Count me in too please!

As for the Team... I'm undecided, I'll just take the team with the least participants  Grin

My apologies to frex for finishing off his race after my gymnastic exercise on the dune banking in the early stages of the race :'( . Unexpectedly, my 275 GTB landed on its wheels after the multiple body rolls and I waited for frex to rejoin, but I suspect terminal damage had been done to his Elan, I’m sorry pal.

I decided to continue the race as it’s my home circuit and to see if the 275 Speciale could actually finish a race without overheating or eating its tires. Well, it was possible, but without any further dicing it was a lonely race.

Hope to do better next race!

Great race!

With a Q. position of 12th on the grid, I didn’t have high hopes for a good finish. But in the race, my Porsche was quick of the line, gaining some places and I had a nice dice with Goldtop for the first few laps for P6.

Then I made a mistake and left the track but fortunately didn’t damage the car, so could restart (now in 9th position or so).
A lap later Goldtop returned the favour and damaged his Porsche when leaving the track. Further on, I had a nice battle with Doni? I think, in his BMW. The different cars had different advantages at different places of the track  Wink

The last few laps I took it easier as I was now in 5th position and didn’t want to do anything stupid. Evil could easily match the pace, so he unlapped himself in the final few laps. You were quicker than me for sure!

Grats to podium and all finishers, see u next race!  Smiley

My race turned bad when I had to stop early for fuel > for those of you who thought “where did he find that speed?” in the early laps, that’s the answer Wink  Then I made some noob faults:

Noob fault 1: I overshoot my pits
Noob fault 2: speeding in the pits
Noob fault 3: out of fuel after having to take a stop/go penalty  Roll Eyes

Hope I can make a better effort next race…

The difference between TR4 and TR4A in real life is in the suspension. TR4A uses an independent rear suspension (IRS) as opposed to a straight axle on the TR4.

In P&G it’s not modelled in though. As far as I know, all TR4/TR4A/TRS models use the same suspension settings in P&G.

Hope this helps  Wink

Had a last minute call from a friend of mine, reminding me that the race was on in 6 minutes! So made a rush, took the 914 with exact same set-up as Spa from a few weeks ago (even same amount of fuel) and just made it to the start. But then found out my mate wasn’t in (unfortunately he had a connection problem).

So starting from last position, I waited a few seconds before taking off. Glad I did because now I had a terrific view on the rear-ending Elan hitting a sitting Corvette that I could just avoid from the emerging smoke….

I could soon catch-up with Alex and wasn’t that much off the pace with the other cars. After the Pantera/Corvette/Elan clash, I was in 6th position and run a couple of laps on my own before frex hauled me in. The last couple of laps were nerve wrecking, with both cars having some tire trouble. Not the best circuit for overtaking, so I could just stand off the heat and finished in 6th position.

As always, nice battling with you frex  Smiley

Congrats podium, see you next!

Mr. Reali, I hope your laptimes yesterday evening on the server were with a special Qually set-up and not your usual Race set-up. Otherwise the race will not last 40 minutes...  Wink Cheesy

Yes, the start was “strange” and I first thought that the front runners did that on purpose, so that they could regain the complete field again during the race (not the first time I’ve seen an alien doing that Wink)

After the first lap I found myself in 3rd position, just behind Alex in 2nd. But from the Qualy times, I knew that the fast-ones were coming. Also I was very curious to frex´ lap times, as he didn´t complete a lap during Qualy and we were in the same car (Elan).

Than after a couple of laps when everything settled a bit, I was having a great dice with frex. In the end I lost it a bit under pressure and run wide. After that I made another mistake and frex was gone and the nearest car was 25 sec away. So a lonely 2nd part of the race, but joyful non the less.

