I'm also sorry to have missed this. But it could be worse as I'm in Spain .

I'm extremely confident that if I was at home for this race I would definitely have squeezed myself into last place. No problem.

Simples.

thats a shame Albert.

Did you use the correct car ?  I only ask as everytime I connected to the server from Igor, It showed me about to join in the Ferrari 312.. but I had the Brabham showing in Gem as I had been using it to practice offline.

was odd. dont think ive seen that before

Cant say I really enjoy the racing at ovals, but tonight went OK.

took the Gordini as I knew Im no good here. so it saved some tokens for later. target achieved as far as im concerned. strangely I enjoyed it more that usual.

I concentrated a bit harder than usual tonight and gave it my best shot. sorry so many seemed to fall by the wayside. Not due to accidents I dont think as I didnt see much from the back. but the position I got was far more than i expected.

I guess even I deserve a bit of luck sometimes..   Me n Gordini the Gopha  did OK tonight.  Wink

LOL

Hi Billy I noticed you near the end . was catching you,  but ever the gentleman.. I stayed back a bit and followed you over the line.   Cheesy

I owed you that at least.  Smiley

Wow.. the latency issue was dreadful tonight.

I never realised that I had even collided with Matt at all.

I did though realise I took Cubbie out I think. but I felt nothing at all, just was trying to stay away from all the cars that were constantly disappearing then reappearing.

I actually felt a kick in the steering wheel and nobody was there, but almost instantly a car appeared in my mirrors going ass over tits behind me.  that I think was Cubby.

sorry Mate. I had another embarassing isse in the recent 50s race, that was my fault then, this was the same.  If it deserves a penalty so be it.

but how can you tell who is causing the warp problems.  from my cockpit all seemed really stable. track was as solid as a rock at 60fps . my FFB felt good too so did the car.

so is it a Server problem or just a bad connection. wondering if its just one of us or more cars. ??

There are 2 zeltweg 70 tracks. until Cookie posted pictures of his 1970 and 71 tracks I was using the wrong version to practice on.

been a bit confusing. LOL. trying to get a lap or two in before race time tonight. hopefully the setup i have done is still ok. have transfered it over.

when i look in my track list in GLP/tracks or in Gem+ I have the following

Zeltbeta
Zelt67
zeltflug
zelt70
zelt71
zeltweg

no wonder I was confused. mainly because I think i was using zelt70, as you would ??  but I think the track we are using is zeltweg ?  Or not. who cares . LOL.

Fran , you are so correct.  I also wonder why the Connaught or the Vanwall does not have slightly better brakes than the others.

I believe one of them was actually the first Grand Prix car to have Disc Brakes.  I dont think they were as good as anything that came later, but surely far better than the Drum braked cars.

well done pods, that was a nice finish for you too Fran. No engine blow ups this time well done.  Smiley

and to all the finishers. sorry for any one that didnt make it.  Seems a simple track, but not easy at all in the '55s .

Sorry for whoever it was I hit from behind..  just had no brakes at all.. I stayed off the track and let all the cars get going again. ended up joining at the back after a decent 4th on the grid.

Really was taking care and watching my brakes but, I cocked up. bugger. I really dont like spoiling other peoples races.

Had a fun drive tonight..  must not even touch the dirt here. As i found out more than once !!!!

Sorry to Matt or Cubby during early laps. I had spin and was in the middle of the road. i was going to get going again but saw you coming so didnt know where
to go backwards or forwards..  i looked right and saw you.. hoped you might have missed me but we clipped each other. Sorry.

otherwise, proves GPL is great even when not running anywhere near the front.

cheers for organising..

That was a good evening of racing "Fun" tonight.

Thanks for hosting and organising.

You guys are so fast but safe . thanks hope I didnt get in the way too much.  The cars bear down on you pretty fast in Canam.

Evil came past me at least twice, with the new virtual mirrors helping to see behind ,  it was fun watching him coming at me 90 degrees to the track. it was like a dream.. it was like I was racing Big Gerry Marshall. LOL

hopefully you guys know who that is.  regarded as a possible formula One contender, but he would haver fitted in a GP car. he was almost as wide as Dan Gurney was Tall .LOL

Hope you get better soon Billy. I have had the cough thats going around.. been coughing for about a fortnight now.. really annoying.

went well Tonight. nearly made the podium. only really made one mistake, missed a gearshift while under pressure from Eric and let him past. but was thinking during our battle that I was perhaps holding him up, and being the gentleman driver he is he didnt try anything that unsettled me. Thanks it was Fun.  Smiley

had loads of good laps with Pepe too tonight.  Smiley

overall a fun race. The BMW lola isnt the fastest but it handles really well. Nice car to Race. And this Track has a fantastic flow.

A credit to you Francesco. a lovely track.  Fantastic. Thanks  Smiley

15  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 44 (Spring 2024) 1966 CA - Spa67 - Feb 6 on: February 06, 2024, 10:44:23 PM +0000
Didnt like my car much either only 2 gears and someone had left an ikea flat-pack wardrobe strapped to the back.

Quite enjoyed this evening.  had some fun laps. all was going well until I had a spin. dropped me back, but not a problem as everyone else is much faster so would have regained their places anyway.

the start was a bit iffy. I was at the back as usual and had to stop n start a few times as the cars infront were bunching up. Congrats to all the drivers as no one hit anyone else. But i sat there watching the leaders take off up through early part of the circuit like Rabbits with Rockets up their Asses !!

I thought then it was fair too at least try to get onto the back of the cars ahead but backed off when i was doing 120mph plus and not catching up.

when you know your driving with some very fast guys, then being left behind at the start particularly at Spa then I know im in for 14 lonely boring laps.

other than the excellent racing I had with David R, it would have been bloody awful.  Smiley
