Once its playable and a big improvement over the pad i might go for it.
I might work on that mod that lets you use G25 pedals but id rather not if i could get away with the MS pedals.
Thanks again.

MR BMW would you recomend the microsoft wheel?
I cant bring myself to pay for the Fanatec but am tempted to get the MS wheel.
3  SimRacing In General / Other racing sims / Re: Forza 3 - Insidesimracing's highest ranked game ever on: November 07, 2009, 12:30:44 AM +0000
The more i play this the more im impressed.
So much so im gonna buy the fanatec wheel just for it.
This is a sim for sure, make no mistake about it.
Id rate its physics ahead of anything else on pc with the exception of iracing but its not far behind and a hell of a lot more fun imo and ofcourse it looks better than most titles on pc only beaten in this department by NFS shift i feel.
4  SimRacing In General / Other racing sims / Re: Forza 3 - Insidesimracing's highest ranked game ever on: October 30, 2009, 11:10:32 AM +0000
I got this the other day, decided to grab it while i was getting a second 360 elite so i can play online with my son Smiley

As a veteran simracer i just have to say Forza 3 is a full on proper sim, im having a blast with it and im only playing with a pad.
Ill probaly grab a compatible wheel soon its that good.
The SRT review is spot on, this is an outstanding sim in every respect.
5  SimRacing In General / Other racing sims / Re: Need for Speed Shift on: October 22, 2009, 10:19:31 AM +0100
Why can't they make a game that's just good out the box? Huh
I'm really not interested in downloading a hundred fixes, your then not playing the game at all Sad

Agree about out of the box but all you need is real mod and migf1s setting.
Thats one mod and someone elses wheel settings, hardly a hundred fixes Smiley

Can you provide the right download link and (if any needed) install instructions, Damien? Smiley

Here you go mate.
First you need unpack the game, heres detailed instructions it takes about 30 mins http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166542

Real mod and ai overhaul can be found in their respective threads here http://forum.racedepartment.com/need-for-speed-shift-mods/    [also many more mods in racedepartments download section]

Now for the G25 profile go to post #137 on this page http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164378&page=6  for MigF1s settings.

Hope this helps you guys.

Its far from terrible when used with mods.
Have you played the full game tih real mod and a proper wheel profile?

Just dont blame me if you dislike it mate Smiley
Checkout other opinions on these forums if you havent already done so.

For me its good fun as im not into full on serious simracing at all these days.
iracing got too serious for my liking and to some extent turned me off full on simracing.

Cor you guys don't half make it difficult for a chap to decide....can't you all just agree for me!? Smiley

I can't believe the physics are more realistic than GTR2, I hope you're right I really do but in any case, it's a bold enough statement that I'm now curious about this one!

Going to have to get that demo on the go...just the real mod and MigF1 profile needed then Damien?

Im not sure if the mods work with the demo but yes all you need is real mod 2.0b and MiG F1s profile [its on no grip forums]
For mods to work you have to unpack the game in full hence why im not sure how modding works with the demo.

RE: GTR2 , gtr2 is an old physics engine at this stage.
Dont be surprised to hear shifts are improved, after all ian bell of GTR fame along with Doug Arnao of GPL fame are responsible for the physics.
Its not just my opinion but also of those on race department.com,no grip and rsc forums BUT you do need real mod etc for the full experience.

Im using a few other mods too, no bling mod that gets rid of flying balloons and other bling trackside visuals.
Im also using the AI overhaul mod, makes a massive difference to ai.
10  SimRacing In General / Other racing sims / Re: Need for Speed Shift on: October 21, 2009, 02:01:18 PM +0100
Has anyone tried the Real Mod 2.0 for Shift? It supposedely fixes the handling so it feels like driving a car rather than the bizarre concoction they have created as standard.

Yeah im using the latest version of real mod along with MigF1s G25 profile and the results are a superb racing experience.
The physics are a hell of a lot better than GTR2,rfactor and fall short of iracing imo.
With the mods i mentioned above theres no more silly moments of "wtf why did it oversteer so agressively then?"
Im having fun with it and thats all that matter to me Smiley

My current shift feels so much different to the vanilla shift, its really got to be tried to be believed.

version 9.6, intel quad core Q6600

I have to disagree with Simon saying its very slow on pc and saying its a slide show.
Far from it infact, performance for me is superb, i never drop below 80 fps and im running and ATI 4870 1 gig card, supposedly ati cards suffer?, i dont see this at all.
The visuals are just stunning at max settings, easily better than anything else on pc by some distance.
Im running @ 1920X1200 FSAA X 4, AA X 16 absolutely everything maxed out with silky smooth framerate.
I hate the games menus, physics are not bad at all and actually believeable except for some weird goings on when turning when it feels like the car is spinning on the centre axis.
Its a fun game once you get past the cheesy announcer and other annoyances most of which are removed via mods available once you have unpacked the game [has to be unpacked for mods to work]

Hi guys ,i have cancelled my subs, have a few weeks left to run.

Reasons being

1.
iracing refuse to offer guys like me who are disabled shorter races.
Hell i dont care if they are for fun or whatever,i physically cant race any longer than 20-25 mins.
When i was racing i was running longer than i should and suffering for it afterwards.
I asked on the forums a few times and contacted iracing via email about the matter and they refused to answer my emails.
I purchased all the content and will most likely never get to use it, yes my fault for buying it all but i honestly thought they would offer shorter races in all cars/series.

2.
Because i simply cant race longer races i recently tried some of the the rookie races again and it was like public servers for other sims,it was appalling with wrecks left right and center.

I find im left with no choice but cancel my subs and try find another sim that i can get clean racing that are not marathons for me.

As it is im bored of iracing and simracing in general,i guess i just played too much.

Crashing under heavy load sugests overheating to me Brian.
Dust can cause this so please God your removal of dust might have sorted it for you.
