Lost connection near end of lap1. I was still driving, but all other cars disappeared.

After waiting for the car to appear in the showroom (it doesn't, but the little timer goes away), I click to go to track and CTD. Tried with fresh install with the new GameData folder and does it again with both my #30 and #29. I see that #30 is a 2600GT and the other Capris are 2300GT. Is that ok?

Putting aside the low fps, flickers and missing of emergency messages if chat is off, it is a simple courtesy to wait until the session is complete before chatting. We have all seen the polesitter receiving grats as a banzai lap still on track in the last few seconds beats him.
50  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 37 (2020) 1967 F1 Grand Prix - Monza - Dec 6 on: December 08, 2020, 01:00:55 PM +0000
I just noticed that I can scroll down on below the championship table and find more stuff.

Congratulations to Dave Rainier on becoming Privateer Champion, never finishing lower than 2nd in his 8 scoring races. Very consistent.

Congratulations to Enrique Farina, who is Works Champion. Finishing level on points with Jonny, I think I'm right in saying that he wins because he had 2 poles compared to Jonny's none. I thought that it was separated on number of wins, 2nds, 3rds if scores were level, but no. In the Rules tab in the blue line at the top of this page, third post, it says that if scores are level, then it is decided by number of events entered, followed by best finish, then best qualifying, before looking at how many wins, etc. Enrique did indeed have more wins than Jonny, but it was the poles that made him first!
51  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 37 (2020) 1967 F1 Grand Prix - Monza - Dec 6 on: December 07, 2020, 12:08:51 AM +0000
Grats to Axel on the win and Alain for 2nd coming from the back. After being 1-2 early at the last race, you made it happen this time. Sad to see Jonny an early casualty to stop his record of never finishing lower than 4th all season. Enrique needed 3rd place here to win the championship if Jonny scored no points, but the Lotus and Eagles were too fast here. Interesting to see a pitstop for fuel, but I don't think it helped. Raoni's Honda made it all the way.

I sat at the back with Dave Rainier, the respected GP lantern rouge, to let things happen early on in front. Gradually my position improved without me doing very much and then the race finished. I was very happy to see the chequered flag, because that was my goal at the start of this series and I am the only driver to have seen it in all races (although I might have been a lap or two down when it waved at times). Enrique fell a few laps short only at Solitude. I was very fortunate to be driving the Ferrari throughout. I would never have been in contention if I had to drive the Honda for five races like the rest of the final top 5. I think it is important for drivers to be able to mostly have cars that they are happy to race in, otherwise they won't keep coming back.

Congratulations to Jonny as Series Champion. Very well deserved.

I was pleased to see that the moderation status progress, that had stalled in this and other series, has now been progressed along to "completed" in many cases. Thanks to the admin team.

The last long race of this long season in this long year ...
That UKGPL 67 lap record at the top of this page was actually made at Monza Milano, which is about 3 seconds a lap faster than Monza 10k. I was in that race back in 2005 (along with Clive Loynes of those still active here). You may wonder how a Cooper won that race at such a fast circuit. Well, we were handicapped by pitstops for both chassis and driver skill. So a fast driver in a fast car would have multiple lengthy pitstops and a comparatively slow driver in a slow car may not have to stop at all. It kept the racing interesting to the end.

37 laps here may be interesting to the end too. Does a full fuel tank stretch that far? Maybe.
53  UKAC / UKAC Races / Re: UKAC Season 16 - Zandvoort - Dec 2 on: December 03, 2020, 12:24:50 AM +0000
I sort of enjoyed that. Everything seemed to work ok. I just missed dipping below 1.40 in practice, qualy and the race. I was very wary of other cars at the start - tight grid and didn't know how aggressive the driving might be here. So keen to avoid anything, I forgot to follow the track and went off in lap2, luckily not collecting anyone and ended up nose down in a ditch. I didn't know the etiquette here, but I escaped to the pits, where my controls were frozen for 30 secs. In that time, the field came by and I could set off a lap down. I hope that was ok to do.
I was near Mark on track, but a lap down, so I kept getting blue flags after he spun and I passed him. I let him past and followed for a while until he spun again. All was quiet until Tim came along near the end and lapped me again. Well done on the win, Tim, different class here.
I think if I didn't have my early mishap I would still have finished last of those still running. Time passed very quickly.

Thanks for the advice - I will have the auto blip and clutch turned off.
I have done laps on the server and can see the race password.
See you all tomorrow and I will see how it goes.
55  UKAC / UKAC Races / Re: UKAC Season 16 - Zandvoort - Dec 2 on: December 01, 2020, 06:03:42 PM +0000
Hi Tim, everyone. I acquired AC Ultimate pack for £6 over the weekend. It's all new to me, but this race appeals with the friendly 250GTO and the old Zandy layout from GPL. I have found my way to the server and I hope I can join in tomorrow.

I use paddles and don't have a clutch pedal. I don't know if I should have auto clutch and auto blip on or off. They don't seem to make much difference so far at my level. I see I can hurt the engine downshifting too early with auto clutch off, but the 250GTO seems to take any abusive upshifting or holding the revs very high. I haven't done enough laps yet to see the engine will break like they do in GPL. I have been in Pro with all aids off. I expect the server will force those parameters on me?

I can't see any mirrors in the default cockpit position. I have the virtual mirror on and have installed helicorsa. Is there anything else I need to do?
56  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 37 - End of Season Review on: November 24, 2020, 03:24:01 PM +0000
One thing I really enjoy about UKGPL is the history of statistics and race results going back to 1999 that can be easily accessed.
I continue to be distracted by the status of moderation here. I have no problem with the moderation of incidents or planning of races. Some races from a couple of seasons back are still inviting incidents to be submitted. Some have moved on to moderation pending or moderation underway. I am sure that most of these should be completed as they are not waiting for any new information. Some races reach the moderation completed status very quickly. Some races stay in limbo for months, years.

