GPL World Masters: You have got until the end of the week to set a lap time that puts you up into the top 18. The cutoff time will become lower as lower and time goes on...

Shame I missed the last two rounds at two tracks that I love. I would definitely be looking forward to another 1966 championship with this exact format, really enjoyed the races I had here in this c'ship, especially with the diversity in car's abilities that the 1966 rule change caused.

I could only join relatively late in quali because Windows had overwritten my GPU drivers for some generic Windows ones, and that after half a year of using my GPU without a problem. You can turn that update feature off, and I get that Windows wants to optimize stuff for the user, but come on... Last week AMD released a new driver for my GPU (RX 580), and probably other GPU's, I suspect that might have to do with it. Hope not many other AMD users are affected by this At least there is a help page referenced in the AMD Software that quickly got me back up and running. But there was still plenty of time to secure a good lap and so I managed to secure pole. The pace was already looking very promising from the start and only got better with each lap, so I was confident going into the race. But I knew that Tristan, who started in P2, is usually fast off the line, and my start had to be on point to defend into T1. Luckily I had the inside and could defend. Then some car already came very close to my rear, and 10 seconds later I already had a 100m gap on Pribluda to P2. So that made life easy for me, and I could focus fully on my pace and on nailing the track. Got into a very good rhythm, consistently in the high 33s at the beginning, and kept it in the 33s until the very end. It required a lot of focus to maintain that pace on this demanding street course, but using a 2-liter car certainly helped. Lapped cars were aware and courteous, there was just that one time when I tried to slip by Andreas on the inside and judging from my mirror, it seemed like he moved out of the way last-second during the apex. Sorry if I wasn't patient enough there, glad it didn't cause any further issues for you. Congrats to Yannick for a great recovery drive after an early mishap and to Tom for a close P3, seems like you had a lot of fun out there! Well done all finishers, bad luck DNF's, on this tricky track that can catch you out when you least expect it, especially over the bumps in T1... Hopefully Spa brings more luck, though I wouldn't bet on that...

My Techprob: I could not start from the pits When I pressed the green button for going to the pits, it followed a massive ”ROCKETCRASH!” with a rough landing after a long flight in the sky, somewhere on track or in the green! I only could start driving with using shift-R … Sorry to hear about your technical difficulties. No doubt you would have been in the fight at the front without your difficulties! This is a conflict between the 2 options of Rouen pits, which are the narrow and wide pits. The original Papyrus version has very wide pits which aren't historically accurate, so there is a community-made pits update with way narrower pits. The physical track borders were also moved closer to the track with this update, which is why your car is destroyed when you join a server which has a track.ini with pits placement for the original wide pits version. As far as I know there is a problem with the GPLPS 1.08 installer regarding this option. You can select the narrow pits option during installation, but graphically you will still get the wide pits, hence why it will look like your car is spawning at the right place, yet it gets destroyed. The solution is here http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3534, just get the "normal" version for future online races.

First race in this series and I had raced here close to a year ago in the McLaren, so I thought why not pick the car you're familiar with?
Of course this came with the major disadvantage of being quite a bit down on straight line speed. But I had faith in my practice lap times and knew that the slipstreaming factor could keep me in there. Qualifying was good as I matched my PB. PB was without tow, and here I had a tow, so there was certainly more in it with slipstream, but you know the track was Rouen is. Tricky as hell and wants to catch you out at every apex. Initially I had pole, but Tristan put in a late and great effort to snatch it away from me.
Start was surprisingly good considering my low 1st gear, and I could keep up with Tristan. Quickly I found that his gear ratio setup had a big weakness as he couldn't get the car accelerated from Nouveau Monde. I could get past there in lap 2, but stood no chance on the long straight with slipstream. But the pattern kept repeating for several laps where I would overtake in the hairpin and get reovertaken on the straight. Meanwhile Leo sat closely behind biding his time. Then on one occasion I had an off at Scierie under braking and lost a few seconds. Only half a lap later Leo and Tristan collided in the hairpin. Leo got out quickly, but Tristan wasn't so lucky and fell over 10 seconds behind. So now it was only a 2-way scrap for the lead and the win. I could make moves here and there, but same old story, we overtook each other several times. Then 3 laps from the end I got another move on and tried to put the hammer down to open up a gap on the first half of the track. But at Beauval I put a rear tyre into the grass and went round, and Leo and Tristan were both uncatchable.
So I had to settle for P3, but I'm not complaining. That was some great fun on a high level which could only have been bettered with a last-lap-battle. Congrats again to Leo for the win and to Tristan for P2! Well done to all finishers, in this case the majority of starters, great to see such a high finishers number! Sorry to the DNFs, it was always going to be tough around Rouen...

Everone knew how to behave at the start and no matter which car I encountered, the car's movements into corners looked very smooth. Seems like the server is working well, and the first race on it was a nice one. Obviously this track is very intense like Billy said, so the tendency towards self-induced spins that everyone seemed to encounter was quite natural. After my first mistakes I thought the win was way out of reach, turns out (almost? did anyone have a spin-free race?) nobody could keep it on track for the entire time. Really enjoyed the awesome, clean battles with Tris and Pete, shame you two collided at the end in front of me, otherwise I'm sure that we would have had a lot of fun at the very end. Thanks for organizing and participating, Pete and everyone!

Yesterday was rather disappointing, even when I got a fifth place in a BRM. In Quali I aimed for about a low 1:44, but inside the 35 minutes I was driving, I bottled numerous laps. Ended up about a seconf off my target time.
Start went well as the quickly dropping flag caught some drivers out and I went up to 4th. Then I was close to Enrique and got a tow on him a few times, but never enough to pass. Made mistakes every now and then, and the three ahead pulled away more and more. I could keep Killer behind, but later in the race I spun first, then Killer spun, then I spun again which ultimately gave him the position, and then had had one final spin which put safe distance between him and me.
So 5th it was, still a decent result. Thanks for racing everyone (loved to see a full field) and thanks for organizing the 40th season!