Congrats podium and all finishers!
9  UKPnG / UKPnG Races / Re: UKPnG Season 9 Limited Car Choice Series - Nürburgring - Jul 3 on: July 04, 2014, 09:20:16 AM +0100
During practice, I felt more comfortable in the smaller GTA 1600 and just wanted to finish this monstrous track… started last (16th) finished 8th without any drama except some door handle battles in the first 2 corners. The start went really well and together with frex (who also started from the back) we could gain a lot of places Cool

It amazed me that the smaller engined cars (1300 and 1600) could keep up with the bigger engined cars so relatively well. The car felt good and apart from some stuttering in the first few corners, I had no connection problems what so ever.

Congrats to the winners and also to all finishers, see you next time  Grin

Did some laps in the TR4 (warning: Triumph fanboy here Wink) and managed some 1:00.7’s and 8’s.

Then switched to Alfa Junior 1300 and without tweaks did some 1:01.1’s, so I bet there’s more to be shaved off.

I’m a bit afraid of the Gr5 Mini’s and Abarths though, I guess a sub 1:00 lap could be possible in the hands of the usual aliens (Italians included Wink)

Would be awesome to see some aliens choosing the Healey, I’m quite interested to see what would happen then!

See you on track!

P.S. I quite like these British tracks, no problem for me to return to the tracks we've run before!

Lap times from last night on the practice server:

Giuseppe Reali: 1:42.0 (Mini 970)
EvilClive: 1:46.? (Cortina GT)
SuperSwift: 1:45.9 (Jag 3.8 MKII)

Had a fun time chasing EvilClive and trying to follow Giuseppe. The cars have very, very different characteristic which makes racing them *interesting*  Wink

See you tomorrow!

Kinda disappointed. Got rear-ended again, on the second lap, then hit escape with one lap to go when I thought the race was over. Had some good close racing in between tho.

Guess that was me Robiker, sorry to mess up your race. Your car seemed to be very stuttering for the first half of the race. I waited for you after the tab and we had a great couple of laps chasing each other and finally overtaking Walter. Thereafter I had my eyes set on Ledgy (also in an Elite) and in the final laps we had a close battle, but my engine died in the last short straight before the final turn and my Elite stopped just before the start/finish line….

Was great to be back after a summer of no online activity, hope to see you next race!

13  UKPnG / UKPnG Races / Re: UKPnG Season 8 British Historic Cup - Thruxton - Jul 18 on: July 16, 2013, 12:02:05 PM +0100
I’ve found some old footage of this track (didn’t it ever change during 30+ years?) with the great late Gerry Marshall driving my favourite car at this very track in the first minute of the film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD8SlqqKocA

Notice the “alternative” racing lines sometimes chosen. The rest of the film too is well worth looking at.

Hope to join you this Thursday, taking the Slotemaker Alfa GTAm.

Me too, had 3 disco's in Qually (so no timed lap). Then had a good start gaining some places and had some nice intermarque battles when I had a last disco at the chicane in Lap 5. Hope I didn't take anyone with me...

See you next one!
15  UKPnG / UKPnG Races / Re: UKPnG Season 8 British Historic Cup - Croft - Apr 25 on: April 26, 2013, 09:43:22 AM +0100
So I wasn’t the only one who started the Q session without training…

The track I knew from a previous NoGrip race organized by Geoffers. As a Triumph fanatic, I had to choose the TR4 off course Wink  I used a set-up (nothing special) from a previous race at Goodwood and hoped for the best. That turned out not too bad, with a 5th grid position.

At the start, due to engines revving etc, I bogged down my engine and had a slow start. But fortunately for me, I wasn’t the only one as I could grab 3th spot and even 2nd before Geoffers took back that position from me. After a couple of laps I had a “moment” and made a nice 360 pirouette just after the first chicane and continued in 6th position, just behind frex’ Ferrari. A nice cat-and-mouse game went on for a couple of laps before I could overtake and grab the 5th position. The second half of the race was a lot less interesting as I didn’t meet other racers, except for Alex who kindly let me pass in the last corner before the finish flag.

Grats to podium and see you next race!
