welp, this game is living up to and surpassing my exceptions so far. I will post some pictures when I get home
Played a bit before work.
First and foremost Turn 10 actually USED the Top Gear license unlike Gran Turismo 5. The intro movie is Jeremy Clarkson narrating a very Top Gear-esque intro sequence. Aside from the Top gear test track, you can also set your home screen background to the Top gear studio or test track. The Auto Vista mode is awesome and uses the TG license well, as does the Top Gear challenges in your season career mode, with JC supply the intro voice over for the description of the challenge. The first season challenge is Car Bowling.
If you had a Forza 3 profile on you hardrive you can import it to F4. I was level 50 and got 60k credits and about 14 or so cars from my F3 garage moved over. (Stock cars, nothing fancy). Game has 500 cars from 80 manufacturers (List here
http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/Cars/ManufacturerList.aspx). Tons of car porn to browse through, and a lot of cars/manus I've never even heard of.
Career system is layed out well with the ability to choose events with specific bonuses or some with lottery bonuses. I've been choosing events that give me affinity bonuses (affinity gives you discounts and loyalty to brands).
I like that they give yo ua choosable car per level.
They did a great COD Badge/Title system for your gamer card. Tons and tons of badges and titles to customize your player card with.
The Car Club and Rivals features are a giant benefit to multiplayer. Speaking of multiplayer, you can tell they're not hiding what SP is about - Grinding for money. They've made it easier, and although the AI is improved, it's still not that muc hof a challenge unless you purposely handicap yourself with a slow car. Personally I don't mind this as I do the majority of my gaming on Forza online.
This game looks great. 12 Cars on track at a constant 60fps. Sense of speed is amazing, and the cars have fluid and realistic movement.
The Pirelli tire modeling has helped the simulation immensely as you now have a much more accurate and organic feel of what your car is doing with the road. You can feel the car losing grip into understeer, you can feel the rear tires snapping on you into oversteer, you have a great sense of feedback in the controller of the surface of hte road and just how much on the edge you are of grip.
Sounds are even better than before, and are one of the highlights of htis game. The cars sound beefy and punchy, each car has it's own personality and engine note.
This game has made leaps and bounds of improvements over Forza 3, and I can't wait ot sink more time into it once my Fanatec arrives.
My only quarrels with the game so far.
1. Best Buy. These guys messed up hard in north america. They canceled everyone's Collectors Edition pre-order 4 days before the game came out. When I pre ordered they refused ot let me get the CE and told me to just pick one up on release day. I Went in today right when they opened and they received 0 copies of the CE, and they didn't give me the 1M Coupe code, so now I'm waiting on an email with it. Absolute messup.
2. The first time install process. Set aside some free time. I spent 40 hours setting the game up with installs etc, and I still haven't got the free BMW M5 and my pre order track and car pack yet.
3. No Porsche. stupid EA.
If you want to add me on XBL: Jebstone
