and left the game.
I havent had the right feel for GTL since a while now and I cant get close to the long term pace I was able to do before - been happening like this from the Comet Suzuka race and going downhill. Hopefully this streak ends soon and I can have fun in the cars again - today was a nightmare.
Maybe I just need a longer brake from GTL Undecided
Grats to Leh, Ruskus and Minton

Not everything looks right in the Ladder - there are events missing in the overall results (Zolder and anotherone I think).
29  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - GTC-65 @ Mondello Intermediate - 24th August on: August 24, 2006, 10:01:26 PM +0100
Good race - qually was dreadfull for me as I simply couldnt get together a proper lap. At one point I was 0.6 sec up in the last split going for a 29.6, but I got lag in that corner and went wide enough to get a cut track. Well I started fourth on the grid and after a few laps I managed to get into second position and was trying to catch Ruskus with little succes. After the lapping started I started to loose ground and I should have settled for second, but I tried pushing after I saw Ruskus got held up in traffic. On doing that I went wide in the worst possible corner and lost ages - and slid back to third position where I stayed. My worst result in a race that I finnished in the Ladder - not really happy with it as I could have done better (the speed was there). Anyhow - lets bring on some real cars and not plastic French toys  Grin
30  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Ladder - TC-65 @ Hockenheim National - 17th August on: August 17, 2006, 10:30:08 PM +0100
Really a tough race - qualified in third for a change and was almost droped on the start of the race(great stuff Ruskus and LeH). Than after a few laps I started catching up and was soon behind LeH. Than battles for positions started LeH got infront of Ruskus at one point, but than lost out when we cought up a lapper. Ruskus got a bit of a lead at that point and I was having a battle with LeH and than managed to pass him in the last corner when he went wide (and spun). Than the chase after Ruskus started and it lasted some time it seemed like I wasnt going to do it, but than I started to catch up.  After some laps I was able to pass him when he went wide.  Than we started catching up some lapper(forgot the name sorry) and we cought him up into T1. It was a very strange situation as he slowed quite a lot in the corner and I wasnt able to compensate anymore so we crashed - really sorry about that. Than the car was a bit slower trough the righthanders, but was still enough to keep a good enough pace to keep infront of Ruskus.
Really happy with the result - BigG coming in sixth as well to give some extra points for the team  Cool
