Not a good idea to still be on track just before qual ends. I usually qual with race fuel anyway
but if you qual with low fuel, either get back to the pits with a minute or so to spare, or go to setup
when it takes you to the race session, you have a minute? to set your fuel before the race start
race doesn't start untill either the countdown times out, or, everyone is on the grid.

I wasn't intentionally running light on fuel in qually, definitely not that good yet  Smiley

[Note to self: refuel the car before joining the grid]

For fuel, see what a representative lap time is, and work out how many laps fuel you will need. You need to drive a couple of laps
for it to work out how many litres per lap you need, last night (and many of our events are 30 mins) you would need something like
~22 laps worth. For the Formula J we do 2x 20 min races with a reverse grid.

Ok, thanks. Just in case, I attended (and lapped throughout) practice and qually. My take is that at the point we got the RRE "race is about to start" admin screen I should've gone into the Setup(?) options where I would've been presented with the current fuel load and I could have adjusted that, as you say, based on a couple of quick calcs.

I can't remember how long there was between end of qually and race start (it was all a bit of a blur  Smiley ), am hoping it's more time than my remaining brain cells need  Grin

Does this forum have a mobile app that renders well (naked Android browser makes these forums difficult to navigate)?

Interested to know how the new guys, Glenn, Birger, Alix & Peter got to hear about us. With our numbers currently rising, it would be great if a few of our Italian friends returned along with a few other old faces (John, Tudor, Mark etc), we could be pushing 20 drivers!

I heard about SimRacing.org.uk just by searching. But specifically I've been looking for some kind of managed multiplayer where the emphasis is on racing as-if-it-were-real-life, so proper penalties for excessive/ premeditated cutting, intentional damage to others, "unsafe" driving. Also, though I don't mind being slow (for now  Wink - you can see the laptimes), I didn't want to be a roadblock for others, so again a "mature" environment is desirable.

I've only just started Simracing again (after a gap of about 20 years) so I'm using a higher (but not highest) end laptop (but still, no graphics card - I'm relying on Intel CPU only), a 40" TV (which I also use as 2nd monitor for work), an X-rocker folding chair which I've had to adapt (not in a sophisticated way) for my frame and a Thrustmaster TX458 wheel/ pedal set. My laptop limits me to specific games, I've currently got RRE, PC2 and GTL. RRE is my current favourite as it feels the most realistic. I looked in the multiplayer servers on RRE, tried a couple but got rear ended badly fairly early on. Maybe it was my fault, I don't know. But that set me off looking for organised leagues/ password protected servers/ managed race series that had good ping from my location and (to start with) were UK based.

SROU was the first place I came across where I felt comfortable ("least nervous") about joining an online race. Luckily, RedBullRing is one of the tracks I've practiced in RR3, but hadn't tried the 95 c-Klasse until yesterday. I decided to stick with the default setup.

Still, look at the laptimes  Embarrassed. I'm a country mile off the pack so first I'm searching the web for videos showing brake/ turn points, gear selections. I'm looking for videos on RedBullRing (for reference against my own experience) and Mantorp (which I think is the next SROU race open to me and again it's to help practice so I'm less of an obstacle for others  Smiley ). After that, if time allows I'll get into setups.

Specific q about last nights race - should I have checked the fuel status before the race OR should I have fuel-saved during the race OR both/ other?

[goes off to search for list of registered drivers]

Forums don't render well on Android browser...should I be using an app?

My first multiplayer simrace was fun, but I DNF'd after running out of fuel.

Must check tank before next race.

Thanks all.
