Had a bad start when someone was slow off the mark and then I got tagged and turned round. Had a few laps on my own until I caught Larry and we then had a great scrap ... very enjoyable, Sir  Grin

Congrats to the podium guys  Smiley

Hi Bill

I had to do a second pitstop too........................too fast in pitlane at pitout it showed. I think I was too fast after entry pitlane, some car crusing around there, had to do some manouvers, to get my pitboy. maybe there a little over 50km/h.................that´s why I could not grab  P1

greets hayman

Aha ... I wondered what happened to you  Shocked     Thanks for the update  Smiley

Clive put in a stunning quali performance to grab pole so I was quite chuffed to get P2 on the grid since I could not get anywhere near Clive's time. At the race start I got a flyer and grabbed the lead only to run wide at T2 and lose several places   Angry It took several laps to get back in front Cool and then I settled down to maintain the gap to Hayman. At the pitstop I had to do a bit of a shuffle in order to get the pit menu to appear and in the confusion I forgot to take on fuel. I only realised this when I was exiting the pits so another stop was required at the end of the lap  Roll Eyes As I rejoined after the second stop I was very surprised to find myself still in P1 with Bob in P2 ... I was expecting Hayman to be in front ! The final few laps were spent trying to maintain the gap to Bob while avoiding abusing the tyres, fortunately this worked out OK and P1 was mine  Smiley
Congrats to Bob and Hayman for the podium places and thanks to Tony for the series.

9  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 15 Fifties Sprints - AVUS - Jul 6 on: July 06, 2015, 09:38:36 PM +0100
For such an apparently straightforward track Avus turned out to be very tricky indeed. The start of the race was a bit of a lottery with much wheelspin combined with someone having a slow start (not me for a change  Tongue) and I gained a place heading off along the 1st straight. I managed to put my right-hand wheels on the grass while slipstreamimg Ati (mucho panic  Shocked) and Erling nipped up the inside then missed his braking point. I was back into P3 along the 2nd straight then Ati had a big shunt and I was in P2 behind Clive. On the next lap Clive did a Space Shuttle impersonation and I inherited the lead with Tony and Hayman following. I was able to steadily increase the gap to P2 and so I managed to begin braking a bit early for each turn and then had a fairly lonely run to the chequered flag.
Congrats to all finishers (especially Bob in the Aston) ... that was a real test of concentration  Smiley

Thanks for the swift reply, Tony. Unfortunately it's still the same, Misnoimis was also on the server and saw the same mismatch.

This evening I joined the server in order to have a look at the sweeping turn at the end of the first straight and when I leave the pit I get an error message: Gamedata\Sim_GTC.gdb mismatch  Huh ... can anyone shed some light on this please ?

It was entirely my fault that I ran the Mazda too many times and so the DQ should be applied. It's ironic really since I really dislike that car and would prefer not to have used it at all   Undecided

I wasn't too keen on this track and so I decided to take the Mazda in order to get it out of the way  Sad. Practice showed that I could dip into the 2:09s but that was about it so I was expecting a lonely race at the back of the field. Qualifying was about as expected but when the race started I was amazed to find myself circulating behind Erling  Shocked. As things settled down I found that I was quicker than him through the twisties but his Beemer was faster on the banking. Even if I got into Erling's slipstream and so gained some momentum my poor ol' Mazda ran out of steam when I pulled out to pass and dropped back behind. This cat-and-mouse went on for many laps with Erling sticking to his line through the bendy bits and then me trying to keep up around the oval. It seemed like stalemate until Erling made the tiniest of errors in T1 and I was able to sneak past into T2  Grin. I was able to pull a few tenths per lap and was feeling quietly confident until I noticed that Steve was quickly closing on Erling. When Steve had gained the place I tried to push harder and overcooked it when turning onto the banking. The resulting spin allowed both Steve and Erling to pass  Roll Eyes. The final few laps saw me trying desperately to close the gap to Erling and, given another 24 laps, I might have succeeded but the chequered flag put and end to that  Tongue

Congrats to Jose, MaiPor and Gregman for the podium places and particular thanks to Erling for an excellent race  Smiley

Maybe a couple of 45 minute races with a 15 minute break between end of race 1 and start of quali 2 ?
