16  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / Re: Help installing on: July 17, 2009, 09:01:26 PM +0100
Using that installer got the game on the hard drive, but I can't get it to display correctly when I run the game. Corrupted graphics in the menus are so bad I can't see what I'm doing in the menus and it's set to 640x480 despite me manually changing it in the player ini file. Must have tried most rasterisers from the rasteriser selector without success. :'(

Simon:

I recently installed GPL on my system (Vista), and needed to go into the core.ini file to get the game to display properly.  In core.ini locate DirectMirrorRendering = 1
Change the 1 to 0 and see if that helps..

Haha! Another one bites the dust. The back of the Amateurs grid is slowly filling up LOL. Wink

The back of the Novices grid is filling in nicely as well Wink

I have to say that was a blast... while it lasted. Had some great action in qualifying/practice mixing it up with Vos.. In only my 2nd official UKGPL start I managed to put the car 12th on the grid and was determined to do a clean 1st lap. Came off the start fine, even managed to gain a couple positions and on lap 3 was rear-ended into oblivion going into parabolica. Hit shift-r and my screen started the flicker of death. My connection seemed sketchy on and off through practice, with the lap times sometimes showing up as little black boxes?? but I thought I'd make it through the race. Hopefully I'll get my connection issues resolved in time for next season, as I really have enjoyed the short time I've spent here. I'd like to say thanks to everyone here for making me feel welcome in my first few weeks - especially Geoff, Mike, Al, Jack, and last but certainly not least Billy Nobrakes.. After the debacle at Silverstone and now Monza, there's no where to go but up... right??  Grin

I would encourage anybody not in a team to either start one or join one as it makes you a much better person and your driving gets more betterer, so there.

I would love to join a team and become a better person!  Would also like to race the BT11 at Monza as a reserve if there is room.. Would also like to join the novice ranks next season (is there anyone here who better exemplifies the term novice) in whatever chassis is avaliable, preferrably the BT11 as that's what I've been practicing in. Grin

Thanks,
Mark

Has anyone else had trouble with this? The lines along the edge of the track flicker at some points like a strobe. My version is from the GPL all-in-one installer; I looked around for an add-on that might improve it but couldn't find anything. Any ideas appreciated! Thanks, Mark

Count me in, the BT11 if avaliable..

Wow it's a bummer when you're not even at the "novice" level... Huh  Was 4-5 seconds off qualifying pace and spun off twice on the first lap. Took WAY too long to recover from that second spin and realized I might be in danger of being lapped; being a reserve driver I didn't want to pose that kind of hazard to the front-runners so hit shift-r thinking it would put me in the pits for a fresh getaway at the back of the pack, instead I was "retired" hahaha.. Stayed around for a dozen or so laps sitting in various cockpits unable to comprehend how you guys are braking so late and not going off. Guess I just need more practice, I don't know. I'll toss it around Monza for the next couple weeks and maybe try a race again if I can find a consistent and reasonably competitive pace.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi all,

I'm in for the last two races in the BT11 if that works.. Just last night I ran my first sub 1:40 at Silverstone so I'll do my best to stay out of everyone's way Wink I'm a total NOOB to online racing but had a blast sitting in Geoff's Lotus last night, as I was black-flagged during an attempted start from pit lane hahaha...