Click on the name of any regular driver and under Career Statistics there are Championship Results. Below that there are Current Standings for seasons that have long since finished as well as the current ones. This does seem to be a particular problem for UKGPL as the statuses are used in the same way for RRE, UKAC and UKGTL and they move along quickly and leave nothing outstanding. I don't think this status stasis has anything to do with time intensive incident checking as many of the uncompleted races were without incident.

Maybe no one is as bothered as I am to make it look pretty, so please let me help. I'd love to tidy this up.

Above the driver's Career Statistics, there's a list called Championship Registration and Licenses. They go back only to season 30 and I can't work out what this means. Registration happened before season 30 too.

One point I'd like to make about the actual racing is how much I have liked the spaced out grids in the GP races. This really helps to reduce incidents.
57  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 37 (2020) 1967 F1 Grand Prix - Zeltweg - Nov 22 on: November 23, 2020, 03:24:57 PM +0000
I did not expect this race to be as stressful and enjoyable as this. It started at the start when I had an unexpectedly good start and passed Uli and Fulvio before T1. Alain went wide to the barrier in T1 and I was up to P2. He soon repassed me and disappeared up the road with Axel. Unfortunately they didn't see the race to the end. I found myself in the lead with Uli pushing very hard to find a way past. After about an hour he went up the inside in T2, but ran wide so I could cut back under and stay in front. Soon after, again under braking for T2, he cleanly passed around the outside. Brilliant driving. I then had a good run on him at the start line and passed before T1. We had a very lucky incident there where we touched wheels, but were barely affected. In the replay we held our lines, were close, then gradually came closer. I was so glad we were alright. I didn't know what happened at the time and wondered if it was my fault and I should give the place back, but Uli came through again at T2 anyway. Then the race was done. Fulvio was very close behind watching us throughout this. Great driving and I'm glad we made it to the end.
I was very surprised to find that I had the fastest lap as I felt I was holding Uli and Fulvio up. The chassis allocation worked well here as the fastest laps for the 9 fastest drivers were within 0.7 seconds.

Two lowest scores are dropped in the final championship table. With two dropped and one race to go, subject to moderation, the numbers look like this:
Jonny 285
Enrique 283
Uli 281
Andy 278
But with Jonny never finishing worse than 4th all season, we have to do better than 4th to catch him.

I have a possibly unpopular opinion about this race. I was surprised to see two drivers who haven't signed up for this series (or any UKGPL series) allowed to access the server and start the race. We are all for larger grids and I guess they are respectful and innocent drivers from GPL Brasil, but everyone has had to register and be allocated a chassis until now. I hope they register for the next race.

The calendar tab near the top of this page reveals birthdays and ages of those who have admitted them.
Interesting that Tris and Fulvio were born two days apart. Iestyn, Tommie and Joe Shaw, all UKGPL champions, were under 10 when GPL came out.
I'm younger than Enrique and older than Billy, just about in the same positons as our talent.
59  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 37 - End of Season Review on: November 16, 2020, 03:00:57 PM +0000
I'm only interested in the 67 GP series at the moment. I have enjoyed the series very much and I'd like a series with that race length to continue.
As far as I can tell, the refuelling in the pits thing hasn't been used at all. Is there a way that we can have a compulsory pit stop?  Do we handicap drivers by making them wait in the pits?
I think that complicating the rules is bad, but is there a way to improve racing and participation?

I'm not sure whether the issuing of chassis from the moderator god at the start of the season is right. I've done well out of it, but some drivers have been put off by driving difficult cars for long times for little reward. Perhaps if the first race was a free chassis for all, then the top drivers in the table were restricted by chassis for each race. Say, the top two couldn't take Lotus, Eagle, Ferrari or Brabham. Third, fourth and fifth couldn't take Lotus or Eagle. This would require  quick moderation.

None of the 67GP races have been moderated at all. The 67GP races have been very well driven and I don't think that there are many, if any, incidents to review. I guess that no one is going to report an incident more than 2 days after the race. That incident can be resolved by the 7th day and the championship table would be up to date before the next race announcement happens. If there are no reports, then the moderation is done. Therefore, table based chassis handicaps can be posted in the race announcement.

Perhaps there is a lot of unavoidable work behind the scenes to say that moderation is complete even if there are no incidents. I'm happy to help there. I'm happy to count pitstops, check correct chassis and post announcements. I think that the resolving of incidents here at UKGPL is excellent and way beyond my understanding. I'd be banning everyone. But I can do some admin.

One other simple thing ... I have good eyesight and a good monitor, but I find any colour writing on this green background, other than white, is difficult to read.
60  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 37 (2020) 1967 F1 Grand Prix - Mexico City - Nov 8 on: November 11, 2020, 06:21:05 PM +0000
Wise words, Uli and I agree, but for some drivers the GP races are not for them.

Onto Zeltweg, another track with a nasty T1 to endure. The last time I raced there I had the roles reversed from this race. I was in the chasing Cooper close behind a Ferrari that didn't make a mistake (Hello Phil!). https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=12242#event3960

This was similar to an earlier Zeltweg race in the same cars where I was beaten again by Mr. Thornton. https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=11442#event3489

From those expecting to attend the Zeltweg GP race I see that Dave Rainier was in both of those races (from 2013 and 2014) and that Evil, Fulvio, Axel and Phillippe Girard attended one each. I'm glad to note that Phil isn't doing the GP races. Some laptimes there to give some idea of pace.
