3  SimRacing In General / GT Legends / Re: Can-Am For GTL - A shameless Plug on: August 03, 2019, 01:15:21 AM +0100
Slowly returning to sim racing after my wife passed away earlier this year after a fairly long illness. Although she had been ill for some time it was still a shock, she was only 54.

As you can imagine I've not really been that interested in much at all since, but fired up GTL tonight for the 1st time in ages and had a blast throwing the M6A around Fuji 82.

Was sad to hear of Hmmguy passing. I spoke to him a few times when I was working on the GTL version and he along with "Loose Ether" answered all my inane questions without treating me like a moron (Which I probably was).

Not sure what the future holds for me at the moment but I would like to think I might rejoin some of the UKGTL series in 2020.

4  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 34 (2019) 1955 Grand Prix - Spa - Feb 3 on: February 05, 2019, 12:52:11 AM +0000
Well, Not my finest hour I guess. Really sorry about the mayhem at Eau Rouge. It became a Pinball simulation and ended the race of a number of drivers. Not really sure what would have made it any better. (Other than not crashing in the 1st place). I couldn't just sit there after the crash. Had I ended up off track then yes, but parked stationary on track on the climb up from Eau Rouge wasn't going to make it any better either. Sad

Don't really know what else to say but obviously apologies are in order, even if only to say sorry for putting a wheel on the grass in the first place..

As far as the incident with Francesco at the Masta Kink. I consider I was through. I frequently glanced right on the approach and couldn't see him. From the replay I was visible from his cockpit looking straight ahead (With Default FOV). I fully expected him to follow me through and retake the position on the run down to Stavalot.

But either way I'm sorry it ended his race.

As I said in the Rouen thread. That was my last 67 outing for a while and likewise this was my last run in the 55's.

Sadly my wife is very ill and more and more of my time is now spent caring for her. I may appear for the odd race if it's a track I'm familiar with but it's unlikely I'll be doing much GPL in the forseeable future.

Hopefully 2020 will be a better year.

Well, Terrible from me, All seemed good then a crazy 2 minutes.

Was following Dulima and Fulvio with Clive behind and clipped the grass at T1 spinning me off. Tried to find a spot to rejoin safely but unfortunately I was still in 3rd gear and all I did was slowly creep onto the track in front of Andreas (I think) sending us both spinning into the weeds. (Sorry, completely my fault). Sad Then less than half a lap later I rear ended Billy when I was caught out by his braking point. At that point I decided I was more of a hinderence then a help to anyone so retired.

A bit of a shame as this might be my last race for a while other than fitting a few in as and when I can due to a family illness

Hi Jpanzer,
It's been a long time since I did anything with this and I see the oroginal UKGTL download link has disappeared.

Here's a link to the pack. https://www.dropbox.com/s/t9e7j2arhuahid3/GTL_Can-Am-1967_v1.2.rar?dl=0

I've not really done anything with this or GTL for a few years due to a family illness but any feedback welcome.

I do have another version I was working on with revised grip levels but I'm unsure of the overall integrity of that installation so would need to go through the files to check.

If any interest I'll see if I can find time to finish it off.

7  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 34 (2019) 1955 Grand Prix - Zandvoort - Jan 20 on: January 21, 2019, 12:16:43 AM +0000
Thanks Clive. A totally unexpected win. Alessandro was in a class of his own qualifying over a second ahead of the rest of the field and had he not decided to explore the surrounding sand dunes early on I'm sure would have won this one easily. Had a suprisingly clean race, twice I tried to throw it all away , once getting very sideways in Scheivlak when it seemed certain I wasn't going to get it back and again when for some reason unknown to me I decided that after 25 laps of taking  the right hander between Tunnel Oost and Panoramabocht in 4th I changed into 3rd. Fortunately both times Clive was too far back to take advantage but that Connaught certainly is no slouch.

Thanks Guys, A blast as always.

8  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 34 (2019) 1967 F1 - Montjuïc Park - Jan 13 on: January 14, 2019, 12:12:45 AM +0000
Sorry Fulvio and anyone else caught up in my opening lap crisis. I was hoping your race wasn't ended because of me. Not sure what happened, my PC suddenly became a stutterfest twice in the 1st few laps resulting in me glancing the barrier and bouncing back across the track. I fully expected either a screenfreeze or a CTD at any moment.

Once we were onto lap 3 it ran as smooth as silk until the end of the race. I'm thinking windows decided to sneak in an update or something.

It became quite a lonely race once the race had settled down, Losing time at an alarming rate to the front 3 but gaining time on Ricardo behind. With about 10 to go it became an exercise in making sure I stayed on the lead lap, I could see Tris and the remainder of the podium showing red on Prib but the distance back meant I could take it reletively easy, I don't think I got within a second of my qualifying time for the whole race.

I really like Montjuic in some strange perverse way. I think it has a great flow once you find the right set up and with plenty of elevation changes makes for an interesting lap. It does seem a little unstable though. I've raced here 3 times and had 1 screen freeze but in all races there have been several others who have had them.

Congrats to the Podium and everyone who managed to get to the end.

Thanks all.

Thanks Phil.
You can find it yourself if you look how many laps you do in 50min...

If I used my laps in 50 minutes as a benchmark the aliens would have all finished and be in the bar after about 20 minutes. Wink

Do we have a final number of laps for the rounds where laps are showing ??.

Thanks in advance

In Case they are useful...

Keyboard Replay Controls...

C = Change Camera (forwards)
SHIFT + C = Change Camera (backwards)

V = Change Driver (forwards)
SHIFT + V = Change Driver (backwards)

Numberpad 1 = Forwards To End Of Vid

Numberpad 4 = Rewind Slo-Mo
SHIFT + Numberpad 4 = Fast-Rewind (upto x16 Speed)
CTRL + Numberpad 4 = Back to previous session

Numberpad 5 = Stop/Continue (Normal Speed)

Numberpad 6 = Forwards Slo-Mo
SHIFT + Numberpad 6 = Fast-Forward (upto x16 Speed)
CTRL + Numberpad 6 = Advance to next session

Numberpad 7 = Rewind To Start Of Vid

I do find sometimes the numlock state gets confused, if some dont always work try numlock on /off.

C, V (and with Shift) can also be used in practice sessions to view other drivers etc.

I wasn't suggesting we drop it from the schedule, just making my excuses prior to the event. Wink Like Clive I'll be taking the slug here and I'm turning in similar times at the moment. I actually managed 4 laps tonight without hitting anything. Then ambition out weighed talent and I ran out of brakes at the Hairpin. Sad

the little men in red jumpers turn out to help me know where I am!

For me it's the men in white coats... Hate the place. Not ideal for online racing IMO. So many places you can go off and no way back without back tracking to find a gap in the shrubbery and getting a DQ due to "Reversing on Track". Sad
