376  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 15 Christmas Special - Montlhéry - Dec 28 on: November 30, 2015, 12:31:02 AM +0000
Hi Tony,
When you say "Ignore the cones and drive the banked turn ignoring the silly chicanes." does that also include the 1st chicane on the entry to the banking or only the other 2?

Thanks in advance

Great, Thanks for the link Geoffers.

I tried to join your server phspok but keep getting "Bad Password". I am trying the the password you mention in https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13388.msg242152#msg242152 The password seems to be too long for the password box and I am unable to type the final character.

Finally another question. Smiley (Thought I'd ask them all here rather than starting new topics).

How do I turn off track cut warnings? Specifically for the Linus Montlhery circuit proposed for the Christmas special? Is there any way of also making the AI ignore them as well?

Thanks as always.

Aha, ok that makes sense. I just went to the Altbierbude site and can see the game servers listed and the tracks loaded currently. The only one I have is the one loaded on server 6.

1 final question..

I have heard there is a GTL Rank site? If so, what's the address?

Thanks as usual for the help.

Hi Tony,
Well, not so Stellar after all.  no

I'm in the Lobby and can see a list of servers but can't get into most of them.

The Altbierbude servers www1 -> www4 were running Donnington GP and I keep getting the message "Track Not Installed" I do have this track as far as I know. Isn't it one of the standard tracks which come with the sim?

www5 -> 7 were all running Hockenheim GP and I could enter www6 but not the other 2. (Again "Track not Installed").

I tried the GC Public TC65 server (Again running Hockenheim GP) and I could also enter that.

simracing.org.uk though (Hockenheim GP again) would not let me in. After entering the password I got the "Track Not Installed" message.

Confusion reigns here at the moment.  Huh

Hi Tony,
Thanks, so am I right in thinking by default the game tries to connect to the simbin lobby? (Sorry for stupid questions or assumptions)

Well, I got into Altbierbude (I think).. I had not actually tried the instructions in the 3rd post you mention until now but they seemed to work like a dream. I was working my way through the others already but hit a brick wall trying to register using the instructions in  https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=12125.msg217542#msg217542 I still have no recollection of ever being asked for a CD key.  no But exactly what I may or may not have tried when I 1st got the game has been lost in the annals of time..

I had to use a different user name to my GTL player (And Forum) name which was unfortunate but no problem. Should I create a new player matching the Lobby name or doesn't it matter?

Anyway, I think I'm in. Some races are greyed out Any reason for this I should be aware of? I could see the race Simracing.org.uk MONDAYS so tried to join with the password from elsewhere and got a "Track Not Installed" message which I guess is good as I don't have the track installed.  Grin But at least I got far enough for the server to tell me that.

So, can I now take a back up of this GTL install and use it as a base to add cars or tracks etc as required for any series I become involved with?

Again sorry for any stupid questions and thanks for the help so far, I really appreciate it.

381  UKGTL / UKGTL / On-Line - How? on: November 26, 2015, 10:17:54 PM +0000
Hi All,
Been lurking on the boards for a while having got GTL around 12 months ago. I've enjoyed it so far without taking it too seriously and I'm the 1st to acknowledge where I am in the food chain as far as driving ability is concerned (Somewhere between the Amoeba and Plankton)..

Lately I've thought of jumping into the on-Line arena with GTL. I'm primarily a (Very Average) GPL driver with some on-Line experience.

So how do I get GTL on-Line? I've read the posts and followed the instructions (Obviously incorrectly) and I'm getting nowhere fast.

My GTL installation had become a bit of a mess with anything and everything downloaded and much to my surprise all works great but I decided start over with a fresh install so backed up my old copy (So I can recover tracks etc), uninstalled and started over..

I now have a new installation with only the "Unlock" everything and "XD" patches installed.

If I select Multiplayer then Internet and try to register I wait (and wait) and finally get "Registration failed unable to connect to server". I've tried countless times and get the same result..  helpsmilie I can't be 100% sure but I don't think I have ever tried to take GTL for a spin on-line previously.

So, what am I doing wrong? Are there any files I should check for specific values? I'm not that familiar with the "lobby" system used here and see references to various lobby's so I'm not sure exactly which are current, which I should try to connect to or even what I expect to see once I do get on-line.

Although I don't get very much free time I really would like to give this a go even if I can only find time to concentrate on 1 championship (I was thinking of Mini's and Skodas' might be a good starting point).

My GTL is a "Steam" download if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Doh!! I was looking under M not L in the alphabetic track list at Nogrip downloads...

Shame about those stupid chicanes on the banking. Those versions are the shorter options, the 1937 track was another few miles longer but not matter they are both excellent

Well, I do have GTL, and GTR1/2, Race07, PnG.

My 1st love has always been GPL though (Which I do race on-line in the oAo league) but it's taken me 16 years to become even average at that.  Huh

I really like GTL and have taken the route of trying to learn it with H Shifter, clutch etc rather than the paddles arrangement I was bought up with in GPL and if I'm honest I'm crap at it but will beat it into submission eventually.

I've often looked on enviously at the UKGTL events and would like to give a few a try but my performance is I fear not really up to scratch and would be worried about being a mobile chicane although I am having a great time with the LM55 and GPL67 car sets off-line.

The Christmas special has peaked my attention though. Thanks for the help guys, I'll try to work out how to get the beast on-line and then probably make a pest of myself on the UKGTL boards.

Thanks both.

Thanks, Yes, that appears to be the one I was looking for.

I have to say I'm quite impressed They are a blast on the earlier tracks before safety neutered them. Obviously that was not a criticism of the steps taken to save drivers lives but it does make you realise just how good the likes of Monza was before the chicanes. All I need now is someone do make a period MONTLHÉRY and I'll be in heaven.

Thanks again

Hi All, 1st post but some time lurker on the boards.

I came across this youtube video the other day...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izslDggmrSM

Has anyone tried this mod? I tried to register at www.RMS-GT-RACING.jimdo.com but kept ending up at a 404 page not found, I've also tried registering using email to make contact but no reply.

So anyone tried it? Anyone have it? Is it worth continuing to make a nuisance of myself or is it another "Spirit of Speed" and should be left well alone.

Thanks in advance
