1  Everything Else / Chit Chat / Shark spawning alert! on: January 16, 2012, 11:22:58 AM +0000
Quote
Baby sharks (called pups) are born with a full set of teeth and are fully ready to take care of themselves. They quickly swim away, even from their mothers who might eat them. Litter size ranges from one or two pups (for a great white shark) to over 100 (for a large blue shark and the whale shark).

Yes, it certainly sounds like you'll have you're hands (fins?) full!

Congrats Simon.

Your graphics problems are really odd Simon, my PC is getting on a bit now; I only have an ATi 4870 but it runs fine with everything on high except shadows which I had to turn down to medium, that made a HUGE difference. I'm getting 60-100FPS everywhere but Spa which I suspect is a law unto itself at this point.

It's probably worth noting that there's a refund policy in place during the rFactor 2 beta stage so if you don't like it you can always get your money back Smiley

I thought he must have been on slicks there was so little grip in that video, I reckon I was going faster on the skid pan day I did the other week Wink

The open wheelers are ridiculously difficult to drive in the wet.

I was lucky enough to get in early on the beta  Grin

rFactor 2 does a lot of things very well... Lighting transition looks fabulous, set it for 5am and watch the sun come up, it's beautiful. Sounds is great, the reverb from the stands is wonderful. AI is smart, they won't divebomb you like other games.

But.... the core driving experience just isn't as good as iRacing, it isn't as good as C.A.R.S. either which I'd put in 2nd place at the moment. Combine the accuracy of the track with the indefinable "feel" of the  force feedback and rF2 is a bit behind as it stands.

I was really expecting more of a "WOW" factor and it just isn't there for me. The Megane's and the Formula Renault cars just remind me of everything I didn't like about rF1, they just feel disconnected from the track somehow.

The 60's Formula cars are a lot more fun and I'll definitely spend some more time with them.

Overall, it's pretty good but others have raised the bar quite a bit higher in the last few years and rF2 hasn't quite kept up.

Yup, I've been playing all day.

It better be better than that flipping iR   laugh Wink

I think you'll be sadly disappointed, it's not.

The Skip and Star Mazda both attract decent size grids in the official races.

We've raced both of those cars here at SRouk in the past but I'm pretty confident we won't be returning to them any time soon, the preference seems to be for GT racing here.

Club England have weekly hosted Skip Barber races which are pretty decent but not as formal (i.e. moderated) as here..

I trust Google to look after my data more than I trust myself! Cheesy

Same here Fozz.  I just can't break 2:08 despite my optimal now being in the low 2:05's.

w_pienaar, there's set ups posted on the iRacing forum you can try but failing that I'm sure someone will share tonight.

Yeah, it is a frustrating car. I was stuck around 2:11-2:12 for ages yesterday then something just clicked and I was down to 2:08's.

I found watching the fast guys helped.

Pete, move the front ARB to +5.0, that seems to help me get it to turn better. Other setups are using 0 so I'm not entirely sure what's 'correct' tbh.

I've moved the brake bias back a bit so it's a bit more stable, I've taken the wing down a bit for the long straights but I might need to add a bit more back on to make sure I last the 90 mins!

I'm really enjoying the Ford GT, it's pretty frustrating at first but if you treat it right it feels pretty good Cheesy

2:08's for me so far, hopefully there's a second or two to to shave off that but maybe not by tomorrow evening Tongue
