Yeah Sam you had that one in the bag after I spun behind you, was very surprised to suddenly see you missing a wheel coming round the bend :-O if anything I would've figured it would've been me as I was putting it all on the line in a desperate attempt to get back in touch... You were steady as a rock Sam, great fun racing you all the way! and sorry for my "ambitious" overtake, reckon'd it'd be my only shot ;-) Guess I was so desperate to try and get a gap afterwards that I made my turn-in at the 100-sign instead of the 50-sign at T-last.. lucky it didn't come off worse than it did Sad not to see more racers on the grid, but love having Sam and Greg around for some close racing ;-) Ps. Yes! First win in UKGPL although clearly the result of some very big absentees

Crap! Happy about a Cooper/Monaco PB that put me 2nd on the grid after Greg.. Managed to overtake Greg in quite cool little duel, was then able to pull ahead, but just as I saw on the pitboard that Greg had suddenly lost 10 secs.. I graze the harbour-chicane, left front goes off while in the hay going down the harbour straight.. race over Grats to the winner, commiseration to the non-finishers (like me )

What is the date for this venue?
As said, I'd might be up for taking the trip across for some live racing, beer and meeting some of the fine UKGPL folks, depending on total cost/my financial situation at given point :-P
I'll go with whatever the majority decides for accomodation.. A bar does sound nice though :-D

We used to do these kind of meet-ups in the Danish GPL Society back in the days and it was great fun everytime, but Denmark being a small country maybe made it somewhat easier, we had an annual LAN-event over a weekend and met up with our computers and did a mini-2 drivers-3 hour-lemans race as a fixed venue (as well as alot of other smaller races), great fun :-)
Having never been to the UK I would love to participate in this kind of event and maybe even see some racing! Great idea! the travel from Denmark shouldn't be that bad and a tent to sleep in and beer to drink is all I need ;-) Though I've never raced with or known Joe Shaw, I'd hope that the invitation would go beyond that :-) I think it's a commendable thing for you guys to hold this tournament in his honour and if his death contributes to people meeting up across nations and sharing common interests I think that's a very worthy positive to extract from what it otherwise a dreadfull thing..

As to the race I'm not sure if I should buy Gizmo a beer or throw it at him! Grin Hehe, yeah I hear you, maybe I should buy You a beer and then you can throw it at me ;-) But I'm glad you had fun and I was kind'a pleased to see you go by after one of my many mistakes.. I saw Pelle closing in on me later and thought that maybe somehow my soul would be saved if I let him by, but something happened to him and suddenly it was Iestyn who was closing the gap with laps counting down.. So I guess I'm still going to hell

Maybe specifying "Fast drivers" as something like "top 5 in works championship and top 3 in privateers" (just an example), would help make the choice for people.. I've honestly never considered myself "Fast", more like "Consistent", but considering my champ. position I thought I would count as such..

Grats Rob with the win and the championship!! clearly well deserved clinching it with a win and still a race to go! Not much to say about my race, I guess now I know how it has felt for Alonso in his McHonda last year :-P But clearly the Ferrari can go faster, didn't get my setup right, so alot of understeer which really hurt me through T1.. Had some fun small duels with some people coming by after going off, but could make no real impression on anybody.. Good to see Iestyn back on track with us ! :-)
