I'm not gonna make it unfortunately, promised I'd help someone with moving. Shame as I was looking forward to this combo.  Cry

Sorry to Maikel for the side by side shoulder barge, thought you had lost it and gone off as I steamed down the inside but you must have recovered as I did so and we clashed. That took my last enthusiasm to continue so I parked up and retired.  Sad

That wasn't me  Grin

I had a terrible night. Just coudn't get into a rythm on this track and kept loosing the rear or locking up. I was lucky to get in a good lap at quali and get into 3rd. Thought I tried the mediums this time to get a better start. Which helped but right into turn 1 the rear tried to take an amibitous overtake on the front around the outside of T1. So I sat facing the wrong way and as soon as I drive away I get teleported to the pits with a 30 second controls lock ( maybe some mechanic to ban/punish obvious crashers online, hence the file name Zolderonline  Huh ? ). Was tempted to just quit but I knew I would need those points someday, so I just finished in the end. Tried to keep Jeffrey from lapping me but with those toasted rears the car kept loosing it. Such a shame after how brilliant the car was to drive at Suzuka, I just coudn't keep it straight on this track.

0 laps of practice on an unfamiliar track in a tricky car.

Should be interesting  Grin

Phew, what a race indeed.

I knew starts were tricky in these things so luckily I spent the last minute of quali practicing them. So when the lights went off I immediately release the clutch and drop down to 4th  Cry
Very difficult to overtake here so I spent most of the time trying to find a way past Matteo's impregnable defense  Grin
After about 20 minutes of trying to take different lines and failed attempts and finally manage to get a much better exit out of the last chicane and pas him at T1. Finally  Tongue
A lap later Jeffrey had his mistake and I'm back to first, not quite how I envisioned the race to go and I was pretty bumped out after that start, but happy to win the race nonetheless. Luckily the race itself was great. And Matteo, I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so that the mediums wouldn't last 40 minutes  Cool

I can get in but I have a 60kg ballast already  Huh Tongue

Did some more tyre testing and I can strongly advise not to use the medium tyre ( except for Jeffrey, you can use it  angel )

Tried to do a 21 lap stint and after around 5 laps the rear got yellow, not too bad but around lap 8/9 I started to lose about 0.5 - 1 sec compared to my best time.
Around lap 12 or so the rear tyres turned red, after that I was keeping my eye on the my other tyre app ( which just shows the exact percentage of grip, yellow is <98 and red is <96 )
At lap 17 it all went to hell. The tyres started to pass the treshold below 94% and that just means the tyres is completely done. No grip whatsoever and the percentage is dropping really quickly ( think I lost 2% in lap).
After trying to complete 2 laps more I just gave up with the rear tyres at 89% and several spins.

After that I tried a few laps of the hards but to my surprise they were pretty good. Abit more understeer but that makes the car abit easier to drive. So after 7 laps I almost beat my best lap of the mediums and the tyres still at around 99% I called it quits.

So unless your good at conserving tyres ( which I'm very bad at  Tongue )  I don't think they are gonna last a full race.
7  UKAC / UKAC Races / Re: UKAC Season 10 - Maserati MC12 - Suzuka - Apr 25 on: April 23, 2018, 10:21:21 PM +0100
Yellow after 7 laps. And the car is already tricky as it is as I couldn't test it for longer stints  Grin
I'm guessing they'll be red before the end of the race ( 20 laps )

We'll see how it goes for this one, maybe they remain fine. Could also open up for different strategies.

I drove on hard tyres last night and they seemed to wear linear, but as soon as the wear bar hit the blue line (crossover from green to yellow), the wear basically came to a halt and the wear remained roughly the same for the last 10 laps or so.
I don't fully trust the tyre app, so unless everybody falls off the track, I don't really like the idea of an unrealistic tyre multiplier Tongue.

Fair enough. And now that I think about it, didn't the porsche GT1 have a bug or something where the tyre wear from the medium was the same as the softs, but the hards worked as intented ?

Are they really worn out, or just yellow? I often find them turning yellow but still within a few tenths of optimal.

Tricky combo for the opening race  Cool

The car definitely takes some getting used to and even then is a pretty difficult car to drive. Just how I like them  Grin
I've put my setup on stracker if anyone is interested. Not sure if its a stable setup but it works for me. Especially after I realized the car doesn't auto blip the throttle when downshifting.
Oh and practicing a standing start is a good idea. It really needs that clutch or else it bog down the rpm even in lowest gear.

And another thing. tyres.
Can't we have a 0,5x tyre multiplier?  Tongue   7 laps and already my mediums dropped to yellow  Cry

Please not VIR! Stupid place and rubbish for close racing. It's just a test of who can finish with no overtaking.

I've had quite a few overtakes on this track. Turn 1 and the one after the long straight are great for overtaking.

I'm thinking about Estoril without the chicane and we have a race at Circuit of the Americas over at Core this Sunday, and if it's good, might use that as well.

Estoril has only 1 or 2 overtaking spots aswell. Probably the same as COTA, though we'll see after the race (though it's a great track for modern/downforce cars).
Personally I love VIR with its mix of twisty corners and long straights.  Grin

Though Mugello is always a good option aswell  Cool

Phew, managed to just finish ahead of Jeffrey  Grin

I realized early in the race that the ballast was making a huge difference here on this track so at the start Simon made a great move in the 3rd corner. After that I just followed them until it was only me chasing Jeffrey who was on Flavus his tail. After a while we decided to take turns on attacking Flavus  Cool
Some great battles, intense race from start to finish. Great car choice as I probably would never have driven it if not for this  Grin
downloaded the latest version of the track, but get an error message when I try to unzip it, no racing for me tonight  Sad

Don't use Winrar ( or update it or something ). I use 7zip from now on as I get that same error with Winrar. Could be its just outdated.

I have Ptracker on but it doesn't show a fuel load  Huh

It'll show your fuel load only once the session had ended. Not sure why but something I noticed aswell.

Hi guys. I'm afraid I cannot make it for this race. Have fun Smiley

Cry A shame you can't make it, would've been a pretty good finale.
